Captains

Man City options to headline Gameweek 37 captaincy

Manchester City and Chelsea are likely to be the teams at the forefront of the Gameweek 37 captaincy debate.

Both teams have appealing home fixtures this weekend, with Leicester City coming to the Etihad Stadium and Watford visiting Stamford Bridge.

Sergio Aguero (£11.9m) has more goals at home than any other forward this season, while the Foxes have not kept a clean sheet on the road since Gameweek 21 – before Brendan Rodgers took charge from Claude Puel.

The fact that the Argentinian found the net for the first time since Gameweek 32 on Sunday afternoon, he will certainly be in the minds of our voters.

The latest captain poll is now open and users can cast their choices either embedded in the article below or in the sidebar of our website.

Raheem Sterling (£11.6m) is likely to be another go-to option, despite registering just an assist in his last three Premier League outings.

He still has a 66.9% ownership among the top 10,000 managers, just 6% shy of Aguero.

A potential differential for Gameweek 37 could be Eden Hazard (£10.9m), and it will be interesting to see how much traction his cause becomes in the next few days.

The meeting with Watford on Sunday afternoon could conceivably be the Belgian’s last in a Chelsea shirt at Stamford Bridge, which might bring the best out of him.

However, Hazard has home form to back that sentiment up, with 47 points in his last four in front of his own fans.

That averages out at 11.75 points per game in that time, while Watford are without a clean sheet on the road since Gameweek 25.

Despite scoring five times on Huddersfield at Anfield on Friday, it is possible that a trip to Newcastle might put some managers off Liverpool options for Gameweek 37.

However, the Magpies have just one clean sheet at home since Gameweek 28, and with Premier League safety now secured the stakes are not quite as high for Rafa Benitez’s side.

Sadio Mané‘s (£10.1m) goal threat has largely been limited to Anfield matches this season, but Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) has more away goals than any other midfielder this season.

Manchester United’s visit to Huddersfield could present an opportunity for some differential captains.

The Terriers have now conceded 15 goals in their last four matches, at an average of 3.75 per game.

They are the perfect opponents for the Red Devils to face as they hope to book a finishing place in the division’s top four and claim Champions League football.

Paul Pogba (£8.5m) and Romelu Lukaku (£10.7m) will probably the ones that are looked at, although Marcus Rashford (£7.3m) is sure to be considered if he is passed fit.

Meanwhile, the form player in the league is Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) with the same number of goals in eight matches under Brendan Rodgers than in the 28 before that.

Such incredible form could see him act as a differential captain once again, even if Leicester travel to face Manchester City in Gameweek 37.

Raúl Jiménez (£6.9m) might also be looked at with Fulham coming to Molineux although the Cottagers have now recorded three clean sheets in a row.

    Best moves here?

    2FTs and 0,1m

    Lloris
    Robbo, Laporte, Valery
    Salah, Sterling, Son, Jota
    Kun, Jimenez, Llorente

    Foster, JWP, Duffy, Yoshi

Llorente to Long not possible as I already have 3 SOU so would need to shift one of them with the other FT.

I have Llorente think he will start 37.

Otherwise, Llorente > Quaner and play JWP.

Free up cash and 2FT for 38.

I don’t. Leicester have a good set up to play against City. Counter attacking football with pace that will trouble City’s centre backs.

I think City will win the game but Leicester will score. I’d be surprised if Pep doesn’t drop Kompany to play Stones alongside Laporte to try and combat the pace of Leicester’s attack.

Haz has only started once in the Europa league so far, at this stage it's probably easier for Chelski to qualify for next years CL by winning their last two league games rather than by winning the Europa league.

I'm thinking about this. Newcastle away after a tough champions League game won't be high scoring. If Hazard doesn't play 90 in Europa then I think it's worth a punt esp as I'm chasing in my ml.

I'm severely tempted. Spurs look distracted by the CL and if they do get 3rd/4th they will seemingly limp over the line. I have the exact money for Son to Hazard, Eriksen is an option too but he seems more involved at the moment. Maybe fatigue is catching up with Son after numerous mid-season trips round the world.

If Hazard does come in then I will definitely captain him. I have Aguero but he will be the most captained player this week. Leicester seem much improved under Brendon and it could be a cagey affair, 1-0's are enough for City to close it out and I think it could be low scoring.

They have options available in that RB position with Gomez back. Gomez getting minutes now, may get a start soon. Lovren/Matip there to cover the CB position.

Jota should really be on that captain poll. He's my captain anyway.

Bench order correct? Feels wrong benching a premium mid:

    Ryan
    TAA doherty digne
    Sterling mane son jota
    Jimenez kun wilson
    Foster eriksen duffy yoshida

    Benched Jota last gw

    Eriksen to Pogba for free.
Or to Mane, with Llorente to a non playing forward, for -4.
    Or to someone else?

Leading ML by 30. Rival has similar team with Salah but no Mane, and not sure what he’ll do (guessing he’ll transfer out Son).

Currently 5th in my ML with 28 points between me and 1st, so positions are up for grabs... still have my TC too...

    Lloris
    Doherty Laporte Matip Yoshida
    Son Sterling Mane
    Aguero Jimenez Vardy

    Foster Deulofeu Valery Romeu

    1FT 0.1ITB

    1. Vardy >> Zaha / Rashford / Wilson
    2. Deulofeu >> Babel / McArthur
    3. Something Else?

    Thanks

Quick first glance at GW38. Luckily I'm not too bad, probs do something like Lucas > Redmond this week and then Jota, Jimenez to Delu, Zaha for final. 5 points in my ML so need to nail transfers

Deulofeu could be a great punt but also could be rested/protected with the cup final in mind.

Guys, I have 1 FT and a decision to be made. I can sub off Duffy for VVD/Robertson or Gray for Wilson. Hard choice for me because idk if Liverpool will keep cleans with their program in the CL. What do you think?

How many differentials do I need to make up a 17 point deficit on a rival who also has TC still to play:

    I have: Salah, Pogba, Hazard
    They have: Eriksen, Son, Aguero

Your TC differential (if you get right) should make the points
