I have Van Aanholt for the long term(having AWB as well and just transferred Zaha out to Mitrovic).
Rest of the defence is Fabianski, Patricio, Mendy, Robertson and Shaw and have 0.2 ITB.

    A) Stick with PVA
    B) Twist

hud/NEW are prime fixtures for him to hit some form, and his underlying attacking stats are half decent.

Are people still confident on Robertson even with Liverpool’s fixtures coming up. I know he’s an attacking left back but against stronger teams defences and attacks surely clean sheets are limited as are attacking returns. The big games almost always won by the big forward players

In general I think fixtures matter a lot less for premium players than the mid to bottom table teams. So would not take out Robertson or anyone else. Liverpool generally have performed better against the top teams under Klopp. So it may not actually be a difficult fixture. Do you think Spurs or Man City will stop playing a high line or passing from the back? If they do then Liverpool can actually score more against them than the more conservative bottom table teams.

Just look at Liverpool vs man city last year apart from etihad 0-5 (PL) 2-1 (CL) but Liverpool generally on the front foot in games at anfield

      2. jindermahal
        • 7 Years

But generally speaking defenders will get majority of their points through the defensive work. As unglamorous as it is, I think clean sheets wise Liverpool will struggle over the next 5 or 6 games.

Well looking at Chelsea Leicester Bournemouth fixtures over next 4 weeks I can see few more clean sheets heading their way. Robertson without a clean sheet doesn’t get bonus. So best you can hope for should they concede against spurs away Chelsea away and city home (all highly likely) is possibly some assist points ? J

If the premier league bring in VAR all of a sudden everyone will flock to penalty kick takers, won’t this unbalance the game a little?

The percentage rise in spot kicks at the World Cup was ridiculously large after VAR got brought in

If the Premier League bring in VAR then defenders may reduce the number of times they commit the sort of offence that results in a penalty being awarded by VAR.

Also, not all penalties are converted. This might favour those goalkeepers that are good at saving penalties.

How is this for a WC team:

    Etheridge/Patricio
    Alonso Mendy Holebas Bennett WB
    Salah Hazard Moura Fraser Billing
    Aguero Mitrovic Ings

Will switch Fraser out for Richarlison once he has served his suspension and will still have 0.4 ITB after making that transfer.

Usually I would not invest so much in my defence but the defenders keep racking up the points!

In my opinion Shaw is actually a better option than Holebas if you have that .4 ITB but I know its hard to look past someone who has already score so many points.

Easily. Just a few decent captain picks can change things around. Best bit of advice I can give is that we're only 4 weeks in; play the game as though you're not chasing and pick the players that you think will do best.

If you start chasing at this stage, you tend to make hasty picks.

It's quite simple really. You will need 200 jars of pickled onions, a wasp's nest, a nice ripe Epoisses de Bourgogne and an adult male llama. When you have got those post back and i'll take you through the rest of the procedure.

Can you do it? Yes easily, last year i caught my mini league and was 100pts behind halfway through season.

      Different ways to do it.
      A) play solid, no hits, just play the game as it is intended and have faith.
      B) build value, avoid losing value, then have a stronger team in latter half of season. This has been tougher strategy in last couple of seasons.
      C) go for under the radar differentials - you only need 2 or 3 to gain ground
      D) emulate - this is a bit of a cop out. Follow other seasoned players, and study their moves. They are "experts". Their decisions are mostly rational. This takes away from the 'gut feel'. But it could be saving you from yourself.
      E) play solid with any of the above approaches, then go all out in DGW. There are usually a couple of DGWs. A good DGW can easily swing 30-50pts in your favour.

It's not over, it's only been 4 gameweeks. Don't panic.
Also re-frame your thinking. There are another 34 game weeks, you only need to gain 2pts per week.

Currently sat on both Mkhi and Pedro after trying to avoid players with rotation risks.

My head says to bank a transfer and keep Mkhi,
so that I can swap him out for Richarlison next GW.

My heart wants to swap him this week for Maddison,
but that means I'd have to swap out Pedro if I wanted Richarlison...
and if I wanted Maddison after this GW, then i'll have lost 0.2/0.3m on the transfer due to his rise and Mkhi's drop(s).

Are you keeping or replacing Mkhi this week?

    1. MTPockets

Don’t think I will at this stage. Play it safe. Stats are there and that’s one tentpole I don’t want to mess about with- will be hard to force it back into position if I regret it!

Maybe Ramsey and Mitrovic over Kante and Lacazette.

Ramsey feels too risky but Mitrovic does seem like a decent pick. Just fixtures and concerns about Fulham’s establishment in the prem put me off

Outscored Firmino last season. Only 9 mil. No rotation threat. Pens, no more international football.

I know Robertson has been a much better pick than TAA, but we're coming to a period in the season where owners will be tested. Transferring Robertson is one, maybe 2 x FT's when getting him back, while TAA owners have an easier decision to bench.

Just have a decent bench to cover any possible rotation.. Robertson a season keeper for me

        Def not

Do something like Zaha, Cairney > Wilson/ Deeney, Fraser which will give you a decent coverage for one of Mkhi or Walcott not playing and de-risk having Zaha

What GW are people pinpointing for their first WC (if not used already).

Secondly, is it wise to WC just for the sake of a fixture swing, should you hold onto it until your team really needs it?

I'm holding on personally. Fixture swings are overrated and it's nothing that can't be tackled with 2-3 transfers.

If you rotate your big hitters around fixtures you'll likely miss out on a lot of points.

I believe that the smart thing to do is stick with your big hitters, as they will almost always deliver and instead rotate with mid to lower priced players and take bigger risks there.

Removing Salah now for example, since he has tougher fixtures coming up will hurt your OR if he continues to score well.

While removing your 5.0-6.0 players with low ownership won't affect your OR too much, but might give you a big rank boost if it pays off.

So no, I wouldn't use a WC because of a "fixture swing". The ONLY reason to use a WC is if you are not happy with your team. Simples.

And that could happen any GW. There is no right or wrong answer there.

This is my sentiment. Pre GW1 I ‘planned’ to use my WC in first international break, im sitting pretty and hope it continues!

          WC there for emergencies.

      Pick one please:

      A. Walcott and Mane

      B. Hazard and Fraser (-4)

      This is my team:

      Ederson
      PVA Mendy Alonso Robertson
      Salah Mane Walcott
      Aguero King Arnie

      Subs: Steklenberg AWB Guendozi Masuaku

Trying to avoid using my WC just yet and have 2 FT with 0.6 ITB with no Chelsea coverage.

      Would you rather have
      1. Mane (already own), Hazard, Alonso
      2. Salah (already own) and Hazard.

Thinking option 1, then can bring Salah back in on WC if I need to? Benefits of Alonso surely outweigh the upside of Salah (especially when at the moment there isn't any!)

      Worth WCing this 4-4-2:

      Patricio (Stekelenburg)
      Alonso, Mendy, Robertson, SHAW (Wan-Bissaka)
      Salah, Mane, MKHITARYAN, WALCOTT (Stephens)
      Aguero, ARNAUTOVIC (KAMARA)

      To this 3-4-3:

      Patricio (Stekelenburg)
      Alonso, Mendy, Robertson (BENNETT, Wan-Bissaka)
      Salah, Mane, MOURA, PEDRO (Stephens)
      Aguero, MITROVIC, WILSON

A very bad version of 532 imo. At least if you are playing 5 at the back get the best picks. Robertson better than Bavies, Shaw better than TAA and anyone better than Bellerin though I would suggest Trippier if you are determined to play five at the back. Downgrade bench if required.
