How does Tielemans affect and compare to Leicester’s other FPL assets?

Leicester City’s permanent capture of Youri Tielemans (£6.5m) adds to the Foxes’ attractive options in Fantasy Premier League next season.

The Belgian midfielder, signed for a reported £40m from Monaco, impressed in a brief loan spell towards the end of 2018/19 and was a successful differential pick for those FPL bosses who backed him.

The central midfielder scored three goals and registered a further five assists in just 13 starts, averaging 4.8 FPL points per game – more than any of Leicester’s other Fantasy assets apart from Jamie Vardy (£9.0m).

You can read more about Tielemans’ history in our Scout Report.

The Foxes’ opening eight fixtures are a mixed bag, with Brendan Rodgers’ side facing five of last season’s top seven in the first two months of the campaign.

There are also matches against Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Newcastle United in that time, however.

For those wishing to back a Leicester asset from the off, there is a bit of a selection headache.

Ayoze Perez‘s (£6.5m) case for inclusion was heard in a Members’ article last week but in Tielemans and James Maddison (£7.0m) we also have two FPL midfielders who provided us with decent value for money in 2018/19.

In Vardy, we also have a premium forward who scored more goals than any other Premier League player in the final ten Gameweeks of last season.

This latest article will scrutinise the numbers behind Tielemans’ appearances for Leicester so far.

Had KDB in the side for a while - love the idea of a City double in attack - but dropping him to Maddison enabled Cathcart -> TAA.

That’s gotta be worth it, right?

Just did my first draft in a week without KDB and probably happier without him just to get more balance. Might need some time to find his real form again, at least that's what I am hoping now.

So, how about this lot guys?

Just go 5atb . Waiting if some gems to emerged then change it with two moves.

Already plan Vardy and Tielemans to come for Wilson and Fraser.

    Ryan

    Taa Robertson Laporte Digne Coleman

    Salah, Sterling, Frase

    Wilson, Murray

Sub: Button, Wickham, Dedoncker, Oriol Romeu.

I’d have Ings ahead of Murray personally.

Neat gamble on the double ups on Bournemouth and Everton. Neither especially convince me but they could be gold. I’m just not sure fixture runs are compelling for midranked sides and particularly at this time of year. Very easy to get pushed into a WC imo

I remember how someone said the samae when I want to double up Bou players at the early beginning last season.

Then, we saw Fraser and Wilson is something else.

I pick them because they show their qualities. More than that, the fixtures is good.

What else do u expect from 100 millions? Double attacker from City like overrated KDB and Bernado Silva? They are pricey. KDB cheaper than last season but not have a good value.

The best pick is of course mid table teams. I choose Everton and Bou, the reliable and proven in PL. Not double Aston Villa or Sheffield United.

Why should wildcard when I can make two moves? I know u said that because delusional tactic of flexible formation. The fact is, formation can be adjust, the gems can be buy with only two transfers in 1 week. Save the early transfer, be patient. Do two transfers next week.

If KDB stay fit he likely gets 200+ points, that's decent value to me.

You are right in term he can archieve 200+ points but thats a big if with :

            1. he just comeback from injury. Can get another injury if Pep doesnt monitor his minutes.

            2. As a good couch, I believe KDB minutes will be managed carefully. It will effect his fantasy points.

            3. Pep even have another season from Dilva (his performance still good) and increasing performance from Bilva. Have Foden too. A lot coverage for KDB. A good squad depth.

            4. Well, we know Pep always rotate his players. Maybe he will do the same for KDB after his injury record.

KDB's ppm before last season around 5.5-5.7. I can say many players include defenders can archieve that now with lower price.

            TAA 7.0 in price
            and have 6.4 ppm

            Robbo 5.9
            Mendy 5.9
            Zinc around that too
            VVD 5.5
            Wilson 5.6

Even Fraser at 4.8 ppm can have better value than KDB.

The auto selection of Sterling around here seems a bit odd to me.

    1. Andy_Social
      • 11 Years
      4 years, 8 months ago

Depends. If you've got Salah and Sterling, you really can't afford a 10m+ striker; hence Vardy is the next best thing.

    2. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus

Depends on definition of essential - by the time GW38 rolls around You could easily go back & pick a team to finish OR #1 that wouldn’t have him in it

But his record since Puel was sacked suggests he’s been a man on a mission ever since

    3. pingissimus
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 8 months ago

      No

But he’s very tasty as the fixtures should suit him with defences not set up to smother. But the fixtures are still tough and Kane and the forgotten Auba could well outdo him

He could trigger a number of early WCs if he hits with lots of teams being unable to reach him with no premium spot.

He’s tricky as with all those mids he’ll be very hard to cover by getting in his regular assistant,

    Advice is much appreciated friends:

Really stuck with this whole Vardy dilemma like many others.

    Team a ( no Vardy)
    Ryan
    TAA Robbo Digne Chilwell
    Fraser Salah Sterling Siggy
    Deu king

    Team b (Vardy)
    TAA VVD Digne (4.5)
    Brooks Salah Sterling Siggy
    King Vardy

I cant help but feel A is the stronger team..

    Suggestions welcome.

      Prefer B myself.

Not sure what Chilwell adds. The Leicester defence doesn’t feel good with that fixture run. The only short term Leicester for me would be Vardy as he’s the one who thrives against top 6. Whichever way the midfield falls it’s really hard to pick one who’ll excel.

If you’re unsure about Vardy and prepared to go 4.5 at the back you could reshuffle a bit to get KdB ahead of Siggy.

I also find it difficult. But with so much value in 6-6.5 for forwards, I find it be a good bet to go with A to have more funds to spend other places in your team. And you could easily change Deulo to someone else if he doesn’t deliver.

    I have a back 6 of
    Lloris
    Alonso Laporte Digne TAA Robbo
It does cost me a big hitter but value in the backs is far superior.
Alonso is a wait and see and I am thinking I could get Rico at 4 mil and upgrade Wilson to Kane.
It looks a no brainer, especially looking at balance but I do believe outside of Salah who will be C every week, this is the 1st season to go 5 at the back.
The keeper is another story. Last 3 years 145,144, 143. Massive annual improvements. But this return is fine for 5.5

    Anyone else thinking the same.
