As the scrap for survival enters the final four Gameweeks of the season, today’s Members article assesses the top performers from the bottom five sides over each side’s respective last four fixtures. Using our own ICT Index and the Opta stats available, we analyse the top five from each of the relegation candidates, assessing their form and the potential offered ahead of what will prove to be a frantic finish to the 2011/12 Premier League campaign. As luck would have it, this also doubles up as an assessment of those players in form amongst the ranks of Villa and Bolton – those teams with two fixtures in Gameweek 35…

Check out my team in my link^ but i need some advice on my plan...

    this GW: i play against - http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/604120/history/
plan to get rid of rvp for tevez (would aguero be a better choice?)
then get rid of mclean for ben arfa (-4)

next GW: get rid of rooney for adebayor
then get rid of maybe sessegnon for any midfilder uner 11.3(havent decided yet)

sound like a good plan? especially on the transfer of rvp to tevez/aguero im not sure if i should go through with it...

      Good plan.

I did RVP to Aguero. Tevez is fresher after his 5 month break and maybe a bit hungrier.

      Bench:
Mig as Sunderland are in poor form
Verm as they are playing a scoring Chelski
      Enrique again poor form
      Sess

Play Verm. He could score and tired Chelsea may rest strikers.

Play Mingolet. Sunderland aren't doing it up front, but their defence is solid. Wigan are scoring even against tough opposition so Fulham clean sheet is far from safe.

play verm. i doubt chelsea will play drogs again especially with their vital away tie against us coming on tuesday. so it's verm versus the mighty fernando torres. think verm actually has a better eye for goal this year... make of it what you will

Worked out I can get one of each player in each position for the DGW

    Walker or Huth

    BenAfa or Pienaar

    Bale or VDV

Currently on Walker, Pienaar, Bale, am 41 pts ahead in my mini league so not planning any major risks, look ok?

Really tempted by Huth, only thing really holding me back is he'll play QPR/Bolton in the last 2 games and I'll imagine they'll both really be going for it, unlike Stoke who have nothing to play for? - hmmmm

    Szczesny Akinfeev

I don't know if he will, but I'd bet on him scoring ahead of Welbeck. I think Group A are most likely source of cleanies at group stage.. but tbh, its pretty hard with the pricing. Will probably revise alot once I see the cheap bandwagons going on this page. Atm I can't see any real bargains.

Ahh right, I had actually forgotten about Villa to be completely honest. Could well be Llorente's time to shine, which I wouldn't complain about. Would also love to see him use his actual second name so Spain could play the two Fernando Torreses (Torri plural? 😛 )

If Villa is out I am going to keep Llorente as I believe he would be favoured over Soldado and Torres. Not sure of Robben. I am not sure how to go Dutch. I may get Benzema instead and not have any Dutch players.

You've had a cracking good last few months. With that WC in your pocket there is a chance of a top 5k finish i'd say.

tbh i'm not sure it's worth a 4 point hit just to get a City striker for this week. I agree that selling RVP/Rooney isn't a great idea. I'm likely to be going without a City striker as i have the 2 above plus Cisse. All 3 could easily outscore Tevez/Aguero.

Leading my mini league by 14.

Worth taking an 8 point hit to get rid of Graham & Sess?
Would have a minimum of 13.9 to spend.

    Which combo is better?

    a) Cisse + Moses
    b) Ben Arfa + 7.9m striker
    c) another combo

    Team is http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/5003/event-history/34/

With a) they are differentials, with b) it might cover HBA.

I think Jelly and Ben Arfa is your best bet with that budget. BA > Moses after DGW.

Jelly has good fixtures up to the end (of course, no good this week), while Cisse's turn sour in GW37.

Chasing a 40pt lead and also got 3 other opponents in the mix, two about level with me and one about 30pts ahead of me. For days I have been thinking about what to do but it's suddenly hit me...do nothing.

