The Captain Poll is now open for votes ahead of Gameweek 3 and you can watch our video on the best candidates for the armband below or on our YouTube channel.

The early favourite is, not surprisingly, Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) who faces a very appealing home match against a Brighton side, who are notoriously poor on the road.

The Seagulls shipped nine goals in two league matches against Liverpool in 2017/18, four of them at Anfield in Gameweek 38. The Egyptian netted in that match and provided the assist for Dominic Solanke’s (£5.0m) 53rd minute goal too.

His case is, of course, strengthened by being Liverpool’s biggest goal threat against Crystal Palace on Monday night, even if he only managed two assists in the end.

Sadio Mané (£9.8m), owned by 31 percent, should prove a strong alternative candidate bearing in mind he is a must-have option for the 45 percent of Fantasy managers who do not own Salah, and remains ahead of him for both goal tally and FPL total score.

Either way, Liverpool assets are expected to dominate the captaincy debate this week considering that West Ham were the only top flight side to survive relegation in 2017/18 with more shots conceded on the road than Brighton.

Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.1m) hat-trick against Huddersfield on Sunday will naturally give him some backing for the captaincy this week, as Manchester City prepare to travel to the Molineux.

Wolves may have allowed fewer shots on their goal than any other side so far, but the fact that have still conceded four goals in two matches suggests there are areas to exploit for the reigning champions.

Aguero might be at slightly more risk of rotation this weekend but we will, as per usual, wait and see what emerges in the press conferences later this week.

After four assists in just two matches, the highly-owned Benjamin Mendy (£6.1m) is an option for a second week running. In fact, he finished third in the poll behind just Aguero and Salah for Gameweek 2.

After West Ham’s performance at Anfield in Gameweek 1 and a defeat at home to Bournemouth in Gameweek 3, Arsenal assets might also be worth looking at. The favourites there are expected to be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£7.0m).

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur’s meeting at Old Trafford reduces the appeal of a few usual suspects, namely Paul Pogba (£8.1m), Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m) and Alexis Sánchez (£10.5m) for the Red Devils and Harry Kane (£12.5m) and Christian Eriksen (£9.5m) from the north London outfit.

Does anyone have any idea why sane isn't starting? Thought he'd be a shoe in since he didn't go to the world cup.... Should I just sell for hazard?

I thought the 352 might have been specific to the Huddersfield game because of the way they setup defensively. Would expect them back to the 433 next week.

Happy with my squad for next GW. 2 FT though....

    Foster
    Mendy - Robertson - Tomkins
    Salah - Mane - B. Silva - Richarlison
    Aguero - Arnautovic - Zaha

    (Fabianski - Masuaku - Peltier - AWB)

Do something with Peltier or Masuaku?
Tempted by Mkhitaryan by don't think it's worth losing Silva just yet

0.5 in the bank to give me some flexibility.

Just have a gut feeling it may backfire, Silva should have scored at the weekend. If he had, then I wouldn't have been considering it. It's an easy switch to do though. And maybe it is time to be aggressive with my transfers...

Auba's pace could be too much for that West ham defence, but I wouldn't call it the easiest. A comfortable win, after a slow start they'll be looking to put on a good showing

As a West Ham fan I am bricking it sadly. I think West Ham can score, but conceding is a certainty. Shoddy at the back and despite all this investment, none of it went on a mobile defensive mid, which was the top priority.

That said, I can't get Arsenal coverage without selling Kun for Auba or Pogba to Mkhi for a hit. So I'm hiding behind the sofa.

Need help on what transfers to make for GW3. I have 2 FTs and plans to take an extra hit.

    Foster
    Mendy Robertson PVA
    Salah Mané Richarlison B.Silva
    Aguero Zaha King

    Bench: Fab Peltier AWB Stephens

Was planning on doing King, B.Silva, PVA —> Ings, Mkhi, Alonso

So long as you are prepared to keep Arnie come rain or shine, then the moves make sense. But Eriksen can get points against anyone and Firmino has a good fixture.

Precisely my issue. Would be one of King/Tosun, both with good fixtures for a few more weeks. Have my sights set on Arsenal attack but its screaming points left on the bench with B. Would ideally lose King for Laca but im 0.5 short and dont really want to downgrade Tosun to Ings/Mitro

Ideas welcome - I have 2 FT and don't want to waste them. Current rank 4908.

    Foster, Steve Cook, Robertson, Mendy
    Richarlison, Salah, Mane, Mahrez
    Zaha, Austin, Aguero

    Sub: Fabianski, W-B, Peltier, Hudson-odoi (4.4)

I want to give Austin another GW, although tempted to play it safe and just go Austin > Ings, and save. Conscious that the bench is not strong. I always w/c too late, and pay for it, so tentatively looking at GW5-7 w/c.

    Happy to take suggestions

Austin to Ings is a no brainer. Austin not looking like he will play > 60 mins very often. Ings is fit and fired up and are main hope for goals.

Nice rank brag, but then why not. 2,072 myself 🙂

Good team of course. I'd be tempted to do Austin to Ings as you say, plus switching out Peltier just for security. I'd say Hudson-O, but not sure who would be a good replacement.

Well done on the rank after 2 wks, I'd be looking at Steve cook, Mahrez and Austin to potentially mix it up - man city midfield is full of rotation, don't think Bournemouth will keep up this form and not sure Austin will score much in a defensive and limited Southampton team - I'm in a similar boat and done the Ings move then will use 2ft next week - Liverpool fixtures get tougher and tempted to consider hazard maybe mane switch?

After 7 FPL years of sticking to 343 pretty much without exception, it's really boggling my mind to try and play 4 at the back. So hard to wrap my brain round! All my usual assumptions, out the window!

I think its because a back 4 getting 1pt each looks so bad compared to 4 mids with 2/3 each.

I've been playing since 2006. always was a 343/352 kinda manager... 523 this season I started with. could not make a team I liked in the other formations

Have someone in my ML at work playing 532 and it worked out great this GW (94pts) with trip davies VVD robbo and shaw but think next week if none of these get a CS or assist. he Will have 25 points total

that's true! but with some of this attacking full/wing backs it's like owning a mid

I've been playing 31 years and never played a single player at the back more than I've had to.

Currently my keepers are Patricio & Stek. I have 1 FT, do i:

    A) Patricio > other 4.5m (if so which 4.5 is best)
    B) Stek > Hamer
    C) Keep FT

Huddersfield definitely stand out as a team to get spanked here and there.
West Ham will concede too many until they gel or sign a good DM in January.

Cardiff will struggle, Brighton will lose away most weeks and I can see Europa giving Burnley a tough year.

Any advice on my team would be greatly appreciated:Ederson/Hamer Robertson, Mendy, Alonso, Stankovic, AWB Salah, Mane, Richarlison, Fraser, Pedro Aguero, Wilson, IngsI'm considering taking Salah/Ings/Stankovic out for Mkhi/PEA/Steve CookBut I'm not sure, opinions would be really helpful..

    Salah, Mane, Mahrez*, Richarli (Hogg)
    Aguero, Zaha, Wilson

    A) Mahrez --> D.Silva -4
    B) Mahrez --> Mkhitaryan -4 (free money for Kabasele --> Alonso next week)

        Why the next week?
I'm losing on the price (Mahrez - 0.1 and Mkhi + 0.1) plus Mkhi plays against the desperate WestHam at home.
