It’s here. After ten gruelling stages, we’re down to the final two participants of the Paddy Power Cup VI. Gameweek 37 saw our final four lock horns in the Semi-Finals. Here’s how they played out…

1. Optimus 45 – 69 mch

Both Optimus and mch nailed the captaincy for Gameweek 37, with the irrepressible Robin van Persie delivering the goods once again. The difference ultimately was mch’s relegation-threatened players proving they still had some fight left in them. A double Queens Park Rangers clean sheet, along with a bundle of points courtesy Martin Petrov puts him in the Grand Final.

2. DrD 53 – 49 ajay_kl

Joining mch is DrD after his razor-thin four-point victory over ajay_kl. Again, both Fantasy managers backed the Dutchmen with their captaincy, but what separated them was just the odd point here and there. An extra save point, a midfielder clean sheet, and Wayne Rooney’s assist was the difference.

So, the Gameweek 38 fixtures are as follows…

    (I posted this at the bottom of the last page)

    Right, I could really do with some opinions if you guys don’t mind.

    I’m basically level on points with one guy, and we’re both about 13 points behind the ML leader. (I really wanna win, these guys are my good freinds and have been playing a while where as this is my first year)

    Leader has Aguero, Rooney, Cisse

    Other rival has RVP, Ade, Suarez

    I have Jelly, Ade, Cisse

    The rest of our teams are very different to each other as well, except we all have Dempsey and Siggy.

    So, I only have 1 FT and am planning Cisse –> Torres/ Tevez/ Aguero/ RVP, who would you guys get?

    Would you consider paying 4 points (putting me 17 off leader and 4 off other rival) to swap Dempsey –> Ramires/ Yaya/ Silva?

    Any thoughts would be most welcome 🙂

        I think it's quite a complex read, many different factors. Might be putting people off.

        I think your lack of City striker is your biggest problem. Everton are solid at home so do Cisse > Aguero.

        I wouldn't take a hit for any of those suggestions but you probably need to take a risk to win so Dempsey > Nasri could pay off, if City go nuclear on QPR.

          ML leader has Aguero though, I think he'll be captaining him too. It does seem the safest bet to get Aguero and hope the rest of my team beats his by 12, but I don't think they would. I think I have to risk it all and not have city coverage, or get Tevez/ City Mid. (Once i read that post back to myself, I thought I probably won't get a good response, so thanks for the advice :))

      Pff, tricky, I'd probably go for Torres or Tevez as the differential and not take a hit. If pushed, Torres. Best of luck!

        Thats what I'm thinking too, not had a Chelsea player all year + one of my rivals had him for ages at the start of the year (and kept telling us all he is about to be awesome again) it would be great to win it with Torres (c) on the last day of the season 🙂 Thanks for the advice.

      Interestingly enough (to me, anyway) PP seem to think Rooney has a better chance of scoring than RVP - I would have thought the opposite. But I also disagreed with PP last week when they had RVP shorter odds to score than Rooney - and I was wrong then.

            Consensus seems to be that bench warmers are not a good idea in this game because of the way you can make subs during the matchday - i.e. you can sub out a player who scored 2 points for one who hasn't played yet.

            So it's better to have 2 mid-price players who can both score than 1 expensive and 1 non-player.

            Sorry, I thought you were only asking for Mids. In defence I agree with Kostja, a Russian is good, probably Zhirkov. Also M. Kadlec for Cze looks a good prospect as he takes pens. I will have a French defender, I could see them not conceding against Eng, Swe, and Ukr. Up front I'm thinking that Polish dude, Lewandowski, Huntelaar, Robben (RVP & Ronaldo are too expensive IMO) Ibrahimovic, Shevchenko

      Whoever are the main strikers for Germany and Holland- Probably Gomez and RVP( but I think RVP could be on the wing with Hunt in the middle) I guess well see during the friendlies. Also Id like a Russian defender or a goalkeeper.

      Not many Must-haves that I can see.

      At the expensive end: Ozil(GER) was mega in the world cup and Huntelaar(NED) is way out ahead as the overall top scorer in qualifying. A lot of people want Iniesta(ESP)

      Cheaper options: Ibrahimovic(SWE) is very decent as is Robben(NED). M.Kadlec(CZE), Zhirkov (RUS), K.Papadopolous(GRE) are all quite attacking defenders.

      Think Given is an absolute bargain at 4.5. Great chances of clean sheets and gives ya so many other options to play with. Thing for me is to have a good (C) pick for each day.

      Basically looking to lose either dempsey or valencia with the view to bringing in moses/maloney. Valencia > Maloney looking better transfer and was set to bench dempsey but now I'm not so sure. Wish I didn't own mata, would make things so much easier!!

          I think wigan will score a couple vs wolves. They're in form and aren't gonna want to let up last game, not like they've had an abundance of wins.       depends who your rival has, if he has rooney i would be tempted to get rid and bring in a differential, like Tevez, likewise rvp, get rid if he has him. You need to gamble. Maybe consider Torres too

          I think your front 3 are as good as any, especially since your wildcarding for matchday 2 so wouldn't change that. Zhirkov is a good shout, Russia are quite tight. Don't really see anyone there that you shouldnt have tbh. Maybe Srna over Modric for the pens.

      Would start Tzorvas over Given, Kadlec has a horrible first fixture so id keep him out. Dutch arent a good defensive side and Boulahrouz is not nailed on. Rosicky same as Kadlec( playing one of the most defensive sides in the euros). Robben is reverse OOP IMO, but still could be decent.
      Id cheapen up Boularouz and Kadlec and get Gomez or RVP/Hunterlaar over Robben

        Robben plays as a forward so isn't reverse OOP, NL will always play 3 up. They also aren't that bad a side defensively

    Hello good folk. My last question possibly of this campaign to you all.. Trailing my ML by 30 points. So I've pretty much lost it already sadly.

    Should I do

    A) Cisse > Aguero (c)
    B) A + Dempsey > Silva (-4) and play him over Valencia

    My differentials: Cech. Vermaelen. Mata. Valencia. Rooney.
    His diferentials: Schwarzer. Williamson. Bale. Sigurdsson. RVP (and I don't think he has Aguero..YET).

      Cech wont play, Mata may also be rested.
      Personally think RVP will outscore Aguero, Everton will probs score against Newc so he will lose a cleanie there.
      Rooney and Valencia good to have. Go with A.

          Yeah I saw a link on here last week, whereby Di Matteo said Cech wont play last 2 games, Hilario was rumoured to start last week, will probably get his chance on Sunday.

              I'd ditch your moral stance as a United fan and get Aguero in. As a United fan I had the same policy over the past few seasons - no city, no scouse or scrotes like Suarez/Cashley/Terry. This season I have embraced all and sundry into my team and the results have been pretty good to say the least. Match your rival's captain and make up the points elsewhere.
