Scarred by the resting of City duo Sergio Aguero and David Silva, Gameweek 27 will go down as one of the key periods in the Fantasy season as vice captains kicked in to gift or rob Fantasy managers of spoils. Sunday’s events didn’t fail to add their own twists with red cards, missed penalties and the return to form of Clint Demspey alongside the extraordinary contribution of Pavel Pogrebnyak.

Our members can now pick through all the statistics from the Gameweek and, as always, we’ve picked out some eye-catching numbers to digest. Of course, we’ve also included our prediction of where the Fantasy Premier League bonus will go…

          You'd be able to afford Carragher, but I wouldn't recommend him, his performance yesterday warrants being dropped for Coates tbh.

          I'm not sure it's worth a hit to double up on liverpool's defence

    A word on people who are chasing leads and considering taking risks to catch up points on rivals. For example, Marks advice to Granville in this weeks podcast...that taking risks and doing things different to those above you is a possible way forward.

    This advice just seems crazy. You surely just pick those players who you think will score highest till the end of the season. This seems obvious, but i never see it phrased like this, it's always differentials differentials. If those players are the same as your rivals above, tough, that's their benefit for being above you. But at least then you nullify the points that those above you could gain by having the same players with best potential for scoring. Surely if you're chasing a lead, it's better to have the RVPs of this world and hope that people above you either get rid of them or don't captain them at the right times. Then get less risky differentials that may make up the difference between the teams. Not get rid of them and go to bigger risks such as Suarez, on the tiny chance they'll have a bigger week.

    Probably not making my point too good here..but hopefully you see what i mean

      The way I see it there are two camps on here, those who believe in differentials and those who don't. Impressive Tackle wrote a great essay on the subject a while ago if anyone has it buggu'd (bookmarked)

      You're point is clear. People never pick exactly the same teams anyway and over a stretch of a couple of weeks a few differences in the players on your team could be a big point difference.

      If theoretically you and the teams above you did have the same teams every week, it would make sense to change your team (even if you think you're making it worse), so that you have a chance of overtaking. If you pick the same team as those above it's impossible to overtake.

      I agree - I always shake my head in despair when Granville talks about their being no point in getting "Player X" in as he has a high ownership. I just get whoever I think has got the best potential of points based on quality, form, field position, fixtures, etc.

      That said, I am probably getting Suarez in as it makes sense with his DGW and subsequent fixtures. Don't care if he has 0.1% or 50% ownership though.

      I agree to the most part, but there would come a time a few weeks out when you would HAVE to gamble (if you're trying to win your league) or you'd have no chance of catching up if your teams are too similar, even if it might mean you ultimately finishing lower if it backfires

        Actually scrap the first part of my answer (which can be debated) but the second part absolutely stands, there are definitely situations at the end of the game where it would be your only choice of catching up if your teams are very similar and you are chasing..

      They just try to make outside shot sound fancy bt saying differential. Always amuses me.
      But then their are players who are educated guess/risk, ones who people have not thought of yet. if they work you catch the people above you if they don't you fall further behind.
      For example last gameweek Yakubu, Walters, Mata, and Luiz. Not bad calls but they flopped.
      If they did well allied to the bit hitters, I could have gotten a very good score.

    if anyone has some advice on this mess i'd appreciate it. only 1 FT for GW28 but thinking an 8pt hit is worth it. I have:

    Ruddy - Lindegaard
    Kompany - R.Taylor - J.Evans - Kelly - Caulker
    Silva - Dempsey - Sessegnon - Cleverley - Ferguson
    Aguero - RVP - Ba

    4.9 in the bank

    im not really on board with dumping Aguero just yet, but... maybe..
    my thoughts are..

    Lindegaard->Reina for DGW and strong schedule
    Ba->Rooney
    Sessegnon->?? Pilkington/Surman/Howson...??? or Drenthe/Gibson for 1 week punt...

    I could also sit on Sess instead of dropping the extra 4pts but that leaves my bench thin...
    Any thoughts?

        im not too keen on S'Land, especially with their best attacking threat now out and L'Pool next fixture.. plus Kelly's fitness is uncertain and Ferguson rarely plays, so instead of having 7.3m on the bench seems worth an extra 4pts... good thing is i have .1 to lose on both Ba and Sess without dropping any sale value, so hopefully i can at least wait until after midweek games to make those moves...

      Ba to roo is fine
      then use all your funds to swap ferguson (or cleverly) to a liverpool mid like adam,gerrard or kuyt
      you can fix sess with the funds as well

      Gotta bring in some Liverpool players for the DGW.
      Ba to Rooney is good. Suarez is a must as captain for next week.

      Lindegaard to Reina seems wise. Ruddy/Lind aren't great options to have in goal. Reina seems set on getting a string of CS's now. I'm also contemplating getting him for Krul with Vorm as backup.

      Most weeks wasting 4 points on transfers isn't smart. For DGW players it is smart. I might even go for a 12 point hit this week. Maybe only 8.

        eh, Suarez doesnt fit into my plans. Reina for Lindegaard should pay for the 8pts himself, and Cleverley should be fit if he gets through Europa match ok, which could give me a full set of United for their Wolves match.. Its basically just the Sess-mess that i cant decide what to do with

    6 of my squad didnt play at all, and two of those that did got sent off!

    Considering all that im pretty please to be on 42 before bonus pts. What makes it even better tho is the fact that my biggest rival had Van Persie as captain and Im still beating him!

        Surman is nr 8. Why not sell Ba? He does not look as sharp when the play with him and Cisse imo. Two bad games and Suarez have DGW

          I mean he did hit the post and miss a penalty today. He could easily have converted both and nobody would be thinking about selling. Look at RvP against Bolton when he hit the post twice and was cleared off the line once. Next week he came back with 23 points, sometimes you just get unlucky. And Suarez, well he's Suarez and Liverpool don't look full of goals. they'd be in 17th in the league if the season started in 2012.

              Still it could be worth it and you can always get Ba back in. Losing value is not a huge deal at this point in the season I think. But I just don't trust Suarez.

    What to do with Valencia? Losing 0.3 on my selling price for him already. I think he has to go and then I may get him back when fit. Which on these to do tonight because I maybe priced out later in week:

    1 Aguero, Valencia —–>Rooney, 7.8M mid (Yaya) (-4)
    2 Aguero, Valencia, BAE—->Rooney, Yaya, Skrtel (-8)
    3 Aguero, Ba—->Rooney, Pog (-4)
    4 Aguero, Ba, Valencia —–>Rooney, Pog, Yaya (-8)
    5 Aguero, Ba, Taiwo—–> Rooney, Pog, Enrique (-8) (can take Yak and Skrtel instead)

    More I think avoid the more I am not convincing myself with the Pog.

    What do you guys think of these two options:

    A) Aguero to Rooney and Sess to a midfielder 6.6 or less. I'm thinking Morrison.

    or

    B) Sturridge to Rooney and Silva to a midfielder of 5.4 or less. I'm still thinking Morrison.
