I for one vote we replicate the late 90's Parma Jersey & colour scheme

    https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/5z6og8/parmas_1999_squad_that_won_uefa_cup/

Generally acknowledged to be the most beatiful shirt in the history of football 🙂

Always had a soft spot for Parma in my youth. Great team they had back then with some serious players. It's a shame they didn't win more during that period and what happened to the club a few years later.

Their home jersey was decent too!

Yeah it was actually tragic what happened to the club, so sad - they were many people's gateway-drug to Serie A in that late 90's halycon period, they were certainly mine for sure, such a refreshing antidote to the domination of both The Old Lady & Milan

Serie A's Magnificent Seven that existed around that time rivalled anything the Premiership has ever managed to produce in terms of sheer number of ridiculously competitive clubs

Juve, Milan, Inter, Roma, Lazio, Parma, Fiorentina - all had realistic claims to the throne for that 2-3 period

And my favorite striker of all times - Batigol.
He had it all - left foot, right foot, close range, long range, free kicks, headers.

Also, Ronaldo's 1st season at Inter was something I never seen before - made best defenders in the world look like Arsenal's backline 😉

Batistuta was a amazing 🙂 Could you imagine if he had came to the Premier League in his pomp

That Fiorentina team had Rui Costa behind him too, Edmundo alongside him, Toldo in nets, Enrico Chiesa actually swapped from that Parma side to join them as well

They had another absolutely amazing jersey by the way - the one with Nintendo as the main sponsor

He would have set the PL alight.
His numbers only say half the story, you need to consider how tactical Seria A have been (still is) and defenders he was facing - Maldini, Baresi, Costacurta, Nesta, Cannavaro, Thuram, Bergomi, Ferrara, Zanetti to only name most famous ones.

He was alongside Shearer in terms of ability imo - and would have done similar damage to Shearer in England, if not even greater

He would have loved the physical side of the English game too & would have been like a hot knife through butter against the central defences he'd have faced in England compared to late 90's Serie A

Relief to hear this as a utd fan: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52267918

Utd need to be looking at a short term 1/2 season option that provides cover for the short term & to whom Greenwood can act as understudy for 18-24 months as he develops & matures

If they could swing it, Auba would be puuuurfect - he's good enough as a lone striker to actually propel utd up the table in the short term into the bargain, and will need to step aside due to age in another couple of seasons, those next two seasons likely being his best, or close to his best.

Vardy would also be interesting - Leicester might find it difficult to down a big (€20m+) offer for a 33 year old...

Benzema is coming 33, Suarez is coming 34 Barca are shambolic administratively/behind the scenes at the minute so that could be taken advantage of...but the Liverpool factor might scupper that

Lewandowski would be mental - he's coming 32 so again wouldn't cost the Earth - is an ambitious signing, but Utd have deep pockets that could maybe turn either his or Bayern's heads, stranger things have happened

Either way, Greenwood (Not Kane) is the long term answer, just need a short term bridging solution until young Marcus comes of age

    --Sancho--Bruno--Rashford--
    ----------Greenwood-------------

Should be the long term aim for 2/3 seasons down the line... *if* utd have any strategic sense

You've got a really decent squad there and it must be tricky to know any tinkering could be a negative, although you probably feel like you don't want to waste transfers. If I was in your position, I'd be thinking about ditching players from teams with nothing to play for, but that does just seem to be Burnley, Crystal Palace, Everton, Newcastle United and Southampton. Some players like DCL might suffer a dip in form - his eye might have been on the Euro 2020 prize, with Kane and Rashford both injured and some potential good form leading to a place in the squad. Now that has gone, will his motivation go? United are pushing for the Champions League and have a good run in, but you only have one asset.

But I can't spot anything within two transfers that would significantly improve your squad. Maybe bring in a keeper that will play twice?

Wow, Trump's latest press conference behaviour was shocking, even by his own standards - the way he tries to shut people down from the pulpit is abhorrent to watch

Fair play to Paula Reid not to let herself get intimidated or bullied despite his best efforts - the composure she showed was admirable & should be commended

I actually watched that full presser last night and i think CNN's behavior is pretty shocking Max.

