David Silva is threatening to become the Fantasy season’s forgotten man.

The numbers don’t lie. A single assist in the Etihad victory over Blackburn represents his solitary Fantasy return in the last eight Gameweeks. Silva has scored just one goal in his last 18 league appearances, picked up five Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in his last 13 starts. Talk of a niggling ankle injury is cause for concern – Roberto Mancini’s decision to withdraw him in City’s last two outings have merely compounded the growing fears.

Subsequently, there’s been an inevitable loss of confidence amongst Fantasy managers. Silva’s ownership has slipped with significant net transfer deficits over the last three Gameweeks, eight deficits in the last 13 Gameweeks. His FPL value has dropped from a peak of 10.6, back down to 10.0, as Fantasy managers give up on Silva in their droves.

While such a trend looks fully justified, can we really write Silva off as a spent force?

In this latest article for Members, we analyse our own ICT Index scores and Opta’s performance data to assess what’s being going wrong with Silva and decipher whether an upturn in fortunes could yet be on the cards.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

          It was your long term plan, though I think it would have been better if you played earlier as your wc will effectively give you a huge boost for only that one week (though it could be a massive boost). Very very different wc implementation though. Call it the differential wc approach.

            But wildcards have never worked for me, pratik. Done more harm than good. So i was hoping it could be used as a gamble in the last 3-4 weeks or so.

        Only if other teams update their fixture list soon. If they follow suit, the fixture list will surely determine the transfers.
        This is not exactly good news, I am hoping atleast Tottenham reschedule for that week itself. Else there is no way i will have 11 players playing that week.

      I would do Ba -> Jelavic for GW31, then wildcard next week with plenty of cash to replace:

      Ba -> Ade?
      Dempsey -> Walcott
      Skrtel -> Verm/Baines?
      Shotton -> Kaboul/Wilkinson
      Simpson (you have Krul) -> see above

    Liverpool have announced new dates for their Barclays Premier League games against Fulham and Chelsea.

    The Reds' clash with Fulham - originally scheduled for FA Cup semi-final weekend - will now take place at Anfield on Tuesday May 1, 2012. It will kick off at 7.45pm.

    The game against Chelsea has been switched to Saturday May 5 with a 12.45pm kick-off, but this fixture will be rearranged in the event that either club progresses to the FA Cup final.

          I'm pretty confident Tottenham will have a DGW since Bolton will want to finish their Villa-Bol game first in gw34 and that's a win-win for both.

          Hey, 2 FTs is great. Just roll one over in case we don't hear about the others by tomorrow.

            Was going to lose some of my LIV players - prob best to keep now eh. Maybe i'll just do Shotton -> Cahill if the others aren't confirmed by the deadline... whatcha reckon? (team linked)

              I wouldn't get Cahill. I'd wait until the deadline before any transfers - but my #1 priority would be to get a playing 11 for gw34 (assume the worst case in which all 8 teams don't play).

              I'd get 3 utd, 3 ars, 3 swa and fill up with sunderland/others.

    First prority is to have 11 for GW 34:
    Currently have only 8: 3 ManU, 2 Ars, 2 Swa, 1 Wba
    Will bring in 3: 1 Eve (Distin), 1 Swa (Sig) and someone else.

    Che and Spurs players will be my priority for the DW.
    Only 2 games left after the DW.

            Villa-Bolton is confirmed for gw35, 24th april. No way it could happen in gw34 or 36. So Bolton will be squeezed for two consecutive weeks.

    Not another unfruitful Liverpool DGW. Lol

    As things stand should have two transfers for GW34 with nine currently on the pitch barring injuries. Have no 'pool or Everton players though. We'll worry about that in GW35! 🙂

    I'm not a member so can't see the content of the member articles but was wondering if it's worth the spend for next year? To be honest there seems to be plenty of free information available so I'm not sure how much it would be worth paying any extra? Cheers for any opinions.

