This week the ScoutCast crew are determined to bust the myth that they share identical strategies.

Long-term maverick Luke returns to reveal his freshly Wildcarded team which bravely went into Gameweek 2 without Manchester City’s hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero and last season’s points-scoring sensation Mohamed Salah.

In stark contrast, Az is continuing his march up the rankings thanks to his faith in this premium pair, and his resolve in resisting broadsheet tittle-tattle hinting that the Argentinian would be dropped.

David is also beating a different drum and keen to explain the reasons behind his chequered FPL history and how his fortunes already look better this time around.

That leaves me as the only dullard representative, armed with a bunch of ownership statistics, a goals imminent table and a dubious ‘camping’ excuse to explain my recent poor captaincy decision.

Our differing views across a range of key issues facing Fantasy Premier League manages ahead of Gameweek 3 are aired.

Our assessment of Chelsea and Arsenal assets ahead of their favourable fixtures is top of our list. And we also ponder whether Spurs’ players can compete as assets this season and indulge in some bargain hunting up front.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

My current team below and 2FTs.

    Patricio, Hamer
    Mendy, VVD, Luiz (WanB, bednarek)
    Salah, mane, richarlison, bsilva (Cairney)
    Aguero, arnie, king

    What would you do?

    A. Bednarek to Bennett (boring I know) and roll FT
    B. King, Cairney, Luiz to kamara, Mkhi and Periera (Mkhi to play as 5th mid)
    C. Other?

    Bottomed, apologises.

    Think I'm set on WC:

    Fabri
    Mendy - Tomkins - Robertson - Periera
    Salah - Mane - Richarlison - Fraser
    Auba - Aguero

    Bench - Fodders.

    Thoughts? £0.1m ITB.

How do ppl think Dilva impacts Bilva? Will Dilva take away his share of assists? Will Bilva get more shooting opportunities? I've noticed Bilva only ever takes shots in the box in later stages of the game when one of the front three were already subbed out.

    BOURNEMOUTH - EVERTON

I'm really looking forward to the Bournemouth game in a few days!

I have Daniels and just switched King to Wilson. No Everton players, but I really think they have a good team at the moment.

What are your predictions? Will Richarlison spread fear or fails (I'm thinking fails)? Will King finally rise, making my switch to Wilson downright stupid? Lots of goals or none?

Because I have access to the Opta stats (like you do) and Richarlison carries much more goal threat and is cheaper.

Quite a few articles on the internet about him playing a Firmino type role, allowing Richarlison and Walcott to get in behind. The average positions show that too.

          My pleasure.

Due to approaching bad fixtures, it could be a nice move to downgrade Arnie (from GW4 onwards) and try to upgrade Luiz to Alonso.

Alonso is really justifying his premium price for now. I brought him in this GW, I hope he does well at least troughout the next 4 GWs

I don’t know, I suppose they both could play central midfield. I was considering Bilva more as being one of the 3 behind the striker

          Which 3 positions?

In a 4-3-3. Fernandinho sits and 2 of Bilva, Dilva and Gundogan start.
In a 3-5-2 (from last week) he plays right wingback with not much competition as Walker's delivery is currently not good enough

I wouldn’t think it’s set in stone that Bilva now plays RWB when they go 3-5-2. In fact, I’d be shocked if Walker didn’t come in for Bilva when they play 3-5-2, I’d imagine Walker is suffering fromWC fatigue, rather than it being anything to do with his or Bilva’s delivery. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Bilva never played another game at RWB & that was a total anomaly.

I think in a 4-3-3 Kun or Jesus is a given, as is Fernandinho. Which leaves 4 midfield slots, one central midfielder, two wide forwards, and a central attacking mid. I would see Gundogan being the central mid and 3 of Sanè/Sterling/Mahrez/Bilva/Dilva fighting it out between them for the other 3 attacking midfield slots.

