As expected, the last set of fixtures was poor in terms of the average score, with the Gameweek winner coming in below 100 points for the first time since the blank fixtures.

There were some important lessons learned though, as some strained squads approach the summer break. As Norwegians, we have a rare glimpse of shining sun, and will tone back the previews to more bare essentials this time around with a focus on the key matches.

Gameweek 12 feature matches

Vålerenga – Lillestrøm

(Saturday, 5:00 P.M.)

This traditional Norwegian derby tends to be tough, tight and heavy. With no guarantee of good football the motivation should be high for both sides. Plenty of Fantasy managers are eager to see if Erling Knudtzon will be back in play, and if he will play up front or out wide.

Strømsgodset – Sandefjord

(Sunday, 5:00 P.M.)

Strømsgodset have disappointed everyone with their run so far, although there have been glimmers of hope with a series of close calls and woodwork strikes of late. If they can’t get it together against whipping-boys Sandefjord, then we know a turnaround in their fortunes is still some way off.

Rosenborg – Brann

(Sunday, 7:00 P.M.)

Brann started in red hot form and despite a drop off in form they are still finding results to remain undefeated in the league. Hot favorites Rosenborg have had the opposite journey; they are now looking like a top team after a slow start.

If Rosenborg win this game, they will be top of the league for the first time this season. Their attacking threat and home advantage will be needed as a clean sheet may be tricky.

For the hosts Yann-Erik de Lanlay is facing a race to be fit for this game. Rosenborg manager Kåre Ingebrigtsen has stated that de Lanlay will play if fit, implying that there will only be room for one of Søderlund and Bendtner in the starting lineup. If de Lanlay is out for this game, there’s a possibility both will start.

MrKlin says..

Looking ahead we see Sarpsborg 08 and Haugesund entering a great run of fixtures, with some nice options opening up.

For Haugesund, David Akintola should already be in many teams, and with a lighter schedule he can hopefully explode his potential further. Frederik Gytkjær, despite his last penalty landing somewhere in France, is a viable striker for the next four to five Gameweeks. Also look to the defence as Alexander Stølås and Vegard Skjerve sail up as alternative defensive options.

In Sarpsborg it’s harder to find the right picks. Goalie Aslak Falch has well and truly secured the number one shirt and is a shoo-in if you are looking for a keeper now, while Amin Askar splashed onto the scene with out of position play on the left midfield/wing as well as taking set-piece duty. Kristoffer Zachariassen was a pre-season favorite from this team, and has crept into form picking up an assist on the sly in each of his last three run outs.

Bonus info: with Ranheim striker Michael Karlsen suspended on yellow cards, Erik Tønne looks to be the penalty taker of choice as they travel to Bodø.

Johannes says..

Sarpsborg are coming from three back-to-back victories, and have great fixtures coming up. It looks like a good bet to bring in someone from Sarpsborg now. I agree with MrKlin and see Amin Askar as the standout pick at the moment. After having started the season as a full back, it seems like he’s now nailed down the left wing in the team. He’s a defender in the game, and also on a lot of set pieces.

Another Sarpsborg pick I like is Ole Jørgen Halvorsen, who’s currently occupying the right wing. He should be the penalty taker having scored the previous two spot kicks. Both Askar and Halvorsen should be pretty nailed, but with Sarpsborg’s squad depth there’s always a slight chance of rotation. Aslak Falch remains a good goalkeeper pick, and Patrick Mortensen could be a good differential up front as he’s very likely to start every game.

If you haven’t got in David Akintola yet, it might be the time to do so. He’s still red hot, and has good fixtures coming up. In the absence of Christian Grindheim against Tromsø he might be given an even more attacking role behind the striker. An attacking double up with Frederik Gytkjær could be a good differential in the coming weeks, despite the Danish forward skying a penalty against Rosenborg. Another great pick from Haugesund is Alexander Stølås. With four attacking returns already, I think he’ll reward his owners nicely over the next week.

Another team I’m monitoring is Strømsgodset. They have great fixtures, with Sandefjord and Start coming up in the next two, and have shown potential in recent matches, despite not overly impressing. I’ll back Marcus Pedersen to do well as my captain this week, and I personally think Eirik Ulland Andersen will return to form sooner rather than later. Bringing one of them in is a risk though, with a mass exodus from Ulland Andersen likely if he doesn’t return anything and Pedersen is one yellow away from suspension.

Alexander Søderlund deserves a mention. In Niklas Bendtner’s absences he impressed with two goals for Rosenberg, who I back to win against Brann. However, I’m not 100% convinced Søderlund will start. As mentioned only one of Søderlund and Bendtner will start if de Lanlay is fit, and with this being Bendtner’s last game before going to the World Cup I have a feeling he’ll be the one to get the nod. This is only my personal opinion though. If I already had Søderlund I’d play him, but non-owners may be advised to wait until Bendtner leaves for international duty.

Jradi on his way to Hajduk Split in Croatia. Contract running out at the end of the year, so the question is if they buy him now or get him for free at the end of the Norwegian season.

I am not going to miss him as a fantasy asset this year but I have not seen enough matches to tell how it will effect Pederson's game.
Jradi was great last season with 10 goals, 8 assists and 22 bonus points as well as a few clean sheet points.

Started with him and EUA this season after how good they both were last year. Not been great this year but hopefully the move works out for him.

I am benching Tonne as second bench as Pederson comes off the bench first. Brann should win away to Odd but the Sif v Ranheim game will be hard to predict imo.
My dilemma is who to play in goal, Falch at home to Tromso or McD away to Start.
Start could be improving under the new management and with two weeks of break to recover they could take the home advantage and score some points.