They were attacking Trump for not acting early enough but when he closed the border to China back in January they were labeling him as a "racist" and a "xenophobe".He was also attacked by the New York Times but they were beating a different drum after he started introducing travel bans and restrictions.

      https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/31/asia/wuhan-coronavirus-racism-fear-intl-hnk/index.html
      https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/04/opinion/trump-travel-ban-nigeria.html

Paula Reid works for the propaganda branch of the democrat party in the USA and has no credibility tbf.

      Did Trump act too late?
Did Trump act because he hates the nations and peoples of the country's he imposed restrictions?
Or maybe just maybe did he act on his advisers recommendations and made what must have been a tough decision at the time?

I rate you as a pretty smart guy Max and i am surprised you have been taken in by MSM propaganda.

It's not actually the politics to be honest - more the behaviour - in particular the worrying preference for (thankfully unsuccesfully) attempting to resort to intimidation/avoidance as opposed to actually listening to the question & addressing in a constructive manner the concerns that were raised

      2. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus

The piece I have a problem with is that he repeatedly shouted her down to the point where she could barely ask the question - whereas he should have let her ask the question and then give his response accordingly - Regardless of Reid's employer, her background, her politics or any of her other baggage - she is a person and deserves to be treated as such

The way he censored Fauci the other day was equally baffling - how someone in such a position of responsibility gets away with what he gets away with is at best astounding & at worst terrifying

The fact that he had Whitehouse resources producing an actual publicity video at this time is another thing entirely

Can you send me a link to where he was shouting because i didn't see that part?

Paula sounded more like she was making a statement than asking a question to me Max.

Fauci took to the pulpit first and sounded like he spoke freely and of his own volition to me and does not strike me as the kind of man that would take censorship laying down.

He acted very cool under the circumstances considering some media hack was trying to talk over him.
Why would you be terrified by his behavior? As world leaders go he is quite tolerant.Just imagine the leaders of lets say China,Russia or Suadi Arabia taking questions form media hacks like that and what would happen to them if acted like they do when questioning and doing story's about Trump's leadership? He is a big teddy bear compared to some those guys.

He can direct his staff to do what ever he wants them to do and he owned them by playing their own clips back to them. They had to pick their jaws back up off the floor after their bs was pointed out the them.

          He played a blinder.

You watched the conference though right? So you saw the bit where he repeatedly used a position of authority to drown out a question he was being asked rather than allow the person ask the question, then answer it?

With Fauci last week he blatantly stepped in front of him, and actually stated that the question wasn't going to be answered - it was horrible to watch, the dissonance it creates as the leader of a nation that prides itself on freedom of speech is insane

I haven't actually made any reference to Trump's policy, good or bad (purposely), and nowhere in the thread have i made reference to "MSM"'s communication, good or bad (purposely) but what I did observed was, not for the first time, extremely disturbing behaviour on the part of Trump, whatever his policies happen to be - his behaviour and interaction I honestly found shocking, hence the OP

Paula would still be making her statement if he did not butt in Max.

If she was a real journalist then she would not ask loaded questions and not give him a chance to answer them.
I seem to remember that he said he would provide an itinerary of the activity during February,i am sure he was a very busy man during that period.

I respect your opinion Max but at the end of the day it who the citizens of the USA want as their leader counts.

That's a totally different issue to what I raised in the OP though - as I said, I'm not critiquing his policy (good or bad), or MSM's policy (good or bad)

I'm saying that what I witnessed was totally unacceptable behaviour from him, and not for the first time - he dealt with the situation in a totally inappropriate fashion - the way he tries to shut people down from the pulpit is abhorrent to watch

And again, regardless of Paula Reid's politics, her history, her position, her employer, or any of her other situational factors (good, bad or indifferent), the composure she showed was admirable & should be commended - she did not to let herself get intimidated or bullied despite the best efforts of Trump to do exactly that...

I'm sorry, but I just can't condone Trump's behaviour - it was disgraceful

Even leaving to one side the ins & outs of who was right in February, who was wrong in January, who did this, who didn't do that, becuase those are debates that can & would go around in circles for the next 100 years if they were allowed

The (public) behaviour of the man as an actual person and his (public) treatment of anyone who shows an inkling of questioning is consistently shocking imo

            Absolutely.
All he cares about in any given situation is how it affects him and how he is being perceived, the level of narcissism he displays on a regular basis is incredible.
Zero empathy. Was even comparing his viewership figures to The Bachelor and other shows on-air at the same times as his press conferences, as if that was somehow a proxy of what a great job he had been doing...

