Is it time to invest in defence of Season Ticker high-fliers Brighton?

Brighton and Hove Albion’s budget defensive options could attract some long-term Fantasy Premier League attention very soon.

The Seagulls recently recorded their first clean sheet of 2018/19 in Gameweek 8, which was well-timed with them ascending to second place for defence on our Season Ticker over the next 13 matches.

We’ve decided to look into the numbers to see if Chris Hughton’s men can be trusted with what, on the surface, looks like an extended run of favourable fixtures.

    Stekelenburg
    Robertson, Trippier, Shaw
    Dilva, Richarlison, Maddison, Lucas
    Kane, Aguero, King

    Pickford, Cairney, AWB, Kabasele

Me personally, Id be thinking wc if available. GKs need changing, Shaw needs to go and I dont think Kane is worth the money right now. Also no Liverpool attacking cover would concern me.

My PPG orientated wildcard team. 0.0m itb.

    Ederson (5.4), Steele (n/a)

    Alonso (7.5), Mendy (7.4), Trippier (6.6), Robertson (6.1), Doherty (6.1)

    Hazard (9.3), Mane (6.0), Fraser (6.0), Richarlison (5.5), Masuaku (n/a)

    Wilson (6.1), Lacazette (6.0) Arnautovic (5.3)

I've got my misgivings about all the premium strikers (10m+) and I think Lacazette might just be shaping up to having the kind of season he had in 16/17 anyway.

Looks like a strong team based on past results.
But it doesnt rate particularly well on RMT. Only 360 points (60 points per week).

Scores of over 380 are easily achievable.

Of course RMT is just speculation, so should be taken only as a guide.

I like it. I think Mendy could be better value than alonso though. could do Alonso>Mendy then Bennett>Yedlin as brighton newcastle rotate well.

Maddison, Richarlison and Sigurdsson are an interesting midfield trio for me. All three have over performed in goals and assists (when comparing to xG and xA) even after if you assume that that they are above average in assisting and finishing.

Maddison's fixtures turn for the good after GW9 so you can understand sticking with him.

But what about Richarlison and Sigurdsson? Everton have had a relatively easy first 8 GWs and the fixtures are about to turn after GW9 (play 5 of the Top 6 teams in there next 10 GWs). So what to do with these guys - any thoughts?

I see defence as a no change zone, certainly for the next 4-6 weeks.

With RAM available and TAA, there’s just no room for Brighton.

Maybe if city or Liverpool start to concede goals, or Alonso gets injured, but as it is you can have a double City, double Liverpool + Alonso GK & defence for under 30.0 (29.0 if you wildcarded early & got in at baseline prices)

That leaves you free to concentrate on the 6 attacking positions. Three of which are Haz, Kun, Salah (!).

Really comes down to the remaining 3 attackers & the bench.

    Ideas?

    Patricio — foster
Alonso Robbo Doherty shaw —- awb
Salah Maddison Richarlison — Stephens Camarasa
    Kun kane king

    Assuming salah is fit:
A: shaw >> dunk and next week do Stephens/Kane > hazard/Jimenez (-4). Would prefer to bring hazard in gw10 after the united match

B: shaw >> dunk and WC in gw10 to bring in hazard, arnie, Mitro, remove foster

    If salah is injured:
    C: Salah + Shaw >> Hazard + Mendy (-4)
    D: Salah + Stephens >> hazard + Knockaert (-4) and switch to 343
E: Take a punt (sterling?) and then WC in gw10 as planned to bring in hazard, arnie,Mitro, mane/Firmino possibly

A healthy Gross would have been a boon for this run of fixtures. However injury and loss of Penalty duties has rendered the point moot.

He's like the Eriksen (loss of set piece duries/injury) of Budget Midfielders.

Manu defence is the big one.
To a lesser extent Spurs have been disappointing all round

But I think this season has had far more pleasent surprises than disappointments - budget strikers, wolves defence, budget mids.

        Hi TM.

        Patricio
        Trippier, Doherty, TAA
        Hazard, Moura, Maddison, Fraser
        Kane, Aguero, Mitro

Hennessy, WB, Hojberg, Delph 1ft 1.3 itb

I have been planning on doing Delph to Mendy/Robertson this gw but it leaves me with a benching headache.

Likely doing Moura & Kane to Salah & Arnie next gw.

