The Team Statistics area of the Members Area has a wealth of data available to help guide our Fantasy selections and yet, to this point, we’ve somewhat neglected to highlight some of the information found there.

We’re addressing that from now on, with regular Numbers Game articles focusing on the data produced within a Gameweek, with a regular check on the attacking and defensive performance of teams over the previous four Gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

howdy - I need a cheap Newcastle defender so it's between:

    A) Santon or
    B) Williamson

(I already have Simpson) - any advice?

thanks - that's what I was thinking too - more assist potential
Yup looking for an option at 4.4 or less & with taking fixtures and GW29 into account (and the fact that I don't have Krul) am going to double up

you're probably right - I'm really just freeing up cash to get Ba in. Will play double Newcastle defence against Wolves then drop one against Sun - might double up again in GW29
I think Sun will probably score against New alright

Oh and in the end I swapped Valancia for Yaya......okay only out for a week or so, but with next game Spurs, would probably have played Dyer (vs Wigan) instead of him next weekend and felt that atleast two of Silva, Aguero & Yaya should play and theoretically get some points against Blackburn.......ready for the back fire though....

Frustration is I swapped him to simpson with my first WC to free up funds and have regretted it every since as his price sky rocketed and he hit double figures on more than one occassion. Just feel I might have missed th boat now. The other option would be to use both my FT's to do Senderos > Cahill and Caluker > Santon. Least that way if richards doesn't play I have decent cover. But is cahill really worth it and if mags get a few tomorrow, taylor could easily be involved if he plays.

Great article, Mark. Would it be too much to expect an article on "Playing the 2nd WC" ? I'd love to know more about:

    1) When’s the right time to play it considering DGWs, etc?
    2) Which fwds, mids, defs, Gk rotation should we be looking at? (like the Jan WC)
    3) Differential players/Player projections for the last 10 weeks or so? (somewhat like Chris’ last article on sleepers)

Just a suggestion – I know it’s too much to ask. But would be GREAAAAAAT.

Thanks Scouts – keep up the great work!

His stats are probably the most explosive out of any midfielders the last two weeks added with the fact that he's playing up front with Zamora for the next two GWs at least. I reckon he's worth a shot for the short term.. I wanted something different after the Valencia news broke, so I got him in. Let's see how it pans out.

Still, he's a new manager and will be there until the end of the season so the players will surely want to put in a good performance for him.

      Walters or Sess IMO.

Sess's points have been generous compared to his stats and the latest article about back that up and also talks up WBA's performances.

Walters will probably be playing midfield though and Stoke are a low scoring team so I'd probably bench Walters

any newcastle fans around(china mag, atb???).. would you'll risk gettin R.Taylor in? is he nailed on for the foreseeable(atleast till the all important GW 29).. or will HBA, Obertan get in ahead of him now that they've got a set piece taker in cabaye back? and is williamson now the better option than santon? zero rotation risk whereas r.taylor can replace santon(run of bad results away from home, and santon was at blame too)

I would say that Raylor will feature at RM this week, with Santon at LB.

I think both are reasonably comfortable for the time being.

screw that. santon is an exciting, technical, galloping full back. williamson can be described as a plodding oaf. taste of the fruit of life's caprices. even if this mentality makes you prone to kolarovitis. choosing the boring option takes the fun away. gotsta play this for smiles.

huth is another lumbering behemoth with the grace of a refrigirator and the guile of a rhinoceros. richards with the rotation risk was advised against but went unheeded by many (myself included). he still has a lot of upside and is one of the most exuberant defenders in the league. santon is as nailed on as williamson imo and is the more likely to bring attacking returns and the attendant bonii.

this pretty much describes my day to day existence!

"In addition to a health indicator, Daniel's sanity must be managed. Being in darkness too long, witnessing unsettling events, or staring at monsters will reduce Daniel's sanity, causing visual and auditory hallucinations and drawing the attention of monsters. Light sources help restore sanity, and if none are available Daniel may use tinderboxes to ignite candles in wall sconces and candelabra, or deploy an oil-burning lantern found near the beginning of the game. However, the number of tinderboxes and the amount of oil available are both limited, and standing in a light source also makes the player more noticeable to monsters. The player must balance the amount of time Daniel spends in light and shadow. Sanity is fully restored once Daniel completes an objective or progresses the game's story. It may also be restored by staying in the shadows until Daniel passes out, but this leaves him extremely vulnerable to any nearby monsters."

current defence for this week is:

    Sorenson (SWA)

Simpson (WOL) Kompany (BLA) Taiwo (FUL)

Plan on bringing in evans (looking forward to GW28 onwards) as a part of a larger transfer plan - correct to bench him this week and start the above?

How long do you think evans is gauranteed a starting spot?

Taiwo or Evans is the big dilemma I'm facing as well... Am playing Dempsey so doing with Evans atm. Apparently Evans has been performing way above the other defenders the last few weeks, so he should be pretty nailed on. Not that much of a risk at 4.5m anyhoo.

I agree it's a ticky one - with taiwo getting 2 assists in the last 3 he has that attacking threat but qpr rarely get cs's, evans has v.limited goal or assist potential but could bag a cs, any particular reason u plan to start evans ahead of taiwo?

Not much in it as you say, the other has betters odds of a CS whereas the other has a better chance of attacking points. I'm playing Evans because of playing Dempsey and I don't like to play my attacking players against my defenders if I don't have to. Also it's cleanies you want from your defenders per definition and Utd are odds on to keep one compared to QPR.

I do know what you mean and I agree with you to an extent but if you break them down:

Arsenal (a) - Cannot defend for toffee. Can't see an Arsenal clean sheet here.

Man Utd (h) - Man Utd all over the place in defence this season ... 2-2 draw for me.

Everton (a) - Bale vs Hibbert. Yes Everton have turned the corner but spurs attack away from home, city and chelsea don't.

Basically, Spurs look like scoring every game, home and away, and Bale is often involved.

With 2 out and out strikers in Adebayor and Saha on the pitch Bale did spend the majority of time out wide and didn't seem to have the licence to roam around centrally as much as in some previous matches. That said he did still make several surging runs into the box and goalscoring positions, it just seemed to be one of those days where whomever played the final pass into the box chose to play the ball to someone else. I wouldn't read too much into it, could easily have been quite different.
