The Dugout Discussion opens for the concluding fixture of Gameweek 34, which sees 17th placed Wigan Athletic travel down the 3rd placed Arsenal. The team news for the game is in, and the sides line-up as follows…

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Vermaelen, Andre Santos, Song, Arteta, Walcott, Rosicky, Benayoun, van Persie.

Wigan XI: Al Habsi, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, Boyce, McCarthy, McArthur, Beausejour, Moses, Di Santo, Gomez.

A single change from the side that brushed Wolves aside for the Gunners, as Tomas Rosicky comes in for Aaron Ramsey in midfield.

Despite condemning Manchester United to only their fourth defeat of the season, Shaun Maloney isn’t in the visitors squad. Jordi Gomez replaces the Malaysian born Scot.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and can be accessed right here.

    Thinking about Rooney+McClean->Auero/Tevez +BArfa

    Would give me this team for GW35:

    Vorm
    Komp-Verm-Evans
    Siggy-Demps-Walcott-BArfa
    RVP-Cisse-Tevez/Aguero

    Looking as ill be benching valencia, should i just get rid instead of mcclean to free up cash??

    Cheers in advance

        yes. Everton will pile players behind the ball. I see it being a 1 or 2-0 game at most.

          I think you have to weigh up the returns on this one. I think you have already decided City will score heavily v WOL.

    The way I see it, is that if you are planning on getting a DGW player in for GW36 (eg Bale, or Adebayor), than bringing in a city player for this week will cost you 4 pts. That's a measly 4pts to cover the risk of them going biblical, and you missing out on a massive haul.

      It's not just that, it's not that you're just transferring out a player who isn't going to score any points.

        But surely you would only be doing it because you expect the player you bring in to score more points than the one he replaces. Otherwise there is no point. So it will only cost 4pts IF the player you replace, matches what the player you bring in gets.

          Yeah of course. I just don't expect it to pay off quite as well, maybe both Aguero and tevez will score but the chances of other people not chipping in goals and assists as well. It's chasing points still, very unlikely you'll see as many goals as you did last game.

        You know we are tied on the same overall pts, but sadly you are ahead by 10 in h2h. I am now confused about taking any 4pt hit this week.

            That's an understatement. You have according to me 2 of the most likely performers this week. At least wigan are on form , so they might make it difficult for you. Must also hope stoke park the bus at Newcastle.

    Are pepole seriously thinking about shipping out RVP and Rooney? I think it's insane. Arsenal home to a tired and injury struck Chelsea defence that will have to attack on Emirates and give them plenty of counter opportunities and United home against jaded Everton who just lost all hopes of reaching anything this season.

    I think they are both very likely to rip it up.

            Just as well means they will probably rip it up like the other two 😀

            Still not worth a transfer imho. That being said, I may be completely certain now, but my knees will start jerking as we approach the deadline.

          Everyone is scared of Tevez. Especially in the dark.

          Go with Aguero if you must. He plays more upfront and is likely to outscore him + gives you a differential.

    I don't think it's mental to get rid of RVP or Rooney, but I'm still labeling it a knee-jerk.
    I doubt many, if any, of you that are selling one or both of them would have considered it before City scored 6 past Norwich.
    I'd say stick to your plan - and good luck whatever you're doing.
    There's probably been no better time this season to ditch RVP for CHE sto (assuming you get him back for the last two) but don't go doing silly transfers and leaving yourself in a regrettable situation come GW36/37/38.

      What do you think of Rooney+McClean->Tevez+BArfa? Would keep Tevez through the double instead of Adebayor, depending on Ade's form.

      1) I can see Everton-United being low scoring match(1 or 2-0)
      2) I can see City ripping wolves a new one
      3) BArfa coming in for the double+in red-hot form!

    Mrs China Mag has the exact money to do Valencia + Rooney - Silva + Aguero.

    She sees the balance of power shifting again to the blue side of manchester.

    Would both be for free.

    Would leave her with 6 DGW players, and hopefully some points in the bag to spend on hits if she deems necessary

    Would mean that I would have to make do with Tevez in my team!!

    What do you reckon?

    Bog
    Evans Caulker Simps
    Valencia Demps Siggy Walcott
    Rvp Papiss Roon

    subs Migs Sess Kaboul Mcauley
    2 FT, 3.0 in the bank

    Any advice how to spend 1 FT? Thinking of:

    1) Sess to Bale (who to bench out of 5 MF?)
    2) Upgrade Kaboul to BAE/Baines to sit on the bench (Kaboul is injured) to prepare for DGW
    3) Roon/Rvp to Aggy for 1 week punt then to Ade for DGW

    thanks

    If I'd transferred Tevez, who I put into 'my Dads' team, into my team instead of Aguero I'd have only been 3 points off the high score 🙁

    7000ish before any Vermaelen BPs even after a RVP captain fail (My lowest scoring player) isn't so bad though I suppose

      It was about 6 years ago when I started and that too after a few gw's but the only priority then was mini-leagues. Back then once the mini-league was done and dusted, I just stopped playing. Never ever bothered about overall rank.
      It's only when I discovered this site a few years back that I got conscious about my overall rank. Season ticker, the articles (back then it was just the scout picks, and the midweek meander), advice were a lot of help.
      So to answer your question, yup that's a decent rank for a beginner if this is your first fantasy football game ever.

    Finally the FPL is an open game again.

    There are now 4-6 potential heavy hitters for the final dash.

    RVP, Rooney, Aguero, Tevez

    and one or two outsiders like Drogba... or dare I suggest the blonde latino ladyboy with a huge worldwide cult following?

      Yeah I don't fancy Fulham's chances tbh. You need to llok beyond that to the DGW and it's not really much more tasty.

      Does one good away game make Dempsey (eve, liv) a good move? I confess I wanted him in but I smell parked busses and little else in those two.

    Vorm - Hilario
    Evans - Richards - BAE - Simpson - Caulker
    Dempsey - Valencia - Sess - Siggy - Ferguson
    Rvp - Cisse - Rooney

    2FT & 4.2m in the bank.

    GW 35: Roo/RvP -> Kun & Ferguson -> Barfa
    GW 36: Richards -> DGW defender (Baines?) & Valencia -> Bale for a 4pt hit

    I'm wildcarding next week, so any transfers I make this week will likely be a 1 week punt.

    A) Rooney -> Tevez
    B) Odem -> Cisse
    C) RVP -> Aguero
    D) Any 2 for a 4 point hit.

    I'm chasing a 21 point lead in my ML and the leader currently has a very similar team to me.
