FPL Question Time – Consult our panel ahead of Gameweek 3

It is a short but important week coming up for Fantasy Premier League managers.

There are some big decisions to be made ahead of Gameweek 3 as some prepare to spend their two free transfers, others consider the Wildcard and that’s before we even get on to the captaincy.

So we’ve put together another panel of fine FPL minds to help you with any dilemmas.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Simon March – Former FPL champion who won the title in 2014/15 and has provided excellent advice ever since.

Always Cheating – The USA’s number one FPL podcast duo comprising of Josh and Brandon.

Gregor – Long-time Fantasy Football Scout moderator.

Doosra – Fantasy Football Scout user with some rather popular custom tables.

I'd do Auba to Kane(C) and potentially Perez to Mount, but less sure on the latter.

King and Rico look like the only weaknesses, I'd give Perez the next two unless you want to downgrade now to a Mount/McGinn/Cellabos to afford Puki for King.

Most have a very strong core to their team, then you have to pick good differentials to kick on.

No, it appeared there was far more value in defence at first. Plus that sounds like a game week 2 team, not gw 1 .

    So Martial has convinced me.

Hows this looking? Not sure i'm happy on playing two Norwich players!

    Pope
    Digne, AWB, Dunk,
    KDB, Sterling, Martial, Mane, Cantel
    Pukki, Kane,

    (Greenwood, Kelly, Lundstram, Stekelenburg)

        Robbo TAA Digne Zinchenko
        Salah Sterling Fraser Perez
        Pukki Jota

        McGovern Dendoncker Greenwood Rico

            Yes, mate. 1.3M ITB.

            Considering:
            A) Fraser > Martial
            B) Fraser > KDB (-4)

The latter requires to downgrade someone because I'm 0.9M short. The options are: Digne (if not fit) or Perez I suppose.

No. You don’t have to keep it that way for long. One of your big money picks will either get injured or start to fall in value soon enough...and then you’ll rearrange the furniture.

it is quite possible, I'm just worried Poch goes maverick - he could play Lamela instead of Eriksen again too, Lamela didn't play great against City but no-one did really, good otherwise and great in preseason

As a Spurs fan, I don't think Son will start the game. Moura is 50/50, but I think he'll feature from the start. FWIW, I'll have him in my team and am holding. Even off the bench he could be good value against tired legs.

I think it's possible and they definitely should play both. Yes Lamela has scored and assisted, but otherwise I think he's lost the ball a lot and don't rate him over Lucas. Son on his own level. For the coming fixture I'd say it's still quite possible Son comes in from the bench, but after that:

      Ndombele Sissoko
      Lucas Eriksen Son
      Kane

Wouldn't mind a few opinions after a very mediocre start...

    Current team:

    Pope (Button)
    Montoya, TAA, Robertson, Kelly, KWP
    Salah, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Perez, Trossard
    King, Jimenez, Greenwood
    (.5 ITB, 1FT)

I'm looking to get KDB and Martial in but need at least a -8 to do it.

    Thinking of using the wildcard...

TAA, Robertson, Siggy, Perez and Jimenez out
VVD, Lundstram, Martial, KDB and Rashford in
    0.4ITB
Various drafts include City defenders instead of VVD.

The alternatives are hold for 1 more game, or take a -4 to lose a Pool defender and upgrade either Perez or Siggy to Martial/KDB + likely 4.5 defender.

    Any thoughts welcome.

    Cheers

Salah, Fraser, Wilson > Kane, Martial, KDB

    Worth a -4?

Presume that would leave you with no Liverpool attack? Despite struggling a little, they've still scored 6 in 2 games, with Arsenal, Burnley and Newcastle up next. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable going without.

Had an ok start this year 151 but have 2 FT banked now. Is it worth bringing in a heavyweight striker now or hold out for a bit?

    Ryan Button
    Laoporte WanB Robertson Dinge Lundstram
    KdB Sterling Salah Perez Dendoncker
    Greenwood King Jota

    RMWCT

    Adrian (4.5)
    Walker Digne AWB Lundstram/Kelly
    Sterling Mane KDB Son Martial
    Pukki (Wickham Greenwood)

Yeah not optimal to play Lundstram or Kelly every week but could be worth it. Can't decide whether Son or Martial should leave for Lanzini/Mount to fund a better defence, so I have them both and sacrifice the defence a bit. Thoughts?

I think the fact we have 3 playing 4.0m defenders is too good to ignore. With a bit of luck you could get the best out of them.

Which one is more urgent to have, KdB or Martial?

Got Sterling & Zinch, no-one from ManU.

no-one knows, personally think he's above Dann in the pecking order so won't be fully panicking until Sakho starts training properly

Dann playing LCB. Sakho LCB. He's safe from Sakho because of that. Not sure about Cahill. Or what's story with Tomkins who played RCB most of last season

Tomkins hasn't started training yet at all I believe, Sakho did but think he may have had a setback

Stick. Decent players there, and only 2 games gone.
I also hve Jota and Vardy, I'm giving them one more week, I'm confident think they will both get a good return with this weeks fixtures

What do you think about Mount, is he a regular starter now ? Looks good if he is, and on all set pieces.

I still have injured FAnderson, 90% thinking Mount is the replacement

I think a lot depends upon what’s gone on in that dressing room in the past. Lampard may well look on Mount as his man in preference to some iffy characters...no matter how good they are. We can’t know that but i’m leaning towards it in my minds eye.