That is a tough one. I did Soderlund to Bamba to free up cash and Bendtner was likely to take points or time from Soderlund.
Skalevik is good value at his price but I do worry that he cant keep up the energy levels for the whole season. In your shoes I would be tempted to get Pedersen. I think I will captain him in GW16 and (or ) GW17.

    Zachariassen, Reginiussen, Akintola
    Skålevik, Søderlund (v), Pedersen (C)

    Maric, Ejuke, Vetlesen, Granli

Why do I buy OOP defenders if I don't play them?! Ejuke goes to bench and Tønne (/Nilsen) in! GTG DARN IT!

Do you have transfers or a WC to use? How much cash in the bank? Your team is not too bad and will only need tweek or two to pick up your round rank and OR. Fixtures are changing now and form and fixtures benefit some inexpensive players.

I've picked some (or most) of those players after they've done well 🙂 I'll use my first my wildcard before next gw but right now I have no idea how big changes I'll make. Like you say I don't think my team is that bad but I'll definately have to study fixtures. Cheers.

I hesitate to sell Skålevik when I wildcard because he was pretty good early on. What if Söderlund keeps his place at top? Ejuke has been disappointing, he's most certain of those players to leave my team. Cheers.

    Linde Barli
    Wormgoor Askar Tønne Meling (Kitolano)
    Helland Reginiussen Rashani Akintola (Åsen)
    Bamba Opseth (Skålevik)

I have had three rounds with really bad scores now (all under average). Think I'll save the transfer and make two or three transfers next gw, like a "mini wildcard".

    Askar captain.

Yeah. Not sure yet, but would like to get some of Falch, Stølås, EUA, Koomson (++). Not sure what striker to pick. Was thinking Søderlund, but he's obviously not as attractive as he was before Bendtner didn't go to the world cup.

Forwards have not ( as yet ) paid their cost back in points over the more cost effective defenders. I pick that we will have a high price template forward from GW 20. Until then perm any from the top ten forwards and we will not loose ground in OR unless the K picks change significantly.

Nice OR and gives you a good platform. Other than Soderlund ( who could be a great pick) that is a good line up. I fancy Halvorsen and Ulland Andersen but have not got the transfers to get them in just yet. This is such an unpredictable league and that is what makes it fun for me. Good luck any way.

      2. Soderlund to Pederson, but both are valid moves. Not worth a hit for two transfers and I would not blow two FT's to do both. Pederson has better points potential in a couple of weeks but still good.
Bamba and Skalivik are both still good for their money but maybe Bamba is better until the next WC.

It has been said by knowers he'll be benched, nothing from official sources though. If that is true, it looks like Levi will be a starter for the next 2 games, if anyone is looking at Rosenborg diff. offense.

Levi - cheers. Would like an RBK attacker for upcoming games, so may switch to Bendtner. Risk there is his his mindset and potentially leaving over the summer, plus hasn't proved great value to date.

I consider keeping Søder until Adegbenro is back (or Bendtner goes China/USA) 😉

Think rhey’ll do what they can to start Søderlund, with injury on De Lanlay, he should start.

Local newspaper Adressa says 14.00 that Levi & Helland start and (probably) Søderlund starts on the bench

Totally switched off on the Eliteserien front since the World Cup started, missed the last GW and burned one of my free transfers 🙁

Nguen and Johnson → Aasmundsen and Pedersen sound like good moves?

Probably. Still not that convinced on Aasmundsen, but he's cheap and keeps scoring pts.

It's almost like deja vu to when Capoue and Doucoure kept delivering hauls when we didn't expect them to.

Cheers. I hopped on Gjertsen early last season so I like the idea of a cheap mid who just keeps rolling.

I just need to make sure I can field XI this week with Nguen suspended and Hedenstad and Layouni doubts.

If I had more FTs would get him myself at the price. His big chances created are relatively good, and although hasn't had very many shots the ratio of shots on target to total shots is high (9:11). But not much in his stats//heatmaps to suggest continuity of this form. I don't remember if Gjertsen's results tallied with his stats though.

Need a defender up to 6.5 to replace Danilo for R3.

Already got Kimmich, Pique, Akanji and Varela.

Just tuned in after the WC game and threw a fist pump when I saw the cleanie was on. A few seconds later they show Linde sitting in the stands.

This bloke is beyond ridiculous now. Can't wait to ship him on wildcard. Absolute dud.

Too much discussion in the wc threads, so hope it's okay to ask here.

Any comments on my current wc+bench boost world cup team (mcd version)?

                        Sommer, Elshenawy

                        Neymar Ronaldo Salah

Three Egyptians. The rest are playing (hopefully) important games.

On topic: I think Marcus Pedersen will leave Strømsgodset this summer. At least that's what he wants. Have that in mind when considering him. He is also one yellow card away from suspension.

I shouldn't really comment on your team, as I've had a poor start. I only have Varela and James Rodriguez of those; heard Varela might not start the last match? Was just a single comment on the WC thread, so could just be a rumour.

Wouldn't be surprised if Pedersen leaves. Should be a club in a different league that might get him - Eredivisie perhaps?

I'm on wild card too and... Pedersen! ...I have the same Egyptians. How about some Tunisians? Might be some goals in that match. Do you think Layun's crosses will be effective when they meet big Swedes?

Yeah he was on my bench last but not anymore and never again. They're all Leighton Baineses these OOP defenders (or wingbacks) - never bench never captain. It feels so much better when they get a good score than when it's attaking player who gets the good score.
