Dugout Discussion

Barkley and Mount both start as Pulisic drops to the bench

The final fixture of Gameweek 1 takes place at 16:30 BST as Manchester United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford.

There weren’t too many shocks upon the release of the teamsheets but perhaps the headline news was that both Mason Mount (£6.0m) and Ross Barkley (£6.0m) – rather than one or the other – start together in Frank Lampard’s first Premier League starting XI as Chelsea manager.

Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) is the man to make way, with the USA international dropping to the bench.

Pedro (£7.0m) completes the trio of attacking midfielders lining up behind lone striker Tammy Abraham (£7.0m).

N’Golo Kante (£5.0m) is only fit enough for a place on the bench, while Willian (£7.0m) and Antonio Rudiger (£6.0m) miss out.

Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (both £5.5m) are handed their competitive United debuts but Daniel James (£6.0m) is only a substitute.

Andreas Pereira (£5.0m) instead gets the nod and will line up in ‘the hole’, with Jesse Lingard (£6.5m) on the right flank and Marcus Rashford (£8.5m) stationed on the opposite wing.

An ‘out of position’ Anthony Martial (£7.5m) is reportedly set to lead the line.

Budget FPL forward Mason Greenwood (£4.5m) is on the bench, meanwhile.

Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount, Barkley, Pedro, Abraham.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, McTominay, Pereira, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, Martial.

    They amount of people with 65+ pts talking about wildcards and hits is absurd. If you had the essentials going into GW1 and good team structure, don't react to the fact your OR is 1M. There are a bunch of players using TC, BB, and fielding 1 GW squads. Stay the course. You’ll be happy that you did.

      I guess it's the fact that to get someone like sterling in means moving funds around a lot. I keep looking at what my new team could look like, but holding off the knee jerk at least another week.

    How essential to have sterling? Wc to get him or -8? Or wait another week and get him for -4? Or get aguero for kane? Will aguero start next match?

    For all the people considering using the wildcard to get sterling in etc(I considered it straight after the 2pm games). Sterling now plays spurs and Bournemouth so realistically he's not going to get a hat-trick and potentially may not rack up points against both so it gives you two games to look at how he fairs against better opposition and make up your mind about him. Rashford and martial didn't play too well imo today, yes they got goals but Chelsea were very attacking and never covered the counter attack.....not every team will do that and then it's a question whether they will link up well and score in slower paced games. Take at least 2 game weeks to look at players more and get a real feel for how there going to perform. All in all its been a good gw1 so relax.

      Good advice that. I was pleased to have captained Sterling, but now I'm dreading not owning Salah against Southampton. You can't have everyone who hauls. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

          I also think sterling will not get the same results in the coming weeks, although he maybe on the scoreboard.
          I have Bernardo Silva and what a mistake - and with all the newbies, sterling is probably going to increase by +.2 🙁

            I feel your pain as a Bilva owner also. Now the burning question is will Pep restore him to the starting lineup for the Spurs game and if so why did he not start against Westham when he was in the team who faced Liverpool in the Charity Shield?

              i have been big on Bilva all throughout pre-season. I decided to take him out of my GW1 squad to free up funds and also to see how Pep will set up this year with KDB back. I think with KDB back Bilva may suffer as Pep may play someone like Mahrez to provide a sharper edge upfront (whereas Bilva is more controlling type player). The CS game confirmed that for me as Bilva was not as explosive and penetrating so I took a deep breath then and dropped him to free up funds.

      Agree spurs may give trouble, but aren't Bournemouth defence inspiring no confidence at the moment?

      I am not condoning it, especially as don't want his price to rise too high before I get him in.

    Take a -4 to do KDB --> Sterling before price rise?

    If so, 2 ways:

    Robertson --> 4.5 def
    or
    Auba --> Rashford

      Will you not be mad at yourself when KDB gets two assists and sterling gets blank - while auba and Robertson have a great one.

          True - but way I see it is you are banking on sterling outperforming two of KDB, Auba or Robertson, by more than 4, based off first week hattrick. Especially as spurs will likely not be as easy a game for them.

    anyone else where played Triple C chip and what was your reasoning and are you happy with the results?

    I played Triple C on Salah on the back of Norwich poor defence and Salah's on form performance in CS. Alas, the returns were just borderline ok.

    Last year I saved it for a double GW but because the games come so close together game minutes or performance was an issue and I think my triple C choice didn't haul last year. So decided to try something new this year haha
