In tonight’s Members article, we pay another visit to the Team Statistics area. With plenty of data available to help with your Fantasy choices, we analyse each side’s performance in the previous Gameweek both from a defensive and attacking point of view.

Digging deeper, we then pick apart the previous four Gameweeks from a cumulative perspective, looking at any patterns or even anomalies that have recently emerged as we continue our planning for those crucial final five Gameweeks of the season:

So the FA Cup Final is on 5th May.

    GW 37:
Chelsea play Liverpool on 5th May

Spurs play Villa on 6th May

Everton play Wolves on 6th May

So the two teams that do reach the final, their GW 37 has to be rearranged right? So are we talking about YET another DGW?!

Interesting that last season the FA Cup final was on the same weekend as a pre-existing Man City v Stoke game.

By that score, the final will be Chelsea v Liverpool this time around.

I considered this, but as all games have to finish together, I assume if the game is rearranged it would have to be before the final games and therefore NOT in GW38.

By my reckoning, its more likely to be midweek in GW37, plus players rested, so potentially cup finalists are ones to avoid.

    Repost:

This is my team for GW 34:
    Mignolet
    Caulker-Kompany-Evans-Sagna
    Yaya-Sigurdsson-Sess-Valencia
    Rooney-RVP (C)
Subs: Schwarzer-Dempsey, Simpson, Cisse and 2.2 in the bank

I’m 80 points clear of my rivals in my main mini-league, so would you do any changes to this team, or keep the transfer for GW 35? I was thinking of Yaya to Walcott, have the funds necessarry. I don’t like Theo but he gets the points seemingly out of nowhere and looks like a must these days. What do you guys think? Thanks!

    HV:

Lol sorry had gone out for lunch.

He's nailed-on, bar Mancini's rotation. But it's a gamble. If I were in your position, I prolly would play it safe, do Ryo > McClean and set the stage for Papiss to come in next week. Don't trust Jelly to start both games. Would you be able to afford Papiss next week, if you get McC?

Another alternative could be just 10 players: Ryo > McC. Then transfer the Pig out for Cisse, freeing funds up for the DGW. I quite like this, since you'd fancy EVE to be a tough fixture.

If you really are, then Vermaelen's a good shout (purely for his offensive calibre)
But Wigan & Norwich are in a good run of form at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised to see a non-CS for either.

I mean, in all fairness, I would have lost my H2H even if I had done that. I would have been playing 4 points for someone who wasnt a differential in that match, so, meh, whatever.

Overall, of course, it was a horrible decision.

But, here I am again, in an 8 point hole before the week has even begun.

Just cos it looks like teams here, doesn't mean you won't do well. Mind you, FFS is barely 5% of the total number of teams on FPL.

I was surprised you got Siggy in for Dyer and Cisse in, when the objective should have been to field 11 players this week.

Newman, there's nothing to depressed about. You have a better rank than most people on here. A top 1k finish is definitely on the cards with the casuals taking gw34 & gw36 lightly.

Yeah, they are only 5% of teams, but they are a LOT of the higher ranking ones, most of which will cruise straight on past me this week.

                  Like Jinswick.

Yeah, the Siggy and Cisse moves seemed crazy, but they both had great fixtures, and I was sick and tired of missing out on not having them. With Siggy, Dyer had to go: he wasn't starting anymore. I actually don't regret that one at all, as far as Im concerned I got rid of a questionable starter for GW 34 and got a sure fire one.

Cisse..........ok, stupid. Again, desperae because of all the missed points and scared out of my mind of missing a huge haul at bolton that never came.

I guess back then, fielding 11 wasn't a big deal to me. Now I'm starting to see how important that will be.

I honestly really doubt I'll slide into the top 1k. Haven't had a truly good week in a long time. I am missing all the good bandwagons, and captaincy isn't working at all.

                  We'll see if youre right.

Yeah I'd rather be depressed about my GW34 situation but load up on free DGW players for GW36. Not keen to follow your lead on an 8pt hit just to field a solid GW34 side

Honestly, part of the reason I did it is this: I dont WANT more than 7 DGWers.

I want to play RVP, Caulker, Sess, and Siggy that week. That leaves only 7 spots for doublers.

Each to their own, I'm happy with just RVP and Siggy but with the way Swansea are going at the moment even Siggy may not be that great come GW36. I will do the 9-10DGWers approach and see if it makes up for this GW

I wont be playing you H2H, so I really hope it goes awesome for you.

The other factor for me was rotation. Almost all the teams with doubles have done it lately. Too scary, for me. This weekend has much less rotation risk.

Fair point on rotation. I will have to do my homework on that closer to the time and see how the FA cup results turn out. It wasn't helped by the fact I bought in two DGWers since we've found out about it all so I kind of have to work with what I've got myself into and that's the DGW approach.

Roberto, I read your rant on previous pages and my season has similarly gone down the pan in recent weeks. I'm going into this week without Walcott while everyone around me will have him. It's happened a lot recently where I've been weeks behind with a transfer and I've been caught and passed.

