Salah’s effective ownership balloons as Triple Captains played

It has been a quiet Gameweek in terms of chips used in the top 10k.

Actually, for the first time this season, the most-used is not the Wildcard.

Only 0.62% of them were activated in the top 10k as opposed to 1.15% active Triple Captains.

The vast majority of those were placed on Mohamed Salah (1.05%), with Sadio Mane basically being the only other triple captained player (0.09%).

This is understandable ahead of Liverpool’s Anfield meeting with Fulham’s poor defence on Sunday. The Cottagers have conceded 29 goals this season, more than any other side thus far.

This interest in Liverpool assets is very evident in captaincy polls as well. Salah is the top target with 59.58% while Mane is second with 26.93%.

That raises Salah’s effective ownership to 121.76% being the only player this week with more than 100% average weight in the top 10k.

The closest to him is Eden Hazard with 92.98% and Sergio Aguero with 87.82%.

However, this very high effective ownership of Salah doesn’t actually mean he is in all teams at this bracket.

The Egyptian is actually in just 61.1% of the top 10k squads. Most of them captained him, which is why his effective ownership is almost double his raw ownership.

In fact, Salah is ranked ninth when it comes to basic ownership in the top10k

Ahead of him is Hazard (86.11%), Aguero (85.4%), Marcos Alonso (83.4%), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (77.2%), Andrew Robertson (70%), Marko Arnautovic (69.6%), Richarlison (67.9%) and Callum Wilson (62.4%).

Meanwhile, Marko Arnautovic has emerged as a very popular option amongst the game’s current best managers. Supported by his good form and appealing upcoming fixtures, he is currently the second highest-owned forward in the top10k and was transferred in by 28.6% of these managers this week.

The main fall-guy for him is Aleksandar Mitrovic whose top10k ownership dropped from 37% to just 5.9% in a matter of days.

While Mitrovic’s usefulness was clearly at an end anyway, such a swathe of sales shows the influence of the market. His value was on the fall all week, and these managers may well have also sold him en masse to avoid falling foul of that.

We could possibly see this as a sign that the so-called ‘template team’ can quickly change when it needs to.

For example, if we look at the Wildcard template of this week, we see Arnautovic and Mat Ryan making their way into the active teams.

Meanwhile, the defence options seem to be a bit static at the moment. The usual suspects of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Alonso, Robertson and Benjamin Mendy still lead the way in most squads.

Despite strong upcoming fixtures, the top 10k are yet to really invest in Arsenal attack. Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have effective ownerships of 10.22% and 3.73% respectively, largely on account of such a cluster of value forwards.

On the other hand, while Manchester City the Manchester derby ahead of them, interest in their assets is still very high.

Four Man City players have effective ownerships of higher than 10%, namely Aguero (87.8%), Mendy (56.1%), Ederson (26.5%) and Raheem Sterling (14.1%).

Not surprisingly, if we look at the Premier League teams with the most players per top10k team, we find that Liverpool and Man City are tied in the first place as they both provide 2.1 players per FPL team at that level.

Arsenal are not even in the top 10 sides represented in Fantasy teams in the top 10k.

Chelsea are a close third with 2.0 average players. Wolves, West Ham and Bournemouth provide 1.3, 1.3 and 1.2 players respectively.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool and Man City players will repay the faith of both their football and Fantasy managers this week.

Want to bring wolves defense in the team to free funds and catch those good fixtures

    A) ederson to Patrício +1,3
    B) Mendy to Doherty + 1,7

The plan is to ship Fraser (2ft) . B would allow martial, but A would be short...

      Trippier + Silva -> Doherty + Sterling?

      Would give me:

      Allison Hamer

      Robertson Mendy Alonso Doherty AWB

      Hazard Sterling Mane Maddison Fraser

      Arnautovic Wilson Jimenez

No heavy hitters up top, but plenty of Captain material further back.

I have 2 FT and still have my WC intact.

Have enough money now to do Trippier and Mitrovic to Alonso and Rondon.

If Alonso makes it through today’s game unscathed then I think I’m going to pull the trigger on it tonight.

Worst case scenario is that someone else in my team gets injured and I either have to take a hit or use WC (which I’ll be using in a few weeks anyway).

May as well do it, right?

Trippier might be out (2 tough fixtures anyhow) - Kane hasn't really been performing compared to others (Kun / Auba) also two tough

Gray isn't likely to get many points imo

Murphy / Success bench fodder - weak too (Deeney is back)

Not sure on whether Lovren is nailed

Yeah you could wait a couple of GW's and then set it up for xmas say GW15 since you can make some adjustments

                  Fraser > Martial

But defo hold fire on the WC

Yes, Doherty is now seriously coming into my thinking.

Could do Mitrovic to Arnie as well with the spare cash, don’t mind keeping Fraser.

No need to rush into things now, as plenty of cash to do Doherty at the end of the IB.

                    Thanks chaps.

Use 2ft to bring in potential double risers over international break with good short term fixtures then wild card for fixture swing around gw 15.

Looking at it, Doherty may be a better pre WC move anyway. Two great fixtures coming up, Chelsea have Spurs next.

However, if Robbo is benched today then that’s another question mark to think about.

Some news about Trippier? The most reliable FPL defender so far. If I need to get rid, what to do?

    A. Trippier -> Doherty. Good 2 fixtures ahead
    B. Trippier -> Digne. Great 3 in next 4. Much better team than A.
    C. Trippier -> Doherty-> Digne in 2 weeks. Losing FT.

Other defenders are Bennet, WBA, Mendy, Alonso as usual and Fab/Fos.

    Alison (Hamer)
    Alonso Robertson Mendy Bennet (AWB)
    Salah Hazard Richarlison Fraser (Billing)
    Aguero Arnie (Success)

Plan is to downgrade Salah to Mane and upgrade Billing to play 3-5-2. But GTG next GW?

There is no stand out option.
After yesterday's goal and considering WHU fixtures Anderson seems to be peoples favourite.

      Check hot topic.

Prem saying no to VAR this season looking dumber by the minute. Doesn't help that the officials are as incompetent as they are though, there seems to be one howler of a decision every single game

No one is saying it isn't - and thats why var needed...but the decisions in that saints Watford game were laughable. You feel that any punter off the street with no training could have got those right.

Who would you rather have? Siggy or Martial? Or anyone else sub £7.6m

Or even upgrade a defender instead. Would you rather have Alonso or Robbo than them two?

Which transfer would you do with this team?

    Patricio
    Alonso, Mendy, Doherty
Salah (c), Hazard (VC), Richarlison, Fraser
    Aguero, Arnie, Wilson

    Hennessey, Bennett, Højbjerg, AWB

Most people around these parts seem to be doing pretty well this season.
My own personal view is that there has been a noted gap developing between City, Pool (and to a lesser extent Chelsea) and the rest of the league making it easier to select a captain. Many have yet to have a captain fail when choosing between Mo Hazard or Kun.
I also have no fear of playing one of Alonso/Robertson/Mendy against the rest of the so
called “big six” so no need for transfers when fixtures turn. Those three are literally set and forget against anyone.
Add Ederson then you have 7 players in a template that has made fantasy football so much easier this season.
Of course Kane exploding or Mourinho finding his bus could mix up the template again.
