With just four weeks of the season left, desperation is starting to kick in. In Wigan’s case, that desperation seems to have spurred them on to go all out and produce their best football of the season, but for many Fantasy managers battling the odds in their own (equally important) leagues, that desperation needs a huge dollop of luck to go with it. A 50 point gap is not unassailable yet, but picking the same players from the same teams just won’t cut it; it’s time to wheel out the previously unthinkable, the outrageously risky and the downright unexpected…

David Dunn

There’s no greater motivator than the threat of relegation, and after watching Wigan and QPR pick up some unexpected points recently, Blackburn will be scrambling to turn around their fortunes in a similar fashion. Norwich rock up to Ewood Park this weekend having already secured their premier league status, and fellow strugglers Wigan visit two weeks later – the feeling is that it is probably now or never for Steve Kean’s men and the likes of Yakubu, Hoilett and David Dunn will all be instrumental if they are to pull off a great escape.

Fantasy football veterans will be more than familiar with Dunn’s frustratingly inconsistent returns. Capable of pulling off a bumper haul if you catch him in a burst of form, the downside is the succession of niggling injuries that seem to plague the 32-year-old. With just four matches remaining, however, Dunn seems to be coming into form at just the right time and at his price of 6.2 and 0.2% ownership, we reckon the tricky midfielder is worth a punt despite the risks.

Tomas Rosicky

Arsenal’s Renaissance man Tomas Rosicky epitomises the recent revival in his club’s fortunes; after spending 20 months out with a tendon problem, it was feared that Rosicky would never return to the same level but the Czech schemer has been back to his glorious best in recent games. As Arsenal’s best player against Wigan, Rosicky would probably have been a shoo-in for this weekend’s tie anyway, but with Mikel Arteta ruled out for the season and Yossi Benayoun ineligible to play against his parent club then he will surely be nailed on for the central role.

Chelsea will arrive at the Emirates just three days after a draining Champions league tie spent chasing the ball around their own half, and despite the recent resurgence under their new manager, Arsenal look like strong favourites to pick up the points. Another eight goal thriller would be a bit much to ask for, but if goals do arrive then Rosicky could prove to be huge differential considering his current price of 5.7, and low ownership of 1.2%.

Stephen Ireland

Villa can perhaps be forgiven their poor form considering their recent opponents, but this week is a huge test – Sunderland and Bolton park up at Villa Park having conceded 14 and 11 goals in their last five away games, and despite Villa recent impotence in front of goal, you have to fancy them to pick up at least a couple across the two games.

As the first name on the City team sheet (and many Fantasy football managers too) during the 08/09 season, Stephen Ireland’s decline has been pretty spectacular, scraping together just 555 minutes of play last season without a single goal or assist. The potential is always there however, and with a regular starting role in his preferred position behind the striker, he looks the pick of the Villa players right now considering his low price of just 5.2.

gotta be worth the punt if your circumstances require a haul. that said you will get 3 games out of suarez if you keep him. On balance id say have a bit of fun and go for it. Even more reason if you need a Captain this week.

My competitor has Aguero, I am thinking of getting tevez and make him captain, r we sure here he is going to start? Or play it safe and get Aguero

Should I sell Rooney or Rvp to get tevez? I am leaning towards Rooney

Would I get petrol in for a 4 point hit, is it worth it? Or should I get Siggy or HBA instead or leave Sess?

If u can afford to get him back then play the fixtures, that said I sold Rooney but aint happy about it really. Feels a marginal call but City are at home for the derby and it was 6-1 last time I believe so if you are going RVP ROO to CITY STRIKER then on balance id say its fair to back city to score more than Roo. If that makes sense lol. RVP could do well today and you will want him for the last 2 games if not stoke as well.

How certain are we of Yak's full fitness? He was a 50% chance earlier in the week (same as Hoilett). Even if they're fit, there is a chance they could break down in the game. I dumped them both on Tuesday.,

Off topic, but is anyone a laptop battery expert here? I’ve just bought a new HP laptop, and I’m not sure how I should use it in order to maximise its battery life. When I’m at home, should I always leave my laptop plugged in to a powerpoint, or should I use the laptop battery, let it run down to around 20%, then charge it?

I've had an Hp laptop for about 8 years now. Basically You never want to leave it plugged in. I've gone through 2 batteries now before I finally got it. After studying circuits at college I've learned that these 3-9 cell laptop batteries can basically be supercharged which makes the capicators open instead of holding charge. Or in simple terms it fries the battery. So plug it in til it's charged then unplug it until its dead or about dead. The only time you should ever leave it plugged in all the time is if you take out the battery and you keep the laptop plugged in for power. Hope that helps!

Those catalogue of 1s and 2s in Pertrov's history put me right off him. His only points of late have come against basement dwellers.

Ade in for Graham could be a good move if TOT show some form.

        Moves done 🙂
I just have a gut feeling about Ade getting a brace, Stoke keeping a clean sheet and petrov two assists.

Team for this week with 1FT & 1.6m in bank:

    Krul
    Verm, Evans, Simpson
    Valencia, Sigurdsson, Miyaichi, Sessegnon, Walcott
    RVP, Rooney

    Mignolet | Jelavic, Caulker, Turner

Walcott to which one of Dempsey/Bale/Silva/VDV? And ok going without City coverage this GW?

So Dempsey best option out of those 4?

Got a must-win H2H this GW and opponent has Dempsey & Cisse different to me now. Getting Dempsey would match him. And he's made 2 transfers for -4 so far, so trying to figure out what he's done!

Sticking the armband on Dempsey as well or going with RVP/Rooney?

I've got a big hunch on VDV this week but didn't have the balls to grab him for a hit. Plus I don't know if 'Arry includes VDV in his 4-5 doubtful players. Gonna be full of goals that London derby methinks.

Yeah VDV slowly rounding into form and Kranjcar out for the season should see him secure in his spot, as long as stays healthy of course. May bring him & Ade in for their DGW.

A bit nervous with no City this GW.

This weeks team good to go?

    Krul

    Verm Evans Simpson

    Bale, Valencia, Dempsey, Petrov

    Cisse Rooney RVP(c)

    Ruddy, McClean, McAuley, Cahill.

Have one more freebie if needed but would rather save it.

Chilled out week for me. I'm pretty nervous about not owning a City striker, but just seems the logical move. Hope we don't regret it. Wish i had an extra FT to gamble (damn that Bendy bus). Got my card for the big DGW - hopefully it will make a difference. I'm a tad concerned tbh - Spurs out of form + Che/Eve/Liv will rotate.

How many hits next week? Or taking it as it comes?

One hit would give me 10 I think. Depends on this weekend. Had been thinking BAE or Jagielka but may just play Verm instead. Will look at Mata after CL game.
