Steven Gerrard is back for Liverpool this weekend. Charlie Adam is out for the season, though, as are Seb Larsson and Kieran Richardson for Sunderland. Younes Kaboul and Emmanuel Adebayor may be back this weekend for Spurs, while Owen Coyle has plenty of injury worries ahead of Bolton’s second double Gameweek in a row:

Liverpool have revealed that Steven Gerrard is set for a return to action ahead of their double Gameweek. The Reds skipper missed out in last weekend’s home loss to West Brom as a precautionary measure, with Kenny Dalglish confirming today the midfielder has trained all week and is “fine”. With a trip to Norwich and a home clash against Fulham up next, Gerrard has the potential to produce despite his side’s poor form – his previous double Gameweek 28 returned 22 points. Given that the FA Cup Final against Chelsea is four days after the Cottagers’ game, he should be afforded enough time to recuperate if he plays both league matches, though his chances much depend on Dalglish’s rotation thoughts, as the Merseyside club look to pick up their second piece of silverware this season.

Charlie Adam won’t be taking part, though. Liverpool confirmed earlier this morning that the former Blackpool man is out for the season with a knee problem. Adam picked up the injury in the Gameweek 29 loss at QPR and was subbed off at half-time; although he won’t require an operation, the Scot will take no further part in his side’s campaign.

Reports suggest Younes Kaboul could be in line for a shock return to the Spurs team as early as this Sunday. Although Harry Redknapp all but ruled the centre-half out for the season only yesterday, Kaboul is winning his battle to overcome a knee problem ahead of the double Gameweek matches against Blackburn and Bolton. Despite earlier reports of a fall-out with Redknapp, Emmanuel Adebayor is expected to return after missing out with a hamstring problem at QPR last week, though Benoit Assou-Ekotto remains a significant doubt after sustaining a shoulder injury – Danny Rose is expected to step up in his absence.

Seb Larsson and Kieran Richardson have both been ruled out for the season by Sunderland. Larsson has undergone minor surgery to alleviate a hernia problem and, with the Black Cats’ top-flight safety assured, Martin O’Neill has granted the midfielder leave in order to afford him enough recovery time to play for Sweden in this season’s Euro 2012. Larsson has missed just three games all season but revealed he’s been struggling with a groin problem in recent weeks, while Richardson has also went under the knife due to a groin injury – he missed last weekend’s trip to Villa due to the problem. With three games left of the campaign, Larsson’s absence is likely to offer Ahmed Elmohamady a chance on the right flank, while Phil Bardsley could continue at left-back – John O’Shea was handed the right-back role upon his return from injury at Villa last time out.

Owen Coyle has plenty of injury worries to contend with ahead of Bolton’s pair of upcoming fixtures. The Trotters’ second double Gameweek in a row sees them take on Sunderland and Tottenham but, as the manager admitted earlier today, he is sweating over the availability of a number of players after Tuesday night’s win at Villa, with his midfield, in particular, hit hard:

I don’t think it is rocket science to understand that Chris Eagles came off injured and he is one of those, while Mark Davies was touch-and-go before the game but managed to play through it. Ryo Miyaichi had a bad shoulder and got another bang on it when he was upended on the touchline at Villa Park. Darren Pratley is still shrugging off the virus he had. He hasn’t trained today but we will look at that tomorrow (Friday). There are one or two others who have taken knocks but hopefully we can get them patched up and available to go and try to win some important points at Sunderland.

Roberto Martinez revealed earlier he will give both Franco Di Santo and Hugo Rodallega “until the very last minute” to shake off injuries ahead of this weekend. The pair are struggling to overcome calf and knee problem respectively ahead of this weekend’s home game against Newcastle, leaving Wigan facing a striker shortage – Connor Sammon is likely to step in against the Magpies if both forwards miss out.

None of the official media have reported it from what I've seen. Just people on forums and Twitter.

I brought him in last week and there's no point getting rid, I'm hoping that it's just been exaggerated.

I personally wouldn't as there are more dangerous heavy-hitter double gameweek midfield options; if you've got a feeling about him though then by all means go for it.

Again, I'm not convinced, he might not play all of both games with two finals on the horizon. Do you need to take a risk? I wouldn't bring in someone expensive purely for the sake of spending the money

Im out of ideas for a huge differential, my team is: Mignolet/Krul, McAuley, Caulker, Sessegnon, Sigurdsson, Bale, Valencia, van Persie, Cisse and Rooney. Bench: Lichaj, Evans, Walcott.