Need to see how Fraser is. Making those 3 transfers equals -4 but looks the correct order if Salah is out for just a GW. Wouldn't expect much from Spurs this week.

Mane and Laca sound good however is a risk for a hit. Looking at your team though i think you have enough up front for next gw with mitro and kun. Midfield could struggle though and obviously you have to take kane out to afford mane. its a tough one but i probably would take the hit...

Could Firmino (9.3m) be a better shout than Mane (9.9m) if you don't own either and want to get a Liverpool attacker in? I understand that many already have value tied up in Mane and if you already have him it makes sense to stick with him but for those of us without him is anyone considering Bobby? He's known to go on runs of blanks followed by runs of consistent points and certainly has the fixtures to put together one of his scoring streaks. I kind of feel like everyone is ignoring him and putting him down as an option because he isn't part of the current template. Shouldn't we be looking to get players in before they score their points, not after?

I'm just saying players always seem to be good/bad options on here based on their points in recent weeks rather than their points potential in the weeks to come. Maybe I'm not explaining myself as succinctly as I would like but I'm pretty sure you get the gist of what I mean.

I don't think not scoring many against two of the best defences in the league is an indication of bad form. Their last good fixture was Southampton. They scored 3 in that game.

Even then wasn’t a great performance. Not the old fluidity. I’m sure Salah and Mané will get points but personally will take a punt on others.

Certainly considering on a WC, as other options then to team up with Salah+Robbo is either TAA which means one of Alonso or Mendy must go, or Mané whose returns has tailed off considerably last GW's. Surely Firmino should be able to get some returns.

if Spurs doesn´t get any of their injured players back one would say the difference in quality isn´t much between the two sides? In other words, tough fixture for Spurs?

Not sure I would WC if im entirely honest.

in terms of changes then possibly stick to stick playing 3 at the back : Alonso, TTA , Doherty use the extra money you would've spent on getting Robbo to upgrade Mane to Salah.

Really not sure what to do but leaning towards Trippier to Mendy and keep one transfer. My other thought is probably madness in switching Mane and Aguero to Sterling and Firmino?

        Ederson (Stekelenburg)
        Doherty, Trippier, Robertson, Chilwel, Duffy
        Maddison, Mane, Hazard, Fraser, Hoijberg
        Aguero, Lacazette, Mitrovic

Trippier to Mendy sounds good to me, Spurs fixtures and form both not great. No that does not sound like madness to me, Sterling could be a good differential for this week, usually does well at home and he has Burnley.

Still wavering whether to hit the WC button or not. Was my original plan after doing a one week punt on Kane last GW, but now Salah situation has got me hesitating. As Salah price has such a big impact on acihievable team structure, its a bit of a headache. I'm tempted to roll this team into GW9 and postpone WC until picture is clearer. No City is a worry too, but who to get on WC is directly influenced whether going with Salah or not. Don't fancy waiting until Friday pressers before WC'ing, want a week of tinkering around with team. Team is

        Patricio Hamer
        Alonso Trippier TAA Doherty WBA
        Hazard Mané Walcott Fraser Knockaert
        Lacazette Kane Ings

So , what would you do:

        A) Hold WC, and expect a bad GW , upside is more information on Salah and also Mendy/KDB situations

        B) Play WC, and hope to get info whether Salah plays or not by Friday. Problem then is getting him in for posible GW10 will require team surgery.

        Cheers!

Teams are somewhat similar so I hope isn't a bad game week ! Personally I save the WC for next week

I think Aguero will be the popular captain choice next week so possibly get him in for Kane

Haven't given it much thought yet. Current bench order is Walcott Knockaert WBA. But considering playing Wally for Ings or Doherty even. His stats have actually been decent last two GWs.

You could make a case for Wally, Ings, and Doherty this week.

can´t you just make Kane into Jimenez and then Knockaert to Salah while waiting? Kane wo´n´t go up in price and Knockaert probably won´t before late next week

1.6 iTB and one free transfer

          Patricio
          Alonso Doherty, Trippier
          Richarlison, hazard, Salah, Maddison
          Mitro, Aguero, Wilson

          Hamer, Bennett, hojberg, AWB

          Options are

          A) upgrade Bennett to TTA but this would give me a benching headache ( I know first world problems). I would probably would want to play four defenders and this would benching Wilson

          B) swap hamer to fabs ( rotates well with Patricio)

          C) something else
