The penultimate fixture in Gameweek 28 brought us yet another dramatic finale involving Arsenal as Arsene Wenger’s side bundled a winning goal at the death to deny a battling Newcastle.

Statistically, there were some outstanding performances on show which we will break down in a moment, along with our prediction for the Fantasy Premier League bonus points.

Firstly, there was also a dispute involving the assist for the winning goal. The assist for the touch on Theo Walcott’s cross was first awarded to Robin Van Persie and then removed and handed to Aaron Ramsey. It’s unclear whether Ramsey did indeed get a clear touch on the cross before it was blocked by the defender in the box but, interestingly, Opta have also confirmed a Ramsey touch on Walcott’s cross. While this goal and the award of the assist could yet be reviewed by the Press Association, right now it sits with Ramsey – denying Walcott his second assist on a night where he sparkled on the right flank.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think FPL should have a policy where the dead teams will be removed if inactive for a certain number of weeks in a row... with a warning email to the managers beforehand perhaps.

why? it's their disadvantage that they aren't making transfers or keeping up with injuries, fixtures, etc. and they make nice opponents in the fantasy cup 😀

Not always their disadvantage! Maybe in the long run it'll catch up to them but I can't stand people creep up the rankings when I know for a fact that they've given up for 8/9/10 weeks in a row.

This is crazy. Who's to say that you can't set your team at the start of the season and not make any transfers? If they're doing better than someone who spends a lot of time on their team, fair play to them!

What's the point of signing up then? Unless there's such a thing as a "choose and leave" league, which is kind of ridiculous IMO.

Dead teams bring down the average. Imagine if only active teams were counted in the average. Average would beat most of us nearly half the time.

good point. can't have any drops or rises though... thats the only thing im worried about.

can only afford evans if i get rid of skrtel or enrique for him but was planning on keeping enrique and getting rid of skrtel for city or spurs defense. and not sure who i'd drop for evans as i like simpson and kelly.

im saying if i do my proposed taiwo and sess out valencia and caulker in i would have 0 in the bank so wouldn't be able to get evans anywhere without downgrading a pool defender to him or downgrading elsewhere and upgrading simpson or kelly

If you have a good bench this week, I'd really avoid making any transfers at all, let alone taking hits.

Very unpredictable as to who might get injured/rested. Also, we're going to have a few games (FA Cup) after the deadline.

Ah I hate to say this, but this isn't 2009-10.

The Drog will be rotated with Torres on and off, especially for the easier fixtures. Depending on what happens this week, we might still be in Europe/FA. If we're out of both of these, then maybe....Then again, he isn't in amazing form to warrant his price.

I keep saying this.....Mata's your man! He's going to flourish if we return to some form.

Really feel bad for you, H.

Completely unexpected. Considering he benched Mata, Studge, Luiz and Essien and took off ivano early, it obviously means they were being rested for the Napoli game. I can't see how Luiz will be above Cahill in the order.

2 do-or-die games in 4 days coming up, Tina.

Mata needed the rest - hasn't been rested at all since he first started in Sep. But clearly, RDM realized we aren't going to gain the cutting edge without him. 4-3-2-1 and Mata's been given the free role. HUUUUUUGE potential.

All well. Nice 30 deg since Sunday and up until Thursday. Off to watch Stormers vs Blues at Newlands this Friday.

Ba-->Ade seems to be the flavour of the month. My mini league leader also has Ade. I just have a bad feeling about Ade/Spurs at the moment. The fix say ye, but form? Bale not enough cover? Any chance of Spurs getting their fix back in gw 34?

Do you think it is worth using my 1FT (0.3m) in the bank to replace Pilkington or should i just play McClean away to Blackburn for GW 29?

Anyone here actually looked through their FF history and figured out what their mistakes/strokes of brilliances of the season have been?

I'm fantastic at drafting in prospectively good players, but for the first 20-odd gameweeks or so, I never play by best XI and it costs me from 5 points (a clean sheet or an assist missed) to double digits (Ba was on the bench for me when he scored a hat-trick).

