Antonio Valencia looks irresistible right now. While you read this, at the current rate of acquisition, a dozen or so Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers will have snapped him up for their squads. By the time you stop reading this, you may well join them.

Is it unthinkable to ignore Valenciaā€™s appeal? Certainly there are alternatives for a midfield slot in our squads ā€“ notably Arsenalā€™s Theo Walcott, a player who has grown in stature this season, not least in the recent run of results that has seen the Gunners push Spurs aside in the race for third.

Using the data available, including our own ICT Index and Optaā€™s statistics, we examine Valencia and Walcottā€™s credentials, weighing up the value of the United man whilst discussing a scenario where the ā€œunthinkableā€ could apply…

    Ok folks 2 things

    1) My current sub order is Dempsey, Santon, Taiwo. Right order?

    2) Taiwo and Young to Verm and Valencia next week for 4 pointer, or should I just get Verm and not take the hit? If I don't take it, I may as well not bother until GW33/34

        Santon either starts and it then taken off after 45 mins or is on the bench and comes on, all in all he is getting 1pt lately.

        Dempsey even if he doesn't score or assist will at least get 2pt.

    For me, the question is whether to go with five strong mid (in which case I upgrade McClean to Walcott) and a lower-priced striker (i.e. Graham) or do I stick with McClean and hand the third striker spot to someone like Adebayor (once healthy)?

      I'm captaining Rooney, but there's nothing in it there. After last week I'd be cautious over benching Caulker, but short of benching Bale I'm not sure how you fit him in.

        I have been burned with Caulker on the bench the previous 2 so know exactly where you are coming from. Benching Bale or McClean is the only way in for him though, and either have good prospects for points.

      Walters last did something useful on December 31st, 2011.

      I'm talking last year.

      Etherington has some form, but missed a lot of pitch time recenlty.

      having walters is both inexplicable and inexcusable. hopeless footballer. remember the last time he had very appealing fixtures? if not, that's because he did nothing, as was expected. you can only have 5 mids. for the love of all that's holy, don't include walters as one. practically every other mid in the game is a better shout. Hell, i'd rather have shaun derry.

      I can't see Valencia losing the right wing spot unless he gets injured or loses form to be honest. When fit and playing he has been by far and away the most consistent and productive of all 3 of them by a mile this season. Add to that his workrate for the team being so much higher than either Young or Nani and the fact that Fergie loves him, I think it's fairly safe to say he is the least likely to be rotated from here on in.

        totally agree, whenever Young is playing when Valencia is on the field, he doesnt do muc. It´s only when Valencia is not there... almost everyone in the united team look to Valencia and Rooney for passes when they are there... I´ve watched every game this season... go ahead an look at the numbers šŸ˜‰

      Anyone else fancying pairing up Rooney with Chicharito for the run in? I have two transfers next week as sitting tight this week. Would have to sell Silva and Pog only prob is no decent mids for 6.7m to replace Silva as already have Sinclair and Sess and can't get Siggy as have Naylor and Vorm. Hmmm.         So I want to bring in Valencia...but I don't want to lose my midfield of Demps, Bale, Silva...They all have a decent amount of point potential, but will Valencia consistently outscore the likes of Silva from here on out?