I concur with below for trying VDV, that's the way I have gone.

Obviously a gamble but even with 70min appearances I think he'll be on the pitch more than Gerrard will. Just don't see Dalglish playing him before the final.

I initially only considered Kaboul to cancel out rival's BAE. He took a 4 point hit before BAE's injury, every chance he will dump him now anyway

With regard to people questioning the respective positions of Kelly and Senderos: I think it's the case that when Senderos plays, Hughes is shifted to RB thereby ousting Kelly, but the norm is for Hughes to line up alongside Hangeland in the centre with Kelly at RB and Senderos on the bench.

So I've lost Assou-Ekotto and Cahill in the space of a day.
Suggestions as to how I best strengthen by back line in light of the double gameweek?

Don't part with either...bring in Walker if you want Spurs cover, bring in Bosingwa if you want Chelsea cover, or preferably Terry if you can afford him. I'm keeping RVP...It seems like your transfer would be better spent in the back, but get in Cisse or the popular Jelly for Rooney if you must.

    Hi lads.

OK, I've seen lots of speculation on what the back line for Chelsea will be in the DGW. From what I've seen and heard, there is no way Cahill will be fit for either while Luiz could make 1 at a push (but wasn't on the bench for Barca. So I reckon they'll be the following:

    - VS QPR:
    Bosingwa Ferreira Terry Cole

This assumes Luiz and Cahill are injured. Obviously Essien / Mikel could play ahead of Ferriera.

    - VS NEW:
    Bosingwa Ivanovic Terry Bertrand

This assumes Luiz are injured. It also allows rest time for Cole beofre the FA Cup final (likely imo). If Luiz were to be back, Ivanovic would presumably shift to RB with Bosingwa dropped.

And then of course there's the issue that of these, only Terry will still start in the rest of the games. And how likely are Chelsea to keep CSs with those defences? I'm not sure Chelsea defence investment is a great idea. Interested to see what you lads think.

Quite possible Essien or Mikel may play CB at some point. I think Bertrand will play QPR rather than Newcastle but other than that I'd say you are right.
What are your thoughts on how the front 6 will line-up for both games?

Even harder to call isn't it ...

Well I can see Ramires, Meireles, Lampard, Drogba and Mata only starting 1. So that means Kalou, Torres, Essien, Mikel, Malouda and Sturridge will all play at least 1 imo.

        Maybe ...

        Meireles, Mikel, Essien
        Ramires, Torres, Kalou

        and

        Lampard, Romeu, Essien
        Sturridge, Drogba, Mata

        That is complete guesswork though.

Yeah it's bloody hard to call.
ElNino suggested perhaps 4-2-3-1 in the first game and 4-3-3 in the second.

I can't see Essien playing twice and I do think Malouda will start once. I wouldn't be shocked if Drogba was benched for both and then played both games vs. Liverpool either.

That is true. Forgot to include Malouda in the end! Maybe Malouda in for Essien V QPR, and a more attacking formation, ElNino may have got it spot on. And yeah you could be right about Drogba V Torres too.

Personally I'm not going near Chelsea mids / attack. I was interested in defence but may just stick with Verm+4, events on Tuesday have swayed me against Chelsea.

I agree with most of that. But I am hearing Luiz will make it for the QPR game? No official word yet, just the rumours.

I really wanna go for Terry this DGW. Have a good feeling too.

Guys, can I have some sorely needed help please..this ameweek is killing me.

    Current team:

    Schwartzer
    Simpson, Verm, Turner
    Dempsey, Siggy, Bale, Pienaar
    Cisse (v), Jelavic (c), RVP

    (Vorm) (RTaylor, Valencia, Evans)

    q. Is RTaylor likely to start? Or is it worth my putting him in for Turner?
    q. I have taken a four point hit, do I need any one else eg Terry?
    q. is there anything else obvious I should be doing?

I have taken a -4 hit, and have £8m in cash.

It all depends on where you're at in your leagues, but I would advise against any change with that squad. If anything I'd just bring in Terry for Verm...

You have 3. Plus 6ft = 9 All you need is two 2pt hits 🙂 With the additional funds you can make great teams as well. This my current draft:

      Neuer
      Lahm Boateng Cashley
      Robben Lampard Ribery Mata
      Gomez Drogba(C) Muller

    VDV or Bale?

One competitor has Bale. A second has neither - if he gets one I'll suspect he'll go for Bale too so VDV could be a differential. However, he could be subbed early and get 4 points...if so, mini league is lost
