Last weekend it was my honour to host the annual Scoutcamp Quiz. An event attended by “the Great and the Good” (copyright Greyhead) of the FPL world.
The evening was structured into various sections. Teams were given a picture round, an anagrams round, and a ‘teammates’ round to get on with in their own time. There were also two activity rounds and the main quiz, comprising of ten rounds of five questions each.
Before starting, teams had to choose which round they thought they would do best in. This was their double points, or in FPL parlance – captain round! They did this without prior knowledge of the questions.
The whole event was a lot of fun and I thought some of you might like to have a go at the main quiz too. Below I’ve typed out all the questions except for the music round, and you can download the anagrams and teammates round here and here.
The first of the activity rounds involved pairs, one representing each team. I would whisper a number or player name to one person in each pair, they would then use their index finger to ‘draw’ that number or player name on their partner’s back. The first person to call out the correct number or player name scores a point.
The winners of this game were Sam and Lee from FPL Family who earned their team, Holly’s in Charge, a bonus 6 points. Az and Mat from Fat Morons came second and gained 3 points for their team.
The second activity round, the Coin Toss, involved every team member. Team A would line up facing Team B. Each team holds their neighbour’s hand under the table. Yes, the name of the game includes the word ‘toss’ and players have to hold each other’s hand under the table. Please stop sniggering (Peter Kouwenberg I’m looking at you!).
At one end of the table is a coin, at the other a small ball (a lemon or orange also works well). I would flip the coin, if it lands heads then the people at the coin end squeeze their teammate’s hand. The hand squeeze is then passed along the team until it reaches the person at the other end, who grabs the ball to score a point.
If the coin lands tails and the ball is picked up in error, the opposing team scores the point.
This game ultimately decided the quiz and in a nail-biting finish I Predict a Ryan held on to win, defeating Kane You Fix It in the final. Congratulations to David, Neale, Geoff, Tom from WGTA and Ash from @FPLHints.
Finally, it’s a hard quiz and teams were not allowed to use Google to search for answers! However I was selling clues for £10 each, all monies donated to this year’s chosen charity – The Stroke Association. We raised an extra £50.
If you would like to donate please do so here and if you would then like a clue please email me at topmarx.fpl@gmail.com