In all subjects there are two sides to an argument.
However, to in this case it's a big no-no.
The man is an incompetent buffon of the highest order, his handling of this and his presidency is nothing short of a disgrace.
As for as America's handling of this it's not over yet and it will get a loss worse.
Back to Trump, the man has lied throughout this process from day 1, this has only been about him and his ability to get another term as presidency, nothing else.
Even now new evidence comes out provided by him and his administration.
Look at last week when he showed his graph of the 'tremendous' increase in covid testing. The graph clearly shows thaat the testing numbers basically started on approx 5th March, npw go back and look at his press conferences in February. Trump stating that testing is best in world, perfect, just his letter (FFS!!!!). On March the 6th while commenting that the experts were amazed at just how knowledgaable he was about it he stated that anyone who wanted a test could have it.
It has been a calender of lies, bare faced lies. His one bit of 'genius' has been the creation of the 'fake news' tagline.

Let's not forget what's on the line if Trump loses the 2020 presidential election. SDNY and NY AG will be down his throat for several potential offenses: conspiracy against the United States, false statements, mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, disclosure violations, and foreign contributions through straw donors.

              I don't watch CNN.

Give it a read if you think I'm full of it.

              https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/court_stamped_petition.pdf

Also, here's a breakdown of Trump's promises vs what he's delivered:

              https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/trumpometer/

He successfully suspended immigration from terror-prone places. He's either stalled or compromised (which is not bad) on all of his other major campaign promises.

What kind of site actually is this?
Candice Owens tweets “everyone is drying of corona virus” - verdict: false

Hahahaha, unbelievable. If that’s the sort of data it’s compiled of politicians, then the site is broken I need look no more.

As for the 40 page document, they had a longer one called the muller investigation. What a waste of resources. Media are the boy who cried wolf. They’ve been crying for 4 years now, when he actually does something bad no one will react. He is extremely likely to being re-elected like it or not vs Joe “gramps” Biden. Biden has also got a sexual assault charge but you don’t hear about that because most of the media is left wing and doesn’t suit their narrative.

Re "gramps" - they're both grandparents and there is a four year difference between the two candidates.

How does Biden's sexual assault charge compare to Trump's track record of sexual assault?

In your opinion, FPL Pillars, what makes Trump an ideal president?

Re "gramps" - they're both grandparents and there is a four year difference between the two candidates. - gramps in the fact that he’s increasing going senile in front of our eyes and it really doesn’t look like he’s not got the fortitude and endurance for presidency. He’s off the boil and routinely now drops gaffs. Trump still has real energy and charisma when speaking, trump is going to destroy him in the debates let me tell you now.

How does Biden's sexual assault charge compare to Trump's track record of sexual assault?
                    - seeing videos of Biden sniffing young girls hair and touching them in front of the cameras - my guess is Biden trumps trump there.

Looking forward to the court battle when he gives back the keys to the Whitehouse in 2025 and anyway i am sure one of the other 49 states will take him unless they can prove a felony?

I thought they went through all this to nauseam during the congressional inquiry and the senate hearing where it all proved to be a big noting burger?

He's already moved his residency from NY to Florida. Which is very interesting.

Re his senate hearing - it's hard to prosecute Trump when the senate is a majority of republicans. It's similar to trying to prosecute a thief for stealing to a jury consisting mostly of thieves.

It's also possible that the senate flips this winter to a majority of democrats which could propose a lot of issues (and maybe another impeachment) if Trump is re-elected.

Lots of old people seem to head to Florida to retire in the USA,i wouldn't read too much into that.I wouldn't mind chilling out in Mar-a-Lago for my golden years with Melania either.

Wasn't the whole thing based on the debunked Steel dossier that subsequently turned out to be funded by the Clinton's?Now that is a real scandal if you ask me.

If it was such a bullet proof case then why did the democrat party not allow Trump to defend himself during the congressional hearing and made him wait until a supreme court judge chaired the senate hearing before he got his speak?

I think they are pretty safe in the senate tbf and if anything might win back the house of representatives if the dems don't cop themselves on.I think you are right though that if they controlled both houses that he would be stitched up and that scares me more than anything Trump has ever done.

Something like that could start a civil war in the states.

Good spot. Fairly sure the homepage only said 31-35 was postponed before, now they don't mention any weeks.

I mean we didn't expect 37/38 to go ahead as is, but interesting they'd change it before any official announcement has been made about those games, no?

