Is Lukaku back to his FPL best ahead of Gameweek 5?

Romelu Lukaku has the potential to complicate the plans of Fantasy Premier League managers in the coming weeks.

That’s because the Manchester United forward appears to be back to his best ahead of a run of favourable fixtures.

The Belgian’s underlying numbers have yielded three goals in as many matches so far in 2018/19, and five bonus points to boot.

When he was in form at the start of last season his ownership peaked at 60.2 percent in October, with his price at the time £0.8m higher than it is now.

So we’ve had a look at whether he’s worth including in our Fantasy squads again, especially considering he is backed by just 7.5 percent ahead of Gameweek 5.

Fantasy Football Scout members can read ahead, and also pour over Lukaku’s data in the Members Area.

His stats are good. But too high risk for this stage of the season

Two blanks and everyone will ship him out, highly doubtful. I think Southampton game is not easy as it looks

Southampton's lack of pace in the defence could mean a field day for Liverpool. Zaha not playing vs them was a gift, but having a pacy players vs Southampton defence=goals.

40% ownership. Doubt he will go that high. And fixtures ain’t looking good either. Couple of blanks for Mane and Salah hauls, casuals will sell him

    A) Lacca + Ramsey
    B) Auba + Schuerrle

I have a wildcard, no Fulham cover though. But is Lacca and Ramsey nailed? They could be explosive

    1. Differential C (Mark)
      • 8 Years
      5 years, 7 months ago

Laca is on the "one to watch" category. Looked the best attackijg threat. Much better value than Auba at the moment. But the fact that Emery is still figurng out his best XI puts me off. If Laca starts this week again, it is likely he is nailed, and therefore viable.
Keep if you have him though.

    Thoughts on this WC

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Alonso, Mendy, Holebas (Bennett, Wan-Bissaka)
    Hazard, Mané, Pedro, Fraser (Billing)
    Aguero, Lukaku, Mitrovic

Pedro Will most likely become Richarlison in 2 GW

Good picks. Not a fan of a 4.5-4.0 goalkeeper duo, would rather try for a 4.5-4.5.

Im still debating having salah in which case I would upgrade mane to salah and sacrifice moura and robbo for neves and chilwell. Makes benching a bit easier. Robbo has tough fixtures and losing moura doesnt worry me too much. How does that compare to my first team?

Salah team seems better. It's going to be hard to get salah in later if you adapte your squad without him.
And as you say. Robbo tough fixtures and if loosing Moura doesn't bother you I would go with a salah team instead.

Im on wildcard and you have too many options in striker department. im not sure what to do, but currently I have aguero lukaku and auba. cleared all Liverpool assets. I would go for Auba, as he is more nailed, but if you need money in midfield, then get Laca

Apart from Wilson they are cheap enough to be benched. I've only got Him and Fraser but i'd be fine with Rico or Brooks as well. I normally avoid triple ups but when they are basically enablers it doesn't really hurt.

I think i would start Wally if he is back, as Bennett, whom admittedly have a good chance of cs but does not have the same ceiling as Wally. I would say if it´s doubt over Wally starting i would prob pick Bennett, but you also have very good options in AWB and even H.Costa. Tough choice. I like your team

The striker situation is so interesting this year. With Wilson, Ings, Mitrovic, Arnie, there is arguably no need for an expensive striker. Kun had his Huddersfield haul, but if he is rested or blanks v Fulham that’ll be only one haul from his opening 5 games. Auba hasn’t exactly set the world alight either. Kane is priced very aggressively for the 220-ish points he might get if he does manage 30 goals. Kaku is just... Kaku.

Lukaku goes on runs. Could go on one soon. And with Liverpool's tough fixtures, you need a big hitter as a captaincy option.

Good point but it will create a spending problem in other areas as there is not enough premium midfielders to use the funds on? Hm, while saying that it does allow you to have Hazard in addition to both Salah and Mané, still leaving enough to have Fraser and someone in the 6.5m bracket. Hm.. Aguero is the reason why i´m not going there, yes just one haul, and his away form is a little bit to concern about, still a bit unlucky to at least have had one or two goals more. His secureness atm moment is the one thing that reason me to keep, but if rotation kicks in then it will change probably. Also, i think de Bruyne absence is a factor, because from what i´ve seen they (City) doesn´t create so many high numbers of big chances when KDB is not around. Not sure if that notion is backed by actual numbers.

Watched the City documentary (All or Nothing) over the past couple of days (on Amazon Prime, 30 day free trial). It was really very interesting and enjoyable (even as a MUN fan)!
Pep really rates Bernardo it seems for his jovial personality around the place as much as anything else (Pep even stated that he wont be leaving the club as long as he is there).
Walker & Stones seem fun guys and Mendy bloody 'ell, the man is a character!
Didn't realise Delph was such a vocal personality at the club and Kompany is just a legend full stop!
A must watch for footy fans!

Does it get much better after the first two episodes? I watched those and thought it was quite meh.

If you didn't take to it after the first two episodes, it's probably not your thing mate. Thought it showed some good insight into how a top EPL club operates so found it interesting myself.

I'd head great things so maybe my expectations were high. Seemed a little 'glossy' to me

I was the opposite heard little about (being based in China and all) and didn't hold any expectations! It is a bit on the 'glossy' side for sure though! But they are a glossy club tbf!

Lol @ Delph being a vocal personality. He's certainly vocal, however I can think of other descriptors for him than 'personality'.

For people that input FPL/Opta data and and analyse it in their own Spreadsheets, what kind of stuff do you look like?

Keen to try doing this but wanted some ideas to work off and then develop further.

Advice appreciated here guys, keep Lovren for a draft league game or get rid for Rico? Can rotate with Chilwell and Digne.

Tough one, but I’d get rid for Rico. Lovren isn’t as nailed as we’d hoped with Gomez playing well and Matip still around. Klopp wants to rotate too. LIV’s fixtures aren’t great either. I expect them to win most but not keep many clean sheets. The only LIV defenders I would have kept are Robbo and maybe VD.

This Wildcard is difficult. Initially, my plan was to downgrade Salah and spread the money out to get Hazard - Mane - Kane - Aguero.

But I just can't drop Salah... yet Hazard - Mane - Salah would be an unnecessarily expensive midfield and, if it comes down to preferring a 6.5 mid or 6.5 for, I'd say both are equally strong pools.

So would you go with Salah or Kane? Or be braver and go without both?

      That's why I haven't wildcarded yet,cant decide

If you like a calculated risk, the next 4 are a great time for a Kane punt.
If you're risk averse, probably stick with Salah.

Would you then drop Hazard or Mane? To fit Salah.

That's a harder question. I have Salah and Mane at the moment, not quite prepared to drop one just yet. My plan before last week was to do Mane > Hazard, but holding off on that for now. Maybe think about captaincy - would you be prepared to captain Mane regularly?

Need some advice: to WC or not? V happy with how its gone so far (top 50k)- but really want some chelsea assets (haz/alonso) for the upcoming games

    Current team: (3-4-3)

    Pickford (4.0)

    Shaw / Mendy / Robertson (WB, 4.0)
    Mane / Salah / Mikiytarian / Walcott (4.5)
    Aguero / Zaha / Arnautovic

    WC Team: (4-4-2)

    Patricio (4.0)

    Alonso / Mendy / Robertson / WB (4.0)
    Mane / Salah / Hazard / Fraiser (4.5)
    Aguero / Wilson (4.5)

(btw please don't leave any comments about my bench being weak, prefer to have all of my money on the pitch)

Nah, he stays, made my bed and fixtures too good to ship him out imo! If he had blanked last GW, I'd probably be considering it though!
