Everton take on rock-bottom West Ham United in the penultimate match of Gameweek 5, with kick-off at Goodison Park at 16:00 BST.

Theo Walcott (£6.7m) was the second-most-sold Fantasy Premier League player of this round, with over a third of his owners ditching the Everton winger after he picked up an injury in the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town a fortnight ago.

Walcott, however, has won his race to be fit for this afternoon’s match, along with defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye (£4.9m).

Richarlison (£6.6m), still the most-owned Everton outfield player in FPL despite his recent ban, sits out the last match of his suspension, while the injured Seamus Coleman (£5.3m) joins the lengthy list of players unavailable to Marco Silva for this afternoon’s encounter.

Jonjoe Kenny (£4.3m) – who recorded a clean sheet and an assist in this fixture last season – comes into the Everton starting XI in place of Coleman, with Tom Davies (£5.4m) making way for Gueye in the double-pivot.

Everton have yet to keep a clean sheet this season, but Jordan Pickford (£5.4m) remains the fourth-most-popular goalkeeper in FPL in spite of this.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) is the most-owned player on show on either side at Goodison, with the Austrian having scored both of West Ham’s Premier League goals this season.

The Hammers’ poor defensive record of ten goals conceded and no clean sheets has influenced over half a million FPL managers’ selections between the sticks: 70.8% of Lukasz Fabianski‘s (£4.5m) owners have benched the Polish shot-stopper this week.

Manuel Pellegrini has made six changes to the side that lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers two weeks ago, including the recall of Pablo Zabaleta (£4.3m) and Arthur Masuaku (£4.5m) at full-back.

Pellegrini has seemingly switched from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3, with Mark Noble (£4.9m), Declan Rice (£4.4m) and Pedro Obiang (£4.4m) the all-new central midfield three. The injured Jack Wilshere (£4.9m) is among those to make way.

Andriy Yarmolenko (£6.8m) gets his first Premier League start in a front three alongside Felipe Anderson (£6.9m) and Arnautovic.

Everton XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Digne, Zouma, Holgate, Kenny; Schneiderlin, Gueye; Calvert-Lewin, Sigurdsson, Walcott; Tosun.

West Ham United XI (4-3-3): Fabianski; Zabaleta, Balbuena, Diop, Masuaku; Noble, Rice, Obiang; Yarmolenko, Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson

No, no information yet other than what Pep said. And I've seen that has been taken out of context in some places, I think it's important to know that he was answering a question about Delph. The way I understood it was basically: It's very important for us to have an option such as Delph whenever Mendy isn't available. Whether it's weeks, days or longer doesn't matter.

So he was basically talking about Delph and how important he is whenever Mendy isn't available for whatever reason that may be

Just sat through 90mins of the quietest most uninspired Everton performance in months. Goodison was morose. There’s no back bone. I’d avoid any of our players in the short term. Bring back Tommy Gravesen.

It's one game. What is with fans and the sudden conclusions based on very limited evidence. Your best player returning just might make a difference.

Agree with you, really upset with myself that I let myself get carried away with your fixtures and other people's thoughts.

You do have some good players, however (not unlike Arsenal) until you start playing well any points is more due to luck than anything else.

    Schmeichel / Hamer
    Robertson / Mendy / Alonso / AWB / Peltier
    Salah / Mane / Pedro / Fraser / Stephens
    Aguero / King / Arnie

    Joe is right.

A wildcard should be played from a position of strength.

It should be used to take advantage of a situation and to maximise an opportunity in the near future.

I'm not wildcarding simply because I had a bad gameweek. That's for the birds.

If you're in a position of strength surely it's because you have most of the big scoring form players anyway?

            • 9 Years

Possibly. You could have a team that is doing reasonably well (i.e. position of strength) but you then wildcard to crank things up several notches.

            1. Rash
              • 8 Years

That's fair enough. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer really.. except the idea of playing it during IB for prices rises which simply ain't what happens!

Can you look at my question below would like your opinion please.

I agree with Virg, you can use it to build momentum, but there are points in a season when you need it to get out of a sticky situation, like if Mendy, Firmino, Aguero, Pedro, Arnautovic, all of whom I own, are out of the squad for a couple of weeks then it would make sense to play the wildcard

    2. Oven Glover
      • 10 Years

He should have played it a couple of weeks ago then.

