The second match of three this Sunday takes place at St. Mary’s at 14:15 BST, with Southampton welcoming Chelsea to the south coast.

Marcos Alonso (£6.9m) is the most-owned player on show here, sitting in 46% of Fantasy Premier League teams – though the Chelsea left-back hasn’t registered an attacking return in the last three Gameweeks and has only had two shots on goal during that period.

It is fair to say the primary focus of this fixture will be Eden Hazard (£11.2m). The Belgian midfielder is the most popular midfielder in FPL, owned by 44.8% of us, and was the most-bought player in any position in the run-up to Gameweek 8.

Hazard is the third-most-popular captaincy option of this round (over one million FPL bosses have placed their faith in him) and those handing him the armband will be optimistic of a better return than the “one-pointer” that Harry Kane (£12.5m) delivered on Saturday afternoon.

Maurizio Sarri has made one change to his Chelsea starting XI from the side that drew with Liverpool last weekend, with Ross Barkley (£5.7m) replacing Mateo Kovacic (£5.9m) in central midfield.

Pedro (£6.5m), meanwhile, is back among the substitutes.

Mark Hughes has changed shape and personnel for the visit of the Blues.

The usual 4-4-2 has been abandoned in favour of a 3-4-3, a system Hughes trialled in the Carabao Cup tie with Everton in midweek.

Jan Bednarek (£3.9m) and Maya Yoshida (£4.2m) join Wesley Hoedt (£4.4m) in central defence, while Manolo Gabbiadini (£5.6m) lines up alongside Nathan Redmond (£5.3m) and Danny Ings (£5.7m) in the front three.

Southampton XI (3-4-3): McCarthy; Bednarek, Hoedt, Yoshida; Cedric, Hojbjerg, Lemina, Bertrand; Redmond, Ings, Gabbiadini.

Chelsea XI (4-3-3): Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Barkley; Willian, Giroud, Hazard.

Well in response tot he top post, yes I am absolutely wrong. it was obvious Kane would do crap and get only 1 point against world beaters Cardiff and it was absolutely obvious that Hazard would do well against Southampton. I am a blind moron. Thanks.

He'll get +3 which would make him even with Aubameyang, but that doesn't account for the deductions which haven't happened yet.

My guess is Aubameyang keeps the max.

I've always thought that given his ability level he should be scoring ~20 league goals per season, especially given he takes penalties.

He has always been less greedy than similar players and should be shooting more. Too often he seemed content to score one goal in a game then try to assist other, less capable players. He needs that ruthless streak that the likes of Suarez and Aguero have where they will score 4 goals in a game. He looks like he might have it this year under Sarri.

I called the Kane flop before the game and backed it up with some stats.

I captained Kane because is simply couldn't take the risk with such high ownership and captaincy. That's how it works

If you took the time to read my post instead of just being aggressive then you would understand that I captained Kane because the rest of the top 1K captained him, so I wish to remove captsincy as a factor that can trip me up. Well the score was 1-0. If you prefer to ignore any investigation of why that might come to pass in favour of choosing your captain based on playing teams who are 'shite' then that's fine. That doesn't sound much like drawing your captain out of a hat though

I predicted 1-4 before the game. Not fussed, injuries atm really hurting us.

He is indeed but sometimes the price tag plays a factor even though a more expensive player doesnt neccesarrily mean they are better in FPL terms

All the Kane (C)'ers logged off, so bitter.

Not bitter at all - just disappointed with my own judgement and holding my hands up and thinking
"Fair play to the Hazard owners/cappers" 🙁

Captaining Kane was 100% the right move if you had him and I'm a Hazard (c). Sometimes you can make the statistically correct decision and not get the right result. That's variance, that's FPL.

I agree, if you had Kane surely you had to captain him at home vs. Cardiff. It's the people who brought him for a -4, and likely to sell him for another -4 that I don't get.

obviously. But if you're on the right side of the coin, its skill. On the wrong side of the coin, people put it down to luck.

Disagree. It was a poor decision.

If we all had unlimited funds and transfers, nearly everyone would have Kane(C).

It is fun to wind people up though 🙂

Still needs to be an appreciation that you need luck from one week to next! Big difference between captaining hazard versus Allisson this week and hazard vs Kane

Exactly this, you win some you lose some. Unlucky Kane cappers

Eriksen and Alli out though so was always going to be tough. Call it hindsight or whatever.

Bringing him in especially for a hit was not though.

Thats very true. However i have been burnt so many times by Kane last season when he blanked against lesser teams. So i wouldnt say this is entirely unexpected
