Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the sixth instalment of the open-to-all free-to-enter Paddy Power Cup competition. Your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints and reigning champ sleepingmaster – in our hall of fame starts now. For full details, including the fantastic prizes on offer once more, read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager with highest rank in the overall standings will progress.

How do I enter?

As with the Members Paddy Power Cup, entry for the competition is simple, just follow this link and fill out the form as required. A confirmation email will be sent shortly after you’ve submitted your details to acknowledge your entry has been received. Just like the FPL, multiple entries to the Cup are not permitted. Please ensure that you enter your FPL Team Id details correctly, any entries added incorrectly will not be entered into the qualifying round.

This cup is open to Members and Non-Members alike.

When does it start?

All entries received before the Gameweek 29 deadline will be entered into the qualifying round. We will then have 512 qualifiers for the first round – those 507 managers with the top scores in gameweek 29 (plus our five previous winners) will progress to the first round proper, which will be played in gameweek 30. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published around 24 hours after gameweek 29 has been completed and the draw for the first round will then follow.

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Although entry is open to all, entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

If you’re going to bet with Paddy Power, always gamble responsibly.

Could someone offer their advise on the following:

I am playing my third (half season) league with work, where we insist on playing Head to Head.

For the first two leagues I came 1st on overall points but 2nd and 6th in the league, and even though again I have the most points in this third league I have already lost 3 out of 7. It seems either I’m just unlucky or I’m playing my tactics all wrong.

Since august I’ve played a 3-4-3 formation, but I’m considering moving to 4-3-3.
Logically, it would be best to go with the most strikers possible, then midfielders, then defenders as the overall points are higher for the former. But recently I’ve noticed, even with the generic midfield of Silva, Bale, Sessegnon and Dempsey for 10 weeks, I don’t seem to do well. I’ve noticed that instead of all 4 consistently scoring points, it just seems like 1 of them scores big and the rest score low, or sometimes 2 points each. Would I be right in saying that defenders are more consistent? as a clean sheet is easier than a goal from one person.

So Roonpig doubt making me wonder whether I should transfer him in. Would be a 4 pt to take Suarez out for him. Worth it?
