The last World Cup 2018 quarter-final place will be decided this evening as Colombia and England meet in Moscow in a 7pm kick-off.

From a Fantasy perspective, there is only one place to start. Harry Kane (£11.2m) was the third-most bought player ahead of the round of 16 transfer deadline last Saturday, having attracted over 360,000 new owners in the McDonald’s FIFA game. Kane is now owned by 31% of Fantasy managers, with only Romelu Lukaku proving a more popular pick in attack.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker was lethal in his two group stage appearances, scoring from all five of his shots attempted inside the opposition box. Kane’s goal haul includes two successful spot-kicks.

Jesse Lingard (£7.6m) is, perhaps surprisingly, the next most-owned England asset, sitting in 16.8% of Fantasy squads.

John Stones (£5.9m) remains the most popular route into the England backline, having been selected by 14.6% of those playing McDonald’s FIFA. Gareth Southgate’s side have yet to keep a clean sheet at this year’s tournament but Stones has posed a threat from attacking set pieces, scoring on two occasions from five attempts on goal.

Colombia are without James Rodriguez (£9.0m) in their starting XI, with the attacking midfielder losing his race for fitness after picking up an injury in the 1-0 win over Senegal.

Juan Quintero (£5.7m), who has one goal and two assists to his name at this World Cup, and Carlos Sanchez (£4.3m) are the two most popular Colombia assets on show tonight, sitting in 15.2% and 10.4% of Fantasy squads respectively.

Yerry Mina (£5.8m), who has scored a goal and kept a clean sheet in both of his World Cup appearances, has been selected by 7.5% of McDonald’s FIFA managers, meanwhile.

World Cup Data

We’re delighted to offer World Cup data as an early addition to our regular season offering to help those playing Fantasy games over the summer.

We’ve secured Opta data, not only for the tournament itself, but also from the Qualifying Rounds for Europe and South America and for international friendlies involving the participating nations. This includes all the matches played right up to the tournament kick-off.

Just to stress, this World Cup offering comes packaged with the regular Fantasy Football Scout membership.

Why do English commentators always have the need to say English players' first name?

    "So close Harry"
    "Jordan should have passed that"

    It's so cringe.

The thing I love about this England team is that every player brings their own club style to the field. Kane, Trippier, and Alli play that Pochettino press and spreading the field for crosses. Sterling, Walker, and Stones start the attack from the back and run at the defense. Lingard and Young bring wide play inside. Henderson brings the Klopp press. Maguire brings the ball out of the back like he does at Leicester. It’s a bunch of different styles, different managements, all allowed freedom under Southgate. A real testament to a manager who can add that all up.