    Anyone care to share theirs?

eg: Not buying Nani(18 pts) gw 15, vs Wolves....even better, I actually sold Rooney(12pts) for that game. Feck me.

Only thing that tops that is not Rvp(c)vs Blackburn. Probably worst day of my FPl career.

          I predicted, Nani(18) gw 15, Dempsey(13), gw16. Can't remember the 3rd. Then I lost my mojo...

Not jumping on the Sinclair/Walters/Sess bandwagon despite their form and persisting with the 4 pricey + 1 budget mids 🙁 Also not having any United players esp Young early in the season burned me big time.

Well technically you can't buy Mata too early as he never sustained form (he's never had 3 games back to back where he contributed significantly) and bad luck on Nani, a lot of people were counting on him to reproduce last season's form. So what's the plan now?

There are 2 interesting things about that:

        1) Why did you draft BAE in the first place if you didn't like him? Knee Jerk?

        2) Why not have 2 Spurs players for the DGW when BAE can hang around your subs after the DGW and you can transfer the weaker fullback out after the DGW?

Getting the FFS bandwagons of Drenthe and B Arfa AT THE SAME TIME! I also ignored Bale and Ba. This period over Xmas destroyed my season.

Having missed out on Rooney's form early season (lured in to the Torres trap...) I wildcarded in GW4, brought in RVP and captained him virtually every week from then on when many people didn't have him. I'm now 106th in the world 🙂

On my first WC I had BAE in my team (GW7) I decided to go for Kaboul after FPL said BAE was ill, and I soon transferred Kaboul out before Spurs started getting cleanies.

I've also had 2 chances to bring in Dempsey, was set on it for Jan WC, but was convinced to keep Mata. Then before the Wolves match I did Bale -> Nani instead of Dempsey, which has cost me a few points.

Generally, I seem to begrudge bringing in players who have had big price rises, which hasn't worked out. It's my first year, I'm learning.

I see. Well bringing in ANY Spurs defender was always going to be a risk, so anyone that plays with fire has to afford getting burnt.

The funny thing about players with price rises are that they are usually either
        1) On the back of a hat-trick or Back-to-back successes
        2) Players who have shown up on FantasyFootballScout readers' who read the KneeJerk article
        3) Someone who had done REALLY WELL against a top 6 team (Ba v United, Rooney, Holt etc.)

So keep these reasons in mind before joining a bandwagon and you should be able to tell whether you actually NEED to join it.

It depends on what role you think this striker will play. Do you want him to play 90 minutes and have a small chance of getting points(Class 1)? Or do you want him to play sparingly, sitting on your first subs and doing well randomly in games(Class 2) ?

Class 1: Graham, Yakubu, Odemwingie, Fletcher
Class 2: Hoilett, Everton forwards, Mackie

I suddenly have lots of injuries/rotation risks this week and I sadly need to ditch Kompany. I was thinking about Squirtle (yawn) but also tempted by Sylvain Distin as the cheapest nailed-on entry into Everton's blossoming season. Any thoughts?

Distin is dangerous, considering for a 5.1 player his only source of points are clean sheets and the odd goal. You might as well invest in Tim Howard, or perhaps a cheaper defender and a slightly upgraded striker? Everyone seems to be having trouble picking their third striker nowadays

Might be his last week this week. Especially if the Pog fires and Ba fails

I'm benching vs ManU. Was thinking he might be (c) vs Nor, but I will keep an eye on ManU mf's and how Nor/New pan out this gw to make plans for possible replacement.

Would be unfair to sell prior to Nor i suppose? Timing is vital, as with the sale of Sessgnon.

for me alot depends on nani, if he is out or fires a blank this week then ill probably shift him and keep dempsey

just unsure really so after opinions and it seems pretty split

Keeping him all the way to the end. Demps is always going to be class, so unless another midfielder at that price that I don't have outperforms him (Bale Walcott and Yaya Toure comes to mind) then I'm keeping him until the end of the season. IMHO

Point taken. There's still no reason to drop him, considering he has 2 Home games in the next 3, and Bolton away after that. If you can suggest a better alternative, then by all means go for it. I got Demps in the 8.4 range, so I can't complain about letting him go OR keeping him.