Just wanted to empthasise is all.

Yeah thats not so good if their a wee bit rubbish at FPL. In all my minileague's with mates I'm either 1st or 2nd so its nice and competitive. They are what I call serious casuals. Often solid but unspectacular top 100k players

I want both rank and mini-league success. My problem is my expectation levels are high because I've finished top 1,000 twice. That's my benchmark and anything less isn't good enough.

Most things have merit this week with the shortage of players. If you have less than 11 then it's 0 for Cisse or -4 in this case vs Aguero. Will you be swapping back etc or getting Cisse back another way?

Always harder taking a hit for a defender. Have a feeling Wigan will score but he is very attacking so may get some return there instead.

I also feel fielding 11 this week is important. There could be rotation (so need as many bodies as possible), and also gw36 could be a rotation mess, so might well backfire.

I have a FT this week & will more likely play 10. I even have Senderos to sell but may keep him as his replacement needs to score 4 to breakeven as FTs are GOLD now. Verm is the best option but my lack of team value is hurting me when it comes to upgrading Graham.

As I said, answer these questions
                a) will I play Verm in other GWs?
                b) what does the 0.9 spent on Verm cost me in later transfers?

Depends on the Admin of the League. GW36 means 8 in quarter final. The option is given at the beginning of the season to the Admin. If GW35 is the last H2H match then it's Quarter Final knockout.

    Morning deadzone.

I was on the train back from our factory when barfagate broke yesterday. As a barfa owner, i'm going to say that he definitely should have got some baps, but there was plenty on here suggesting that Dave did nothing all game other than score a tap in to earn the 3 baps. Did you watch the game? Nobody really played well, including Dave, but he played a lot better than most (maybe all) of the other players on the pitch. Holding the ball up well, and bringing others into play. Watched a recording of MOTD on the train, and Alan Hansen certainly agrees with me! So in summary, Barfa should have got 2 or 3 bonus, but it was quite right that dave should get 2 or 3 as well!

Yeah I sometimes wonder if we can alter the criteria somewhat for Bonus. Perhaps that will be looked at in time for next season. Newcastle defense shouldn't have done so well on bonus because Krul did a lot of work.

I watched that game and it was bloody awful, so boring UNTIL Ben Arfa came out of nowhere and broke through Bolton's defence. He changed the game and for that reason of course deserved bonus points but unfortunately it just doesn't work that way chinamag. Not sure whether they'll change it next year either!

I wouldn't suggest trying to pick who deserves bonus points, might lead to a fair bit of stress haha.

Shots off targets have a big bearing on PPI. 3 shots off target took a few points off. The 2 defenders just beat him so the CS was the difference there. 2-1 would probably get HBA 2 points.

Has this changed as the season has progressed? I seem to remember that earlier in the season, a goal in a low scoring game = bonus points, pretty much every time? Or am i remembering wrongly? Or did it just happen that early season goal scorers didn't have any shots off target??

Sots off target have always been penalised quite abit. HBA scored 29 in PPI. I think a goal is worth around 15-16 in PPI. He did alot of good things outside that but the 3 shots off target & possible his 1 foul counted against him. He would have got 2-3 if he only had the 1 shot all game.

Yeah. That's the way I see it too. But my mini league is so tight, every point counts, so it hurts even more!

Regarding the bonus, and all of the other problems with the game this year. Do we think that the scout, in their official partner capacity will be allowed any influence in making suggestions for improvement for the game next year? Maybe we can all give suggestions, and the scout takes the best ones and put them to the powers that be at the end of the season.

During our H2H clash, in the beginning
he was leading but he predicted his lost due to his wrong captaincy choice(Rooney)
          while i had RVP(C)

I've been tinkering this all week, so one last q and I'm out of this mess.

My keepers are Krul + Sorensen, so what do you think
    a) Sorensen => Given
Story: have to take a hit, and because of his this week fix, I have to play Given also next week to make any sense for this move

    b) Go without a keeper
Story: Profit for this week for Vorm/Mign would be max 2-3 point - not worth it.
Profit for Given would come gw35 if I'm lucky, but Krul has good fixture then too - not worth it.

    I'm leaning to plan b.....

Its a rule from the official champions league fantasy game..

          ********

After all matches on a single day have finished and before the next matches start, you can:

1: Replace any player who wasn't sent off, with one from your bench whose team is yet to play.

2: Change your captain if he wasn't sent off, with a player from your squad whose team is yet to play.

Players who are substituted out will score 0 points, the captain bonus will be lost from your original captain if a new captain is selected. Substitutions and captain changes can't be cancelled once confirmed.

An unlimited number of manager substitutions can be made, however, it is not possible to make manager substitutions after games on the last day of the Matchday, as all fixtures will have been completed.

If a manager substitution or captain change is made then no automatic substitutions will take place on your team that Matchday.
