Scoutcast crew discuss evolving template and best chip strategies

There are some big questions for the Scoutcast crew to answer tonight.

The Fantasy Premier League template continues to break up and dissolve while new players are making cases for a place in the new so-called ‘meta team’.

Join Joe, Karam and Pro Pundit Tom Freeman on our YouTube channel to hear their discussion.

The show will run from 20:00 GMT to 21:00 GMT.

Up for consideration in the new template is Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero (£12.0m), so we will begin our analysis with him ahead of a favourable Gameweek 26 match against West Ham.

Meanwhile, those on the chopping block include John Lundstram (£5.1m), Leicester players and other cheap defenders.

Our pundits will discuss which of these they will be keeping and who should be ditched as soon as possible.

Finally, we’ll be looking ahead to the upcoming Blank and Double Gameweeks to assess when the best time to play the chips will be.

Is Martial to Mahrez/spurs mid (can't stretch to Son) worth a hit?

Currently have Kelly+3 blankers for 28.

Mahrez could be a nice punt, what’s your plan for mahrez if you get him?

    Guys,

Did Klopp say/suggest that he'll be playing kids/fringe players all the way through in this FA Cup, or just for matches up until now?

    Thanks.

Played vs Everton due to fixture congestion.

Mix of fringe & kids in the 1st Shrewbury games. Full U19s tonight because the FA make this week Liverpool's winter break.

Fringe players & a few of the top kids should start vs Chelsea.

Like in seasons gone by, I'm a pioneer when it comes to chip strategy (see https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2018/03/23/an-alternative-strategy-for-the-doubles/). I'm a bit like Ben Crellin crossed with Tom Cruise's character in Top Gun. I usually start the snowball rolling down the hill about how to play the blanks and doubles ... and then a few weeks later it becomes the common consensus amongst the FPL community and the FPL Twitter bubble.

This season I'm recommending ...... *** drum roll *** .......... that you play the FH in 34.

34 will have a cocktail of doubles, blanks and single fixtures and your team will need maximum flexibility that only a FH can offer.

You heard it here first. Free hit in 34.

Bookmark it. 34 will have a bit of everything and you'll need a FH to customise your team.

It can get complicated. But it doesn't always pay to follow the popular chip strategy.

That's been common knowledge for a few weeks now.

It'll just take a little longer for the FPL Pro's to start talking about it and the sheep to flock.

Irbox also suggested a different alternative strategy which caught my eye.
"navigate 28/31 with transfers. WC 32/33 for a DGW BB in 34, FH 37 for a DGW squad"

Yes that's another good option. It's not as clear cut this year as it was in previous years. The best option may become more apparent when the blanks and re-scheduled fixtures are decided. I'm going to get some Wolves players as they have good fixtures and will play in 31. Also maybe a Burnley defender for my bench and take it from there.

If you’re FH in 34 I assume your thinking is:

      1) Use FTs in GW26/27 to prep for small blank 28.
Ditch expensive City/Arsenal assets. Bench Villa and SHU ones. Move to Burnley assets?

      2) Playing limited squad in 31

      3) Wildcarding 35 in prep for...

      4) BB in the later DGW 37.

But then it seems odds to FH then WC the week after.

Not sure I ever seen cocktail used in fpl terminology!

I wildcarded last week and will bb in 29.

Want to not free hit in 31. No idea how I'll navigate 37....guess I'll use fts and take hits from 35 onwards!!

With Burnley guaranteed game in 31 thinking on WC Pope may be better option alongside McCarthy than Henderson if thinking may save FH for DGW. Against that Sheffield United will have double- who do you think best keeper with McCarthy

A Pope as plays 31 and rotation not bad- and .4 m cheaper
B Henderson- in form but no playing keeper in 31 if want to save FH for DGW
    C Dubravka- perfect rotation

I’m a big fan of rotating two keepers. But I’ve moved to just Pope and Button.

+Extra money to make the rest of the team better
+I backed Pope from the start to do well, he’s done well in the games I had benched him when I had two keepers.
      -No use for BB
-Have to play Pope in tough games
-Small risk of injury/rotation meaning points lost/FH/hit to fix it.

      I think it’s worth it.

It's a tough one. Egan and O'Connell are close to going up so I'd probably do it tonight. You still have another FT if an issue arises later in the week.

Do kinda want Stevens but that's probs best option tbh

Would you expect Martial to be moved out to the wing now that Utd have signed Ighalo? If so I think it's time to get rid. I was losing patience with him anyway.

Surely not, I hope an pray Ighalo is purely cover due to Rashford being injured, wouldn't be expecting him to start much if at all.

I'm just thinking that Martial has been poor up front for the last couple of games so Ole might give Ighalo a go.

Ole knows he's been playing tired and has said as much so hoping for a rejuvenated Tony after the break.

I think Ighalo will be impact sub. Either way, not happy with Martial, got rid on WC.

2 FTs and 0.2 ITB and not sure what I want to do.

    Ryan
    TAA Robbo Lundstram
    Salah KDB Martial Grealish Trossard
    Vardy Jimenez

    (Button Stephens Greenwood Soy)

Feel like giving Lundstram one last chance and whilst I know quite a few will say Martial has to go I'm keen to keep for now.

    Appreciate any thoughts.

    A) Lundstram/Soy to Lacselles
    B) Something else?

Like yourself and many others, I'm facing the Lundstram dilemma. Perhaps another week for Lundstram?
      Trossard > Traore an option?
Or, can you squeeze enough cash for Martial/Greenwood > Traore/Ings?

Cheers. Yeah Trossard to Traore was always on the cards tbh but wouldn't mind seeing what the former can do vs Watford at home. 0.5 short of the moves you mentioned so probably not.

    How's the WC looking?

    Hendo McCarthy
    TAA Boly Fernandez Stephens Stevens
    Salah Son Barnes Traore Mooy
    Aguero Ings Jimmy

Money itb to get Mane back in.

A little light in midfield for mine but considering you have banked Mane money I guess that's to be expected.

Solid side given the amount of cash being held on-hand for the Mane upgrade.
