Fantasy Premier League managers are encouraged to factor the Gameweek 2 set-piece match-ups in their transfer plans in the next few days.

In the first of a new series of Members articles we will assess where set play situations can be exploited each week.

Where this differs from the set-pieces tab is that we have added extra detail on how many of each set-piece has been taken so far, which players have had the most attempts from set-plays in terms of goal efforts, as well as how like teams are to receive or give away free kicks or penalties.

That way, by comparing each team’s overall set-piece data to find any mismatches, individuals expected to benefit from these situations will become clearer.

We ran similar articles during the World Cup and found them to helpful to Fantasy managers, hence why we have decided to bring them to FPL.

Obviously we only have round of data so far so it may difficult to find too many over-arching trends right now, but we’ll be building on this template every week for Members to use when making their transfers or deciding on team selection.

Any differences between the takers here and on the set-pieces tab are purely because that individual is not available in Gameweek 2. For example, Junior Stanislas is an important figure in set-pieces for Bournemouth but will not feature at West Ham through injury, so we have removed him the list of potential takers for this weekend’s match.

    Good morning everyone

So scored 91 last week and thinking of this move, can anyone talk me out of it?
Not often you use Kane a punt in the same sentence but feels like I am doing that this week. Bought him in and will make him cappie. Thinking is get him now so when he scores the inevitable hat trick I will cash in before everyone buys him. Yes I know its August …
Own Salah and Aguero so if can blanks the damage will be limited.

Aguero, Kun and Kane must be taking its toll elsewhere on your team.

Id hold. You got 91, majority will be chasing you and need to make 'punts'. If you own Salah and Aguero you have viable captain options already. Kane did not look good at Newcastle. I think he's an injury waiting to happen - looked fatigued.

Kane is supposed to be fixture proof, but Spurs have some tough ones coming up.

Made the move, just a question of captaincy.

        My current side
        Ederson (Hamer)
Shaw Mendy Robertson Luiz ( Wan Bissaka)
        Salah Richarlison Neves (Stephens, Masuaku)
        Zaha Aguero Kane

Bench nothing to shout about but rarely need them to play

To be fair it doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would with Salah Kane and Kun in there.

Did you take a hit to get Kane in?

Yeah -4 when I shipped Sanchez. He will score goals but cant justify that price tag. Anyway I am hoping that the August Hoodoo gets broken this weekend. Oh and I am a spurs fan which makes me biased, always easier to get excited when your player scores

Ya not ideal but having one so so player out of 11 to give me that firepower and wingbacks is ok. Something has to give. Besides will rotate him with WB when he is easier games

Kane was dreadful. Spurs weren't great either. Fulham are a good side, and really should have beaten Palace

Hey guys, I have Rashford and Jota who I want to get rid off, Rashford performance last game was awful, and I am thinking to sub him for Tosun / Zaha (I personally prefer Zaha, but he is gonna face Liverpool next week). Jota is gonna have a tough fixture against Leicester (away) and I would like to sub him for James Maddison. Any Thoughts?

I had this thought too, but keeping Rashford is a bit risky that he might not even start with LKK coming back

Definitely Rashford out first. He’s unlikely to start imo.

      Arnie/King/Zaha all decent options.

Maddison looks a good pick. Would that be a hit to sell Jota?

      1. Skhstanley
        • 7 Years
        7 years, 5 months ago

Cheers mate, Arnie is gonna hv some tough fixture so I don't fancy picking him.

I really love Zaha, but dont think that Crystal Palace could score against liverpool, so I may buy him at GW3.

King sounds a good pick to replace Rashy.

I wouldn't take a hit to sell Jota, would only sell him if I keep Rashy, so it is either selling him / rashford.

I wouldn't rush either for a hit. Wait on week and both teams fixtures get better. If you take a hit now you'll need Jota and Rashford both to blank and Zaha and /or Maddison to score/asssit. Maddison being the most likely of them 2. Even then you'll be on the same points as if you had not taken the hit.

If I owned Daniels, I'd imagine it was due to some sort of belief he provided attacking returns, so I'd probably pick him.

FWIW, I don't have much belief in either Daniels attacking returns or Bournemouth's ability to keep a CS away from home!

Drop Fernandinho for Jesus, play 4-4-2 which converts into 2 - 1 - 3 - 4 in attack? Aguero and Jesus as the spearhead with 3 creative midfielders in behind and wing backs overlapping.

Double Wolves, Sanchez and Rashford are the main problems. Possible solutions would be Zaha, DeBryune/Sterling and maybe Richarlison. Might be worth your while to hold the transfer and get another weekend of info and make 3 swaps for a 4 point hit.

Yes, Exactly my main concern. Rashford and Sanchez didnt look sharp last game. Wolves have to play against Leicester.

But I will give Sanchez a last shot. Magbe subbing Rashford for Arnie / Zaha

I currently own Tomkins and Wan-bissaka and apperantly a non playing 5th def. This feels awkward in the gw2 vs liverpool (also probably would not play both too often) so thinking of shipping one. Since i cant get a good replacement for Wan bissaka its going to have to be Tompkins. Im thinking Holebas before a potential prize rise tonight or is there another better option?

I wouldn't say country mile. You have your own opinion. I believe Mane has a greater chance of scoring more points as he plays in a further forward position. Also, Crystal Palace let Fulham get a lot of chances but they failed to capitalise on them. Liverpool can easily score 4 or 5 against them. So, in my opinion, Mane