I agree. I’m currently top of my mini league. Decent start (top 100k) and TV of over 102m.

I have played my WC this week as want to maintain momentum and jump on the fixtures changes and form players rather than sit on it until injuries etc....do it when it feels right, not out of desperation in my opinion...

what are pedro mendy and aguero owners doing?

pedro to fraser before tonights rise or waiting for news on aguero and mendy.

i dont see pedro starting anyway next week but if aguero and mendy are ruled out and need to be transferred, it may open doors to upgrade pedro to someone better than fraser

That’s what I did on WC (team is linked if you are interested). I think it should work well for a couple of weeks, but it’s not a longer term solution. It also means I can’t get on the Fraser bandwagon without a hit.

Looking good? Should i get Maddison over Rich?

This team is flexible enough for me to get back 1) TAA from Shaw, 2) Mitrovic from Wilson. 3) Lukaku + Fraser/Richarlison >> Mane/Salah + Ings anytime.

    Pickford
    TAA, Mendy, Alonso
    Fraser, Lucas, Haz, Salah
    Aguero, Jimenez, Zaha
(Speroni, AWB, Kaba, Odoi) 0.7 ITB 2 FT

Very good week of around 85 points. Thinking Pickford to 4.5 maybe patricio or Foster and then Odoi to a 5.5 mid. Thoughts?

    A) Pickford to a 4.5, Odoi to a 5-5.5 mid. (Not needed 2nd sub never mind third so don't know if worth)
    B) Upgrade Pickford?
    C) Downgrade Pickford, Kabsele to Shaw?

Pickford, Auba > Vorm, Kaku for -4?

If both Kun AND Mendy dont start next gameweek, then a WC would almost be an easy decision.

      I consider this to.
I also have Bilva, Pedro but no Hazard.
But I have Salah, Mane and Robbo. Home against Southamtpon next. Hmmm

if you want pedro and haz in your WC then you are looking at atleast 0.4 loss in TV by the time you get that info

Not sure. Salah is practically the striker in their system (Klopp’s own words)

Mane is as important as Salah to them this season.

With Aguero being a doubt, however small, If you had a genuine chance of your best ever overall rank next week, would you either:

A - Do Aguero to Kane for Brighton (and for the juicy Spurs upcoming run) and get ahead of the curve in the hope he starts firing (can’t carry on being this quiet forever surely)

B- Keep Aguero stay safe and hope to get there over time playing it dullard style?

I'm not completely against losing Kun, as I think he is likely to miss games here and there with CL rotation and perhaps there is value in spreading his funds elsewhere, however I would not be dropping for Kane. He just looks a shadow of his former self, completely off the pace.

I'll be keeping Kun. You can overthink these things.

Just re-watched the MOTD spurs highlights and i fear you may be right.

I am a sucker for an “exact money” transfer which is why i looked at it... but yeah you’re right, he’s just not at the races it seems.

        cue: hat trick haha

        Thanks for the input!

He's always capable of scoring. And he will get goals. But for similar money you could have a Salah, Hazard, Aguero, or for much less have Mitro or Zaha or Wilson who all look far more lively than him. I think he needs a holiday or something.

Spoke on here before GW 4 about doing the Salah to Hazard move from GW 4-8. Never did it as Richarlison got sent off and used my 2FT to downgrade him and get Alonso in.

So much regret right now for not doing it....and this awful hangover isn't helping. The Fear is coming.

Think I missed the boat to be honest. Salah home to So'ton next is not an ideal time to sell either. 4 goals to none is just hard to take

I got him in for the Cardiff and West Ham games

2 teams that cannot defend will be getting rid of him after the West Ham game

Does it look good for next week? Used 1 ft for Mkhi to Fraser would you use the other?
    Patricio(Button)
    Alonso Robertson Mendy AWB (Tomkins)
    Mane Salah Fraser *Walcott (*Jota)
    Aguero King (Kamara)
    1 ft,1.5 itb
Thinking of saving and evaluating next week.
Also could play Tomkins instead of Wally or probably just do Wally/Jota to Moura/Rich/Maddison now
