It’s here. After ten gruelling stages, we’re down to the final two participants of the Paddy Power Cup VI. Gameweek 37 saw our final four lock horns in the Semi-Finals. Here’s how they played out…

1. Optimus 45 – 69 mch

Both Optimus and mch nailed the captaincy for Gameweek 37, with the irrepressible Robin van Persie delivering the goods once again. The difference ultimately was mch’s relegation-threatened players proving they still had some fight left in them. A double Queens Park Rangers clean sheet, along with a bundle of points courtesy Martin Petrov puts him in the Grand Final.

2. DrD 53 – 49 ajay_kl

Joining mch is DrD after his razor-thin four-point victory over ajay_kl. Again, both Fantasy managers backed the Dutchmen with their captaincy, but what separated them was just the odd point here and there. An extra save point, a midfielder clean sheet, and Wayne Rooney’s assist was the difference.

So, the Gameweek 38 fixtures are as follows…

      Get Srna out. He's a reverse Oop apparently. Fabregas wont start. Hummels should be nailed on, but I'd go for Badstuber for a safer picl. Looks great otherwise.

        Srna sometimes plays RB but I always thought for the national team Corluka played there and Srna in front of him...plus he's on set pieces and has a decent international scoring record.

        Agreed that Cesc is risky... Have a feeling he'll see more than enough gametime, especially with Villa out, Spain seem short of goalscorers.

        Plus from the BBC

        Croatia's captain Darijo Srna has been a regular on the right flank for almost a decade, and is probably their second best player behind Modric. Mainly used by Shakhtar Donetsk as an attacking right-back, he was deployed on the right wing by Slaven Bilic during the latter stages of Croatia's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

        Srna has an excellent goalscoring record, and was on the scoresheet at both the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008.

    Sagna, Assou-Ekotto and most probably Evans out. Available defenders are McAuley (vs ARS) and Hibbert (vs NEW).

    - What’s the best option:
    A) Use FT on a defender? (Which means captaining VdV/Mata)
    B) Play two defenders and use FT on an attacker? (Probably Rooney -> Aguero(c) )
    C) Combine A+B for a hit? (defender + Aguero(c) )

          I think Rooney still has a chance to be scoring big this gw. Manutd needs to score a lot of goals, and he will be essential for that to happen. Tevez provides your City cover, and RVP is a must have!

          If youre rival has the same strikers, than i would sell Roo and go for Aguero as a differential.

          I first looked at selling Dempsey to fund the transfer, but imo just do straight swaps with Sagna-->Terry/Ivan/Clichy/Kompany.

          And Rooney-->Aguero.

            I had a think about Dempsey too, but decide to keep him against Spurs' make-shift defense.

            I'm benching Pilkington as Lambert is just too darn unpredictable, which I've learnt to my peril with both Pilkington (now) and Hoolahan (at the start of the season).

            Very pleased with my rank! 🙂

            Oh, can just do Sagna -> Terry / Rooney -> Aguero at the moment. Will have to watch the price if I want to take that option.

                Dyer's been good the last two home games. As such it's boils down to the question of which Liverpool team you'll think turn up?

                I'd stay away from Hoolahan just because of rotation risk.
                A bit much doubling up on Wigan players for a "nothing game"?
                Scholes is a decent shout. He's a goal threat and they need to score. (Though I highly doubt they'll be chasing a 0-9 result.)

      It's worth it!
      I've them both.
      Toin coss between Val and Siggy. Val has something to play for and need to score lots of goals, while Siggy's on set pieces.

    Only problem is that in true online BBC fashion you have to scout around the houses to get to them.

    Here's Germany's ....the others are all there on the crappy BBC site somewhere. Great content...shame the site has been designed by a three year old blind ape with no hands or brain.

        its such a shame about the layout as I've had a look through some of the profiles and they are really spot on about form players, likely line ups and who is on penalties.

        Made me feel a whole lot better about picking Kadlec and Srna. K Popodou...thingy (insert that name Dot Cotton says when she can't pronounce Mr Opadopalos the laundrette owner) looks a good pick too. Chance of a goal...well as good a chance as any of the Greece team.
