FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

The third round of our latest FFS Cup took place in Blank Gameweek 31.

There were 128 Fantasy managers remaining in our tournament before Saturday’s deadline but only two were former FFS Cup winners.

One of those site users, donnellyc, bowed out after a narrow 35-34 loss to TwiggsJameson.

Our other former champion, 2EyedTurk, lives to fight another day after a 32-28 win over Homer21.

The highest-ranked team in the round-of-128, Deporhostia, exited the competition after being pipped 42-43 by space.

That means we have only one manager remaining who sits inside the top 1,000: HBCAMPBELL, who has an overall rank of 931 after Gameweek 31.

Rotation/s Alter Ego and G-Whizz both entered the top 10k this weekend and our two mods both progressed to the last 64 after comfortable victories.

There was one draw in the third round: rselfy123 squeaking past Dream_team_legend due to a superior overall rank.

Lal Toofan beat Taking the Mkhitaryan 39-32 and is now just ten places behind his Gameweek 31 opponent in the overall FPL rankings.

Vulken is the Fantasy manager with the lowest OR (1,723,241) who still remains in the competition.

The third round results were as follows:

Can’t understand how Son is in so few teams?

Surely we want players with the highest ceiling, arguably Son has one of the highest ceilings in the game.

Yes he plays pool, but they just conceded against Burnley and fulham, so what will be stopping Spurs from scoring?

Then, it’s his first game in the new stadium, spurs will want to put on a show in that London derby.

Think Spurs will score but whether it will be Son is the issue

He’s normally in on the points. When son hits form it is scary not to be an owner.

I see them playing against two stubborn team's.
      So not interested.

Palace won't go to New stadium to give a treat to Spurs fans. They thrive on away trips. Also spurs-palace never high scoring fixture.

Palace do thrive on away games, but if you look at their away results this year then actually it’s even more encouraging for spurs as they are quite high scoring away games. I think it will be a cracker of a game along the lines of 3:2.

Pool is always going to be difficult, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be goals.

We all know the damage son can do in terms of FPL points.....

Yeah we know. But I'm not feeling it this gw tbh.
          So no Spurs for me.
Will get kane in wc after gw 33

Son´s high ceilings also limited to bad defenses. Apart from Newcastle who has a fairly decent one, all his hauls are against weak defenses. Palace is not in that category.

The Liverpool game is the tough one though.

They should score against Palace at home but the Liv game may be tight, just one goal in it.

Kane may be the one and only Spurs Pick here.

I think he’s may well be a better option than Kane on value,..

But then again I can see why he’s not popular - palace concede on average 1.6 goals per game away from home, and Liverpool concede 0.6 goals per game at home

So Son is probably looking at 1 or 2 returns max unless something very out of the ordinary happens

I had him for most of the season but had to get rid because he looks badly out of sorts. I watched the last few gsmes and he looks knackered.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you that you could loom at it as the odds are against him.

But it’s a DGW, they are fun and imagine Son being a differential (to a certain extent) in a DGW?

Has to be worth the risk.

Replace Son with Salah and note the uncanny resemblance.

        Form is temporary.......

Players all dip in and out of form.

Imagine catching him as he hits form again on a DGW.

He's knackered plus is on international duty just before gw32 with lots of travelling on top.Can see him starting from the bench in at least one of the fixtures in 32.

Can’t see son benched vs pool can you?
Also can’t see son benched in spurs first game in their new stadium, he deserves a start in that memorable game. They then have a 7 day break until their next fixture.

    10. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 7 Years
      5 years, 1 month ago

yep he has high ceiling, perhaps, but the set up of fixtures does not appeal at all. Palace always keeps it tight vs Spurs, 1-0 in all 4 last games between them. Liverpool away is the most difficult to get FPL points in. Liverpool far better home than away and that Burnley result was a bit freaky. Liverpools home record vs top 6 teams speaks for it self? 0-0, 0-0 and 5-1. 5 away games and conceded 6 against top 6 teams. Liverpool also outplayed Spurs away and the result 2-1 was flattering for Spurs as that should have ended 5-0.

