Scoutcast Episode 362 – Who are the best De Bruyne and Vardy replacements?

Joe and Seb are joined by Karam to look at the key issues facing Fantasy Premier League managers ahead of Gameweek 20.

After a Blank then Double Gameweek in quick succession, FPL managers can look forward to a ‘normal’ set of fixtures this time around.

But FPL is rarely easy this campaign, in which Covid and increasing scheduling problems have wreaked havoc across top-flight football.

A chief concern is injuries to some of the most well owned and reliable players, with both Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) and Leicester talisman Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) sidelined for weeks.

Our Scoutcast trio look in detail at the best replacements for both, with a wealth of options to suit all budgets. Are Tottenham’s Harry Kane (£11.2m) and Son Heung-min (£9.7m) the obvious targets for those who are currently without this magnificent attacking duo? Or are there cheaper, emerging options to consider instead?

Liverpool’s recent poor form is also under scrutiny. Is Mohammed Salah (£12.5m), who is excelling in the Cup but not the League, worth keeping amidst the upcoming mixed set of games?

Elsewhere, there are some excellent FPL teams showcased in the Scoutcast’s rough with the smooth round up of Gameweek 19, fixtures are frisked and Seb takes his turn to select a differential.

Finally, this latest episode signs off with our three Scoutcasters revealing their transfer plans and captaincy decisions.

Anybody staying clear of Gundogan? Seems like the most obvious Kdb replacement but it feels like a big troll as there have been a lot of derailed bandwagons before him

I went with Sterling... still not convinced on Gundo and with KDB out he could play deeper.

Why would he play deeper? Surely he will be more attacking if anything. KDB isn't that defensive. Pep actually said that Bernardo had to work defensively to cover spaces left by KDB

He’s not a KDB replacement in the team is he. Foden or other will replace KDB directly and Gundo will move a little deeper is what I read.

I assume Gundogan will keep the same role. As KDB isnt that defensive, I can't see how Gundogan will be more defensive without KDB

Kdb does stay back sometimes when gundo goes forward, if Kdb does get replaced by Foden or Bernardo in that position they won’t track back as much as Kdb would have, so therefore Gundo would have to stay a little back to cover for that

Definitely share your concerns, but I caved in - value, fixtures and form simply too good to overlook. What concerns me the most is that I might have to use valuable FT to transfer him out ahead of dgw26

      1. Tshelby

Yeah that's also my concern. It's a great time to get him in but he will definitely will need to get out of the team and that could be a waste of transfer

    Bit of advice welcome.

Backline is Robbo, Justin, Dias (Zouma, Coufal)

1FT and was going to hold to downgrade Robbo next week to a benchwarmer and spend excess on Soucek or Raphina to Grealish

But the City defence double up is tempting.

    (A) Robbo or (B) Zouma to Cancelo? or (C) Hold?

Wait for Ole press conference later - Rashford might be ok. Or only miss one (in which case hit could be poor choice).

Cavani played full 90 last two, I suspect he'll get rested ready for Arsenal a the weekend and Martial in poor form so not really a fan of B

Yes that's right, for example Grealish needs to avoid a YC for two more games