I don't have either City strikers (I have Yaya Toure)
    I don't have Dempsey
I don't have any Newcastle offensive players
I don't have any Spurs players
    I don't have Walcott
    I don't have any Bolton/Villa players

While everyone around me tries to 'make a move' I am going to make my move by simply doing nothing this week, saving my transfer and have 2 for the double, where I will be able to see how my opponents are shaping their squads for it by their transfers this week.

    RVP (c) for me also.

    Let's hope it pays off.

I don't think City will thrash Wolves and then they face United so don't fancy Aguero/Tevez.
Fulham play one of the in form teams in the league (Wigan) and then have two trips to Merseyside where goals have been hard to come by for opposition sides this season (Liv 13 conceded at home and Eve 14)
I will give you Newcastle but Cisse won't score forever and I'd be more tempted to go with Ba for the differential as he's still on pens and is still getting chances.

My line up this week fwiw is

              Reina
              Evans/Kompany/Williamson
              Yaya/Sess/Sig/Valencia
              Rooney/RVP/Suarez

Think it will do pretty well in all honesty.

Solid defence 3/4 at home and the away at Wolves
Valencia at home to Everton with no Baines
Sig is dynamite away from home
For some reason I fancy one of Yaya/Sess to get a big haul
              Rooney at home to Everton
RVP at home to a tired Chelsea
Suarez at home to WBA who they thrashed earlier in the season

honestly i'm hoping for a barca bayern final. barca cuz im a huge fan and bayern not because i don't like madrid but mainly because as intense as the classicos are, i want to see a different game. all the ones last year plus the spanish super cup this year has been quite a lot. and we get classicos all the time in the league and in the copa del rey and the spanish super cup so i'd much rather see a different game and a EUROPEAN not spanish final in the champions league final

On a hunch tbh. I think its about time Rooney does well against his old club. With City most likely winning and being 2 pts behind they will be fired up. Also its been a trend lately with Demps and Aguero scoring a brace away from home.

Neither does the performance of a player on a different team the week before mean sh!t in terms of determining what Rooney is going to do. I figure he may well score. Probably will, to my dismay. He's a great player. Has nothing whatsoever to do with what Dempsey or Aguero may have done though.

I think he'll bag a goal against them for once. Rooney is always likely to score at OT anyway but with Everton left with nothing to play for, United being at home, Baines being out etc it seems to be set up to be an easy home win even more than usual.

Everton never checks out at end of season. Even when "nothing to play for". No I think it's possible that he scores, but Everton defense generally solid and they generally get up well for big games.

Yep. Second half of the season is where Everton shine and they won't roll over, it certainly won't be a rout, but in the last 4 seasons Everton have always lost their game against United at OT. I don't see that changing and I expect Rooney to get on the scoresheet this time.

    Good morning fettlers

Which one of these would you bench this week: Siggy, Dempsey, Walcott, Valencia, Bale?

I've been tending towards benching Bale all week owing to Spurs poor away form but with QPR needing at least a point and having to attack there might well be a few goals in this one. Walcott could either disappear into Cole's pocket or have a decent game, although he was bobbins against Wigan the other night. Valencia just chugs along picking up the assists and the odd goal. It's a tricky one, that's for sure.

Front 3 are Rooney, Cisse, RVP. Cheers.

Tough but depends on circumstances I guess. Are you in a tight mini league? What will your rivals do?

If simply playing for overall rank then I'd bench Walcott on the basis that you have RVP as Arsenal cover.

I'm buying Dempsey back this week for Sess and decided to keep Walcott. Arsenal have two decent fixtures after the DGW, although whether two attacking Arse players is one two many we'll just have to see. I may swap Walcott for a dgwer next week.

Don't fancy Verm to score again on Saturday? The last couple of times he's scored, he's scored again in the next game. tbh i am purely playing him for his attacking threat which is probably a mistake. I don't fancy an Arsenal clean sheet at all

You have it right. Newcastle are not really worthy of a double up and Kelly/Fulham are hopeless at keeping cleanies.