Paper gossip, FWIW, is a June 6th restart.

Gonna need to be some structural re-engineering to not have to squeeze all the games into one GW but what to do with those that have used a number of free transfers...

Only 3 scenarios for me, all of which are pretty easy to prepare for.

          A) All games are squeezed into 3-8 extra gameweeks
          B) All games go into a jumbo GW 38
          C) Season gets cancelled.

If it's C (least likely imo) then whatever we do it doesn't matter. If its B, I'd imagine we'd have news on it by 37 so WC into a BB is easy for me. If it's A I want a strong XI for the last few weeks (and minimal cash stuck on the bench) with a WC in my back pocket in case I need to reshuffle my team for a DGW BB or something.

If you don't have a WC but do have a BB, I'd be using FTs to build a strong 15 now which should cover all possibilities.

Don't think this changes my thinking at all.

Appreciate the thoughts. I have slowly been tinkering to a full playing 15 squad as I have no WC but still have the bench boost to go.

            McCarthy Krul
            TAA Alonso Doherty Maguire Fernandez

Looks good. Would be a little cautious about Alonso, would not be surprised to see Chelsea playing 433 / 4231 every week leaving Alonso to fight Azpi, Reece James and Emerson for 2 spots. Not to say he won't keep playing, but given his recent starts in a back 4 came at the expense of RJ, not sure that will continue.

              Looking great everywhere else!

Alonso and Ings are the only real question marks. Fine pre BB with the squad depth but maybe worth rethinking in a bumper GW38.

Aye, but we'd likely (or at least likely in my opinion) to know at some time during or before 37, so I'd WC then in prep for 38

B has always sounded a bit extreme to me - surely any half competent coder could string a few extra gameweeks together in a matter of hours, maybe days at the very worst

I personally wonder if there isn't a "D" option though - (actually a more extreme version of "A" in fairness)

Namely - no football played in the UK until vaccine availability & proliferation, during which time (probably 18 months) the very fabric of the league is ripped apart by clubs going to the wall financially

Its a doomsday scenario, but I wonder if we haven't just witnessed the end of football as we knew it

Hopefully the Bundesliga start-up offers some clue as to how things will pan out

Can't see how they can penalise those that have rejigged via a 'slow wildcard' seeing as the site was full of info explaining how transfers/chip usage would be affected over those weeks.

They can't even revert teams to how they stood before everything came to a half without handing back chips.

Crucial thing is that *if* it resumes, we're given information on whether there can be a GW39, GW40 etc before the GW38 deadline.

For what it's worth, GW36 onwards were still visible, with fixtures, as of 11am this morning.

I think he means slow wildcard could be perceived as a mistake if it either (a) had targeted players specifically for GW36-38's fixtures, who now would no longer be targeted (i.e. based on the remaining fixtures that weren't TBD's) or (b) the infinitesimally small OR drop that came with making more FT's... neither (a) or (b) are anywhere near problems for 99.99% of managers, possibly for 100.0% to be honest

Other than (a) & (b) I struggle to think of any downside to slow wildcard really - it is literally a risk free way to strip any deadwood from a squad

I agree. I've been doing the same and have a slightly healthier squad now as a result. Zaha had to go! I don't think the very few people still playing the game should be penalised in any way. I'd like to see additional GWs added on.

Hi Ragabolly - just noticed on VirtualFPL that autosubs don't appear to have worked, is this intended or not? For example, in my team McCarthy didn't play but I received no autosub point for Heaton on bench.

Also, is there an easy place to view results from each GW, doesn't appear to be?

I see the 'results' are actually just the Fixtures page.
Would be good if these updated after the event to display the actual results - still need to run the simulation to see the results even now - or just have another section for future reference

Autosubs are included. Unfortunately, McCarthy did play as Gunn got injured and he got 0 points.

If you want to check the results of the matches for every gameweek, go to the fixtures tab (www.livefpl.net/fixtures) and click on jump to full time for the matches you want to see the scores for. You can also switch between GWs from the dropdown menu at the top.

If you want to check your points, it's the live points tab which is formatted like this: http://www.livefpl.net/%5BGameweek%5D/%5Bid%5D
So, if your id is 502, your points for GW1 will be at http://www.livefpl.net/1/502 and so on if you want to switch between gameweeks. If you want your points for just this week, just click the live points tab.