If you look at the two centre midfielders' heatmaps Gundogan is always slightly behind Bilva or Dilva in the two games but not massively. Imo not enough to say one is midfielder and the other central attacking midfielder. The most notable thing is that one plays left and one plays right.

Having said that maybe he does see Gundogan as a must for the three as he is more comfortable deeper but I can't see why either Dilva or Bilva can't play a bit deeper if required. THey both have the skills to. The fact he was in the market for a central midfielder though makes me thing he's not completely convinced by Gundogan

It will be interesting to see how it works out. I think outside of a Kun, Mendy, Ederson, it’s a potential rotation minefield whichever way it goes. I’d have those three before using a city slot on either Gundogan or Bilva to be honest. But Bilva could well go out & score plus assist this weekend.

Regarding Walker. Maybe he will be given more chances to play RWB but I wouldn't dismiss it as just tiredness. If you look at the Arsenal game Mendy is WAY more advanced than Walker. I dont think there position is a coincidence given Mendy's delivery is a lot more dangerous than Walker's. In Pep's system a wingback has to have better delivery and it will be something Walker will have to work on

I would see it being much less of a stretch for Walker to do RWB than Bilva, wouldn’t read too much into the Huddersfield game, a much larger sample size required. Pep himself commented that Mendy was too advanced in the arsenal game so wouldn’t read into that too much either, but that’s what makes Mendy such a good FPL pick.

be good to know the reasoning behind Walker's benching (probably isn't one necessarily) - but if he wasn't quite fit enough for last week I'd expect him to return with Gundog losing his place to Bilva

Interesting, has Bilva played that role before for city? Alongside Fernandinho in midfield? If this happens he probably opens himself up to a lot more games

I think it is because of his delivery. At wingback you need to have good delivery and his isn't great for a wingback. This is why Southgate preferred Trippier wingback.

When he plays 4 at the back Walker is first choice

2 by about 50 million miles. Hennessey could lose his place, as could Guendozi, Romkins is made of glass, and Auba has yet to do anything of note this season (its well set up for him now admittedly)

Ederson though looks ridiculous value for 5.5, as does Pereira for 5.0, same with Mkhi at 7.0, Zaha is great, and you have Ings to cover if any of them don’t start

Qs - feel free to answer whichever one you want 😉

Firmino trained away from the main group today, plenty of Liverpool fans (on twitter) wanting Sturridge/Shaqiri instead due to him looking like needing a rest (I know that doesn't mean anything) - chance of that happening in your opinion?

Also, I have a feeling Mendy will be rotated for Sane at some point - could it be this week? If I get him, I'll probably need him to play to get an 11 out...wait another week and miss out on price change/s?

Shaw/Peltier look to be doubts for starts this weekend - is a transfer necessary or just hope for the best?

Arnie - pens are a nice bonus and I wouldn't be surprised to see him score against Arsenal...but is Ings just as good an option at 1.5 less?

    1. SweeSwee
      • 11 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

I heard Firmino had a red bib and Salah had a yellow bib.

Mendy to Sane isn’t exactly a direct replacement...think Mendy is pretty nailed.

If Peltier is in your first 11, rather than bench, yes I’d consider a transfer.

Prefer Arnie, let’s not forget Ings plays for S’ton

Firmino certainly looks at 70%. Brighton at home might be a chance to rotate FB's too.

I don't think Pep will play 352 away from home as it lacks pace on the counter (other than from Mendy, or Sane). I'm expecting to see the 4123 back with Sterling plus Mahrez/Sané.

      1) Can’t really are Firm being rested. Might get subbed early, but not left out of the XI. He brings a lot to the team and is highly rated by Klopp imo.

      2) No one knows if Mendy will be rotated I guess

      3) If you are counting on both to play, might need to do something. Not sure worth a hit

      4) Ings is a decent option, but I think Arnie will get some returns in the next 3 at least. No reason at all for the switch if you are not using the cash wisely

more of a fitness/tiredness thing really - I agree he probably will play, but the doubt is there I think
I only need one of them to play, so I might leave it
