Forging close friendships with other Fantasy managers has been instrumental in Sean Tobin’s success and enjoyment of both Fantasy Premier League and Sky Fantasy Football over the years.

In our latest Meet the Manager interview we catch up with Sean at a crucial time in his Fantasy career, after reaching the summit of our Hall of Fame and currently in a career-high 18thspot in FPL and 14thin Sky.

With five top 5,000 finishes in FPL and reaching the top 50 in Sky in 2017/18, this season is no mere fluke.

However, modest Sean is still convinced he’s simply got lucky over the years.

During our 30-minute chat, Sean reveals how the counsel of fellow Fantasy managers that he has known for years has been pivotal to his strong finishes each year.

He also explains how his faith in a 3-4-3 formation and reticence to back a five-man midfield has helped drive this success.

Correcting mistakes swiftly has also been a strong ethos to his Fantasy management and it is no coincidence that his only poor FPL campaign was due to being too slow to react to emerging player trends.

The chat with Sean is available to view on Youtube here and in the embedded video below.

Thoughts on this -4 and Bench Boosting?

    hamer + pereira > ederson + digne

    Team would be as below

    ederson - fab
robertson - doherty - awb - bednarek- digne
    salah - sane - sterling - pogba - siggy
    rashford - jiminez - ings

A little risky, but you've got the fixtures.

Unfortunately all it takes is for Everton to concede (likely on current form), or AWB/Bednarek to concede for it not to pay off as much as it could.

Ings, Bednarek and AWB are your realistic bench then but are playing each other. One of Ings or AWB likely to blank (if not both). Not too keen myself on BB but the moves them selves are okay.

Some may say there’s issues with my 5 defenders despite the great fixtures.

    Alonso
    TAA
    Doherty
    Digne
    AWB

Could be some cameos, yet all could start.

Yeah Doherty is worrying. Because why would Nuno bench Vinagre in the Cup if he didnt want to start him in the league?

If he startq Vinagre I thi k he starts Jonny on the right

If Doherty benched, a cameo is likely and thats the most annoying thing

The only positive I can take is maybe it’s to get his match fitness back up ?

I mean wasn’t Douglas the RB last year so not like the managers scared of replacing players .. however.. so much value tied up and benching seems madness.

            1. Pieterke30
              • 9 Years
              7 years, 16 days ago

              Yeah.

But my point is - why bench Vinagre?? If he wants Doh to build his fitness back and start him, he could have started Vinagre and I wouldnt be worried. Now I wouldnt be surprised to see Vinagre and Jonny start vs WHM.

What would you do with that lot?

    Patricio
    Doherty TAA* Robertson Digne
    Salah(C) Pogba Redmond Sané
    Auba Rash

    Guaita Arnautovic Richarlison AWB

    A. Save FT
    B. Richarlison -> Jota and start him over TAA who shouldnt start (was the plan when I thought Arnie would leave to China)
    C. Rich and Arnie to Son and Niasse for -4. And start Son instead of TAA.

If A, bench order seems right?

I wouldn't want to keep both Salah and Richa both in the same team at the moment. Both teams going through not so motivating times. May be transfer one of them out.l for Sane or Fanderson respectively.

Where do you get your gear from?

        Salah out for Anderson?

The best player in the game and on current form the league perhaps, for someone who has blanked for the last month and just lost to AFC Wimbledon and has wolves away, liverpool and city coming up.

Yea take a hit and do that my advice, and spend the 5m left over on Kane n all

Why don’t people think son is going to start Wednesday?

Surely they won’t have any choice given injuries and he will have rest time given that the game is Wednesday.

I have alli so for me the obvious choice is son

He has said he is tired. Probably hasn't had a training session with the team either yet given they are playing today. Would make sense to rest him on Wednesday and have him fully fit for the weekend and future games.

Maybe some have doubts about playing time after playing yesterday (personally feel he slots straight back in) and others may have concerns about Wolves lack of CS coupled with his lack of attacking returns ( which may be somewhat alleviated by his goal yesterday). There’s also Jota being considered as an fpl asset so maybe he’s making way of people already have Patrício and Jiminez

His returns are not brilliant. He is dining out on his early season form. He is still getting forward though.

Since I bought for 4.4, and will only get 4.8 on selling I may as well hold. The only alternative is Kola cube, who is even less reliable!

How you guys are planning to tackle GW27?

Utd and pool are playing each other at OT, dont think that will be a high scoring game..

Auba against Sou will be people aiming at, but Arnie got a great fixture along with Son.. Jota and Jimi plays bou makes them a good option to be included in starting eleven

Jota, Son, Felippe,Pogba,Salah, Arnie, Auba, Jiminez, Moura, Rashford

Spurs options for Poch that are not injured. N'Koudou is set to be loaned out to Besiktas.

    CM: Winks, Dier, Sissoko, Wanyama
    AM: Moura, Eriksen, Lamela
    FW: Son, Llorente

CM looks well stocked. Can see the other 5 rotating for the four attacking spots.

I would look at having some United assets - Pogba and Rashford are the ones I prefer.

Sane a good pick as well.

Downgrading Auba to Rashfors and upgrading your mid, considering playing 352, would be interesting in my opinion.

Not the strongest but Pat and Bamba play and Bamba is a solid pick.

Kamara is a non playing sub I know.

Many have cheap goalie and non playing gk

Hi, anyone here have Firmino? Is he a good option?
Already have Salah, Robbo and want to replace TAA.

I'd prefer TAA in the long run I think personally

I put him in for kane and did well for me in the one gw so far. Not a long term option though in my opinion, will swap him for aubameyang in gw 27

I got him last week for Kane, keeping him for now. Easy switch to Higuain if Chelsea form improves.

Meet the manager request. Marco Silva.

Ask him what the .... goes through his tactical brain when preparing for a GW?

Ask him “ Who’s on defensive set piece duties?”

Then keep him hostage until Everton agree to letting him go.

Should I take Alli out for Son this GW, or bring Eriksen for this GW and swap him to Son after?

    Cheers!

Wait til just before deadline to get as much news on Son as possible. I think Spurs need Son so would be surprised if he didn't play.
