zøphar Blank Gameweek 18 is just around the corner, and I wanted to use this opportunity to present some picks I feel should be part of your squad if you are opting to use the Free Hit.
At the time of writing, there was a lot of uncertainty looming around Spurs so, for the purpose of this piece I steered clear of the two clubs.
After all, the best way to maximise a Free Hit squad is to base as much as you can on things you are certain about.

DDG + Reguilon over Lloris + AWB. But yeah it's pretty good I guess. Although I don't know why people don't like Lacazette this week. He's very comfortably in my team and going nowhere.
It's tough fitting him in unless you have very high TV or prepared to sacrifice Rashford.
I would be all over DDG Reguilon if we knew Reg was gonna start!?
I'd like Laca but Saka outscoring him for less and Lacas ceiling is fairly low compared to Rashford.

How many points is an average good Free Hit worth? As in, how many hits could one take to avoid using it in BGW18 and expect a positive outcome?
This is the question.
I have 6 players, maybe 7 (Kilman).
On free hit id keep 5 and bring in 6 plus have bench. Conservatively I’d hope to get 25 points plus from those 6. Hopefully more like 35-40.
I’d love to see some stats on average free hits.
Would stats help? Maybe. But this time around is rather different with 4 strong attacking teams to face weak-ish defence so that 20-30 pts margin would potentially be real.
Average or good?
Maybe 3 point per player on average, so I'd probably say 15-20 points would be a reasonable return. Even during a DGW, given rotation, injury and now COVID, I wouldn't expect much more than that.
A Free Hit in a game-week where you would otherwise be unable to field a full eleven players without hits should always produce a positive result.
So the questions you should really be asking yourself are whether there are likely to be any other Gameweeks in which it might be even more difficult to field a full team without taking hits or compromising your squad for preceding and subsequent Gameweeks, and whether or not you might be able to gain even more by playing it in a DGW to bring in additional players who have two matches that Gameweek.
