Alonso & Robbo - the 6th & 7th highest scoreing players in the game at just 6.5 & 6.0 mill original price ... surely they are ‘lock & load’ season keepers with the added security of their great stats too ? Why would anyone sell them ?

Alonso has gone ten games without attacking returns. I was reluctant but sold the other week.

Have been for several but even if he does I don't think he'll go on enough of a run of returns to justify his price. Having watched plenty of Chelsea games he does seem to be holding on runs into tge box IMO.

The article above - ‘630 touches in the final third for Marcos Alonso (£6.8m) this season, 99 more than any other FPL defender. The Spaniard has been sold by more than 70,000 managers this week (at the time of writing) ahead of a good fixture for Chelsea: Newcastle at Stamford Bridge. Despite having eight attacking returns this season (one goal, seven assists), his last one came in Gameweek 11 – which explains why owners are losing faith. The Magpies have scored just one goal in their last four matches, which bodes well for Alonso’s clean sheet potential in Gameweek 22.’

      Better value elsewhere

Taa > Them both in terms of value

Planning to get rid of Alonso next week for TAA. Better defensive team and good attacking potential. Using the cash to upgrade further up the pitch. Have Robbo too and he's going nowhere

It's not so much Alonso's points though, is it?

It's the cost of him compared to the rest of your team.

When you want big hitting mids and attackers then defence is usually the obvious area to cut back in.

The fact that you'd rarely if ever captain him makes it easier to sacrifice him if you want to fund upgrades elsewhere.

I've had Alonso but got rid ages ago.

I've had Robertson since day 1 but am reluctant to ship him, though, so make of that what you will.

That doesn’t make sense - your argument for both players should be the same ?

The big issue is that we end up benching Dinge, AWB, Doherty etc points (I bet not many in here have had all their points) but with Robbo & Alonso we start every time, always get their points and even get the odd clean sheet or haul against the liked of City ... this hidden benefit is rarely considered

As others have said, Liverpool has the better defence, though, and Robertson has been getting a few assists lately whereas Alonso hasn't delivered attacking returns for ages.

For me it was a case that I could get Doherty or Digne for £2m less at the time and be happy playing them every week.

I used the 2m to get Hazard back, so depending on your point of view that was either money well spent or wasted.

If you actually play Doherty and Digne every week without fail and get their points, don’t bench them against top six teams, don’t use transfers selling them after a few blanks etc., then I totally agree with you 🙂

The thing is you say Liverpool have the better defence, Robbo is getting a few assists, no attacking returns from Alonso in 10 games etc ... but Alonso still has more points than Robbo ?

Liverpool I think only have one more clean sheet than Chelsea, so in FPL terms is their defence that much better ?

I'll stick my neck out and say that -if you got at orginal price (big caveat I know)- the ultimate season-keeper defence is:

      Alonso Robbo TAA Doherty AWB

TAA hasn’t started in nearly 25% of the games, but the rest I agree.

I bought Alonso for his attacking returns which aren’t happening so downgraded him to Rudiger (should’ve gone side-show Bob) & downgraded Robertson to TAA to fund the purchase of Hazard (wasn’t as happy at doing this move)
