What has happened to Ryan Fraser this season?

It has not been a memorable start to the season for Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Fraser (£7.3m).

After registering a total of seven goals and 14 assists in 2018/19, the Scottish international has now gone three matches of the new campaign without a single attacking return.

Not surprisingly, Fraser has already dropped £0.2m in price as Fantasy managers look elsewhere for value in midfield.

However, is there a possibility that they may come crawling back when Bournemouth’s fixtures become a little more favourable.

Gameweek 3 pitted the Cherries against defending champions Manchester City, while this weekend takes them to face Leicester City.

After those two tough matches, Gameweek 5 sees Eddie Howe’s men host Everton before they clash with Southampton (away) and West Ham (home).

We have assessed Fraser’s numbers from the first three matches of 2019/20 to see whether his owners should be patient or not.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the new season can access it in full.

How has Fraser started the season?

Lessons learned from Gameweek 3

I don't like these posts but go on then

      A) One cleanie + one assist
      B) One cleanie + a BAP or two
      C) Two cleanies and potentially an assist too - surprisingly decent attacking numbers so far from him

Surprised how poorly Pukki is doing in the captain pool. I understand the appeal of Sterling, but West Ham's defence looks to be the worst in the league (at least according to Doosra's Dodgy Defences table). Man City clearly have more goal threat as a team, but Pukki's goal involvement for Norwich is extremely high, which kinda balances things out in my mind, and I see West Ham as the better fixture. What am I missing?

A brand new player playing for a brand new team. There are many unknowns. Will you be confident enough to captain over a city asset?

        4 years, 8 months ago

Yeah, have had the armband on Pukki since Sunday and feeling pretty comfortable with my decision. Playing the game a little bit differently this from my normal approach i.e. no hits taken so far, wildcard still intact, and gonna divert from picking whoever is top of the FFS poll if the stats back up a differential.

    3. KGFC
      • 7 Years

Damn it! Sshhhh. He is a fantastic differential captain. The thing going with Sterling is that City are overall too explosive and therefore expected to score a lot more. But since they have too many good players as well, I can see the points being shared among Aguero/Sterling/others.

people are too scared to captain him, they play the game with fear which is just absolutely baffling to me. Too scared to go with a different pick in case it goes wrong.

I'm actually giving more weighting to the away fixture on this occasion - loads of counter attacking opportunities for Norwich against an attacking team with poor defensive organisation.

West Ham's defensive data looks so bad because they've already played City. Brighton might have some of the worst defensive stats by the end of the weekend.

this idea of putting Greenwood as 1st sub if martial doesn't play doesn't sit well, he could easily get 5 mins at the end and get 1 point. its an annoying injury as he'll likely be back after the break

Wick to Haller a fair gamble, but could cost 2. Upside of a couple of goals and bonus points outweighs that I think. With injury worries over Mount and Martial, wouldn’t risk it, as even if fit might come off early.

      Hi guys

Perez needs to go. I’d prefer Mount to McGinn but Kane worries me and am eyeing up Aguerro for his upcoming fixtures. I can’t afford Mount and Aguerro so would be McGinn in this case.

A: Mcginn - decent fixtures, on some set pieces, stats are mixed, not sure about his goal involvement
B: Barkley - decent fixtures, good team, might not start but looked decent last game
C: Cebellos - good fixtures from gw5, on corners but is he nailed? not a goalscorer but good chance for assists
D: Cantwell - already have pukki. fixtures are good but main issue i will likely have to start him vs. city (unless rico plays). Leaves 1.2m itb to upgrade dendocker to 5.8m but then i might as well get that 5.8 mid right now

Read my mind, my exact issue haha.
Leaning towards McGinn, and you've hit some of my concerns. Does he play a number 10? Does he play more deep-lying playmaker? Any Villa fans can ellaborate.
Ceballos, have some things I like and some I dont like about him. Historically does not return very much with Read or Betis in his career history. Plus, is he nailed? His performance vs Burnley, is it the anomaly or the norm?
Cantwell, not going to double on Norwich.
Barkley- Im just going to be blatantly discriminatory and say a big NO.

Here's a differential choice that I'm considering. Moussa Djenepo. Not the best fixtures, but Redmond limped off he game vs Fulham, and Djenepo impressed in his cameos vs Pool and BHA. Might warrant a start this weekend. Only 5.4m . Passes the eye test with flying colors.

McGinn would be my pick. He passes the eye test and is nailed which is most important

Hmmm....interesting between him and Lanzini to come in if Martial is out

Is Cantwell a lot more attacking than Dendonker?

It seems so looking at the numbers and positions

Den is a Box-to-box whereas Cantwell is left wing. I think both are good picks but I'd expect a bit more from Cantwell and that's reflected in the new price.