Think Pep may start him for at least one game.

He probably will start but won't see out full 90. With City wanting to win I think Aguero and Sterling will start both and Sane coming on in the 2nd half

‘May start him for at least 1 game’ doesn’t sound like an enticing pick!

Aguero Sterling and a defender/Ederson are easily better picks

If you haven't played your Free Hit chip yet, and won't use it this week, when will you? Is 33 the magic number? Has Deulofail's community article* convinced you to wait till week 38? How have you resisted the lure of a fresh, new XV thus far, and why?

For me, it's strongly this week. My team looks awful without it!

I think there's an argument to be made for next week for some teams, and WC this week FH next could work for those who aren't already set up for GW33.

Very interested to hear about people who are planning for something other than 32 or 33!

The WC this week and FH next is what I’m going with (BB 35).

I need to fix the team this week, and this way allows me to stock up on Brighton (leaving most of them on my bench) and get the players I want for both doubles without the blank affecting it. Not ideal to be playing bench boost when there’s going to be so much rotation, but not left with many other options in my view now.

      No way out for me.
Team ready for 31/33 (at least on paper 😀 ). So no city/United player's were in the team.
      So played the FH.

    3. Ruth_NZ

I will wait till the final fixtures are out now - we essentially already know them but even something as minor as when the extra Brighton/Cardiff game is scheduled can make a small difference.

I have the FH available and there's no doubt my GW32 team would benefit but I am really inclined to play the TC in GW32 if at all possible. GW32 simply has by far the most outstanding options for that purpose. At the same time, I really don't like my GW33 team, even though I could field 11. So tearing up my current team with a couple of hits, TC in 32 and FH33 might be an option.

Another would be to underplay 32, concentrate on the key players (Hazard, Aguero, Sterling) and be able to ride 33 as well. That would make FH34/WC35 (or the reverse) a possibility. I anticipate big issues in GW34 especially and also quite likely in GW35. People that intend to WC34/BB35 could well run into significant problems with players not starting (or starting twice) when wanted.

A final option would be WC32 FH33 but I like that least at the moment because it probably means TC Jota in GW35. So, in summary I have no clue and will doubtless spend hours looking at it before the next deadline. Fortunately there is no rush. 🙂

Incidentally, if anyone thinks I am inventing things about GW34/35 they should perhaps look at and consider the effects of the CL/EL schedule.

FH32 WC34 may look template but to me it's the best way to get 3 Man City and 2-3 United in and out of my side, the City players are a must even for one easy fixture let alone two.

My 33 team is not ideal but may take a hit if required.

I will either FH or WC this week, if WC32 it will be FH33, if FH32 it will probably be WC34 or WC35.

I have my BB but not sure when to play it, and it could be an interesting tool to avoid the 1 point cameos from CK players that block bench points in 37 & 38

Undecided really, but will wait for the fixtures to be formally announced (why not announced yet if it is so clear cut 😉 )

WC in 32 and FH in 33 would make Murray (TC) in 34 available... but is it worth having a gap of 2 extra GWs between WC and BB, just for the sake of having a 35-year-old Brighton player as triple captain?

      1. Forza
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Murray has played a total of 231 minutes in some of his fixtures against Newcastle, Huddersfield, Palace, Burnley, Bournemouth, Everton, and Huddersfield... that's 33 minutes per match against defences that are comparable with his opponents in 34. He's also scored 1 goal in his last 397 minutes.

Duffy is slightly tempting, but Hazard (TC) in 33 or Liverpool (TC) in 36 have huge potential. FH in 32, WC in 34 it is.

If, and it's a bi IF, the idea is to get as many fixtures as possible, then wc32-fh33-bb34-TC35 is probably the way to go.
      32: 24
      33:12
      34: 19

injury...but he recovered faster than expected. Initial thoughts were he would not be back until after the IB, but he is already fully fit again it seems

Also if you can afford I’d do Ederson for Kepa so you spread the c/s risk