      Similar to mine:
      Krul
Kompany Evans Caulker (with Verm 1st sub)

The last time i doubled up at the back on Newcastle it ended in tears and since then i've benched Simpson and missed out on a couple of clean sheets. Stoke are hardly prolific away from the Brit. But like i said above i'd be purely playing Verm for his attacking threat and fully expecting him to concede.

Saying that i'd probably play him ahead of Caulker in your position 🙂

I'm still mulling over playing Verm over Caulker at the minute myself but that's the way I currently have it. Like you, I do not see a CS for Arsenal in that game so Verm has to deliver attacking returns and I'm still not sure I want to gamble on that.

A lot of people would disagree with my advice not to double up on Newcastle. The thought behind it being, if you think Krul has a good chance of CS then surely you think Simpson has the same chance and you should back both. It is one situation where people do believe the myth of "coverage" has some credence. I just find that spreading the risk wins in the long run. Sometimes you'll miss out on the double CS, other times the defence worthy of doubling up actually concedes and you're glad you halved the damage. With CS' being so unpredictable I tend to always aim for the latter.

My thinking is the same when it comes to doubling up at the back. It's a high risk strategy which i generally shy away from. However in this case i think it may be worth it.

As i mentioned above, Stoke have scored the fewest away goals in the league and Newcastle have conceded 0 in their last 3 home games. All point to a 1-0 or 2-0 win to Newcastle.

If only football was that predictable eh.... 😀

              😆 If only.

I just think you will not be too disappointed if Krul keeps a cleanie and Simpson is sitting on your bench. You'll get some points either way.

WHEREAS you will be very disappointed if Verm scores and he is sitting on your bench.

They are worse than i thought. 11 goals for Stoke away all season which is good enough for joint worst in the league (with Fulham)

Evans, Kompany and Simpson IMO as I said before. I know you said you don't like to double on Newcastle but I reckon Chelsea will sneak one and it's not logical to put your hopes on a defender's attacking potential.

are mostly just thoughts... hunches... guesses... dreams blinded by brilliant performance of one week followed by tasty fixture... At this point in the season, not sure there is a right/wrong. Noise in variation from week to week is louder than true signal difference between two players as played out over longer stretch of games owned.

My thoughts have been condensed to...

There is no clear right move. It is not clear whether the switch will be worth it in the long run. It is not clear who to sell (Rooney or RVP). It is not clear who to get (Aguero or Tevez).

The only thing that is guaranteed is that if you stick with what you have, you will have one more free transfer to work with next week. I am therefore banking that positive and rolling with the punches this weekend. Good luck.

It depends on each player's situation, I imagine. If you're way ahead in your mini-league, have a decent team for the dgw and beyond or still have a wildcard up your sleeve then it's a fair gamble, I think.

Morning chaps, what do we think to these moves?

    GW35: Walcott -> Bale
    GW36: Turner & Rooney -> Terry & Adebayor

This gives me 7 DGWers in GW36 for no hits, with Caulker (WOL), Siggy (WOL), Sess (BOL) and RVP (sto) making up my 11 that week. Any of these players worth taking a hit for to replace with a DGWer in GW36? After the above transfers I'll have 1.2m in the bank. Team linked. Cheers

Yeah, I decided not to make the Aguero move since I'd most likely be swapping him out in GW36 which meant I could either have Rooney (EVE) + 4points, or Aguero (wol). I'm top in my ML by 9 points so don't need any differentials. You reckon the 7 DGWers I'd have with the above is sufficient?

I would be amazed if Terry didn't miss 1-2 games between now and the end of the season. Surely he will play in Barca? Even without cracked ribs if would be difficult for him to get through the schedule.

And if he does play, he won't be as mobile, so I can see chelsea conceding in most games.

Especially at the start of the season. It's definitely been a form over fixtures season overall. The people leading my mini league at the begining were the kind of people that just brought in whatever player performed well the previous week.
