Fantasy managers are keeping faith with several Premier League-based players in the lunchtime encounter between Denmark and Australia.
Christian Eriksen (£9.0m), who registered an assist in the Danes’ 1-0 win over Peru last Saturday, is the most-owned player on show: 9.5% of McDonald’s FIFA managers have the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder in their squads.
Eriksen’s assist potential was evident in that opening-match victory: the Spurs man fired in 11 crosses, delivered seven corner-kicks and created three chances for his team-mates in an admittedly fortuitous success over the unlucky Peruvians.
Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) excelled in that match, making six saves on his way to a clean-sheet. The Leicester City goalkeeper’s ownership has jumped a couple of percentage points as a result and now stands at 7.5 %.
Andreas Christensen‘s (£5.0m) ownership has also increased after that shut-out, with the Chelsea defender now selected by 4.3% of Fantasy managers.
For Australia, Mathew Ryan‘s (£4.5m) budget price tag and guaranteed minutes have persuaded 1.9% of McDonald’s FIFA managers to invest in the Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper: Ryan is the most-owned Australian player as a result.
With ten penalties being awarded in the World Cup so far – the tournament record is 18 – Fantasy managers are wisely looking towards those players on spot-kick duties for a reliable source of points.
Mile Jedinak (£6.0m) scored from the spot in the Socceroos’ 2-1 defeat to France and his ownership has increased to 1.6% as a consequence: previously, no Australian midfielder or forward had broken the 1% mark. Jedinak’s penalty was, in fact, the only shot on target Australia had in that loss to the French.
Australia’s team is unchanged, while Lasse Schone for the injured William Kvist is Denmark’s only alteration.
Australia XI (4-2-3-1): Ryan; Risdon, Sainsbury, Milligan, Behich; Jedinak, Mooy; Leckie, Kruse; Rogic, Nabbout
Denmark XI (4-2-3-1): Schmeichel; Dalsgaard, Kjaer, Christensen, Larsen; Schone, Delaney; Eriksen, Poulsen, Sisto; Jorgensen