    CL Group F: Matchday 6 Preview

    Five weeks ago when the groups were drawn, my personal favorite was Group F. Why, you ask? This wasn't due to FPL-related reasons but I thought this group represented the personalities you get to see in FFS to a great extent. On one hand, you had the omni-present, ever-helpful, SouthPark-frenzy, a bundle of talent in Fratboy and the other hand, you had the unknowingly hilarious sensation of FFS, mighty Rukawa. Whilst they were so different, they were both box-office hits on FFS in their own ways, both jolly good dudes and both avid Manchester United fans. Then this group had the serious but well-informed corporate boss in Heco87, who despite his busy corporate life used to spend time on FFS giving info and excellent advice on Newcastle's Fantasy assets. Last but hardly the least, they had Canadian Football, who was clearly following the Premier League more for the love of the Fantasy game. Often seen in the deadzone hours, I used to savor his occasional long posts since every word had the quality that only a neutral could bring to the fore.

    Moving onto the serious stuff, we have Rukawa who (against all odds) is a favorite to qualify for the knock-outs. Heco87's Dortmund have already crashed out of Europe. So this group is going to be a three-horse race, as we enter the final Matchday.

    For the record, here's how the group will be decided:
    1) Higher the points, higher the position.
    2) If 2 teams are tied on the same points, then it goes down to h2h record (win/loss)
    3) If the h2h record is the same, then it goes to Overall GD. If its still tied, then we go to away points scored in the matches between the tied teams.
    4) When 3 or more teams are tied on the same points, the Overall GD is taken into consideration.
    5) The group winner & runners-up qualify for the knock-outs and the 3rd spot qualifies for Round 2 of the Europa League.

    Let's take a look at the qualification criteria for Group F:

    Olympiakos - Clearly a favorite to qualify for the knock-outs, they will only fail to qualify if they lose to Arsenal by a huge margin (32 points or more) AND Marseille defeats Dortmund. This worst case scenario still sees them secure a Europa spot. A home win/draw will see them qualify as a group winner. As long as they don't lose by 32 points or more, they should still top the group.

    Marseille - Even a marginal away win against Dortmund secures a qualification for Marseille in the knock-outs. This is because even if Arsenal defeats Olympiakos by a 32 points margin, Arsenal and Olympiakos will both be on GD of +13, just below Marseille's existing GD. A loss for Marseille and they will have to hope that Arsenal lose to Olympiakos to have any chance for qualification. Such a scenario would secure Marseille a Europa spot.

    Arsenal - They have no choice but to win their fixture against Olympiakos. If they win by more than a 32 points margin, Arsenal should qualify irrespective of the other game's result. If they win by less than a 32 points margin, their only chance will be if Marseille draw or lose against Dortmund. Needless to say, if they lose, they will secure the Europa spot.

    Dortmund - Having been eliminated from Europe and been the only manager without a win in the tourney, this could be a good chance for the German boys to gain some consolation and pride for their home crowd.

    Predictions:
    Dortmund vs Marseille - Despite Dortmund having an 8-point headstart over Marseille, Marseille seems to have a team that could produce the goods this week. The key battle for me is Suarez/Kaboul vs Cisse/Vermaelen. Verdict - A narrow away win that sees Marseille into the knock-outs.

    Olympiakos vs Arsenal - Olympiakos seems to have a well set-up side for this week, even without using their FT. The key clash could be Dempsey/Suarez vs Walcott/Ba. You'd think Arsenal will need to pull off a stunning captain's pick (Walcott/Rooney?) to stay in the race. Verdict - A narrow home win that sees Olympiakos top the group.

    Cometh the end, who will be privileged to become Rukie's Angel? Or will Rukie himself bow out of the Champions League? Let's enjoy the show, shall we?

          It's too early to say but the quarter final & semi final (1st leg each) held in gw34 and gw36 will be absolutely kick ass for you ,ENR because of the dgw and the wc. I really wouldn't want to face you (that is if either of us qualify to the next stage itself).

    Currently going between Huth and Cahill in for Enrique. Concerned by Stoke having little to play for and by Cahill potentially not being a guaranteed starter; any thoughts?

      I think you've summed it up pretty well, Huth's probably the better pick IMO as he's guaranteed starts and his offensive threat requires no introduction, I've gone for Baines for Enrique - but if I didn't have as much cash flying around I'd consider Huth. Have you considered Kaboul?

        I've not thought about the attacking potential too much as Cahill obviously has that as well.

        Kaboul is an interesting one, will have to think about him. Not sure I'm as sold on Spurs CS potential in their coming matches though.

    Such precision is required now in the transfers to get a full 11 for GW, a decent set of doubleweekers for GW36 and still have a team with nice fixtures for GW37 and GW38, that one injury or red card could blow it all to smithereens!
