After weeks of research, we’ve predicted the starting line-up for every team’s opening fixture at this summer’s World Cup.

We’ve put these together using information gathered from qualifying matches, international friendlies and team news information from managers.

Some of them are more set in stone than others and ultimately they are predictions based on the interpretation of the data by our team of writers.

None really I think. Better going with Fodder Sanchez and upgrade elsewhere.

Nah - fodder Sanchez is guaranteed to get no attacking points. Meza and Aldawsari at least have a chance.

Sanchez is such a woeful pick - please don't get him

That's why he's called fodder. I won't play him unless I'm subbing a 2 pointer. Been looking at this too long so McGyvered him in to give some attackingness elsewhere.

When are people doing max captain, reckon it's worth gameweek 1?
better in the group stage? knockouts? final?

what about the wildcard as well?

Bench boost best group stages or Round of 16 maybe after wildcard?

round 16 bb for me, wc then maximum captain in either quarters/semis/final

I feel like max captain will be useful when we get less attempts at captaincy in later rounds

i heard on the scoutcast that you can get points from a player you transfer out during the round and eligible to get the new player's points too so have greizman at start and then get neymar in for him you would get both points. that doesnt sound right to me? please can someone confirm this?
    Thanks

Think you've misheard or something. Once a player is subbed out they can't come back in that matchday.

I've gone for Coutinho.. at the end of the day brazil could blow any team in the world cup out of the water and couthinho can score from anything. I'm also thinking of my opponents and a lot more are going to have Couts

This is true, although Stones has started more games than all other CBs lately - think he would be last of the back line to be rotated personally. Just offers nothing in attack. RWB seems more likely to be rotated for me, but you could well be right!

Trippier. May be have J.Rod or Lewandowski on the bench if you're worry about him being dropped. But I don't think he will be dropped after one game unless he's really awful in that game.

Noticed the article doesn't have Inui starting who I currently have in my squad?

Surely he has to be a starter? As talented as anyone else in japan aside from Kagawa. Got a brace in their most recent friendly as well.

I don't have a clue about Japan's starting lineup but I wouldn't read too much into these lineups. They have Milinkovic-Savic on the bench for Serbia and he's their best player.

    2. 420king
      • 11 Years
      7 years, 6 months ago

It doesn't matter, he's just an enabler. And you'll be able to see if he starts before subbing him on, if that's an issue.

      1. fitzy
        • 14 Years
        7 years, 6 months ago

Sure but I have an easy 1m free from Marcelo > Danilo if I want. Would rather take a 5.5 option and make that switch if needed if Inui won't start.

          • 11 Years
          7 years, 6 months ago

I'd do Marcelo > Danilo either way. Too similar and 1m is a lot. Could get Meza for 5.5 (have them both), but I don't expect much from him either.

Inui is not a starter. The coach said he'd make a lot of changes for the final warm up game.

Both and get rid of Pavard. Mendy a threat to him surely

Pavard and Mendy play on opposite sides.

Who is the other French right back then? I thought Pavard was only due to play the first game

I think Pavard will be okay for the first game, and I'm hoping he plays well enough to secure it from then on

I'm assuming so simply based on how many sides he's in...

Eriksen or JRod? Do they both take pens for their teams?

Both on pens. I've gone for James but there's not much in it.

Bravo. If you can't say something nice to the man probably better keeping your own counsel.

Bravo to you. Was actually meant as good advice, the rules are nicely explained and if he doesn't know you can change captains he's probably missing other things too.

Apologies. Sounded like condescension to me.

Not sure how strong bench should be. I've opted for weaker but playing bench. Even if I had 5 more mil to spend on bench it still wouldn't look great so why bother?

Your bench should be your players playing latest in the round no matter how good they are.

How good are Poland? Will Lewa lack decent service or can people see Poland scoring quite a few goals?
