What impact will Jonny’s injury have on Wolves clean sheet potential?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are having second thoughts about purchasing Wolves players ahead of the Gameweek 31 swing of fixtures.

Players such as Conor Coady (£4.8m) and Romain Saïss (£4.9m) have appealed strongly in the build-up to second-Wildcard season, especially with the obvious set-piece threat, but recent developments may have damaged their all-important clean sheet potential.

Defensive resilience seemed to have returned to the club with the reintroduction of Jonny Otto (£5.4m) in early February after a six month absence with a serious knee problem.

However, a hugely unfortunate reoccurrence of that injury in training raises the question, especially after Monday night’s slump at home to West Ham, of whether Wolves’ defensive assets can still be trusted for the FPL run in.

In this article, we shall use data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area to answer that question.

Hello. Looking for some advice please. Dont really like this weeks team.
Would you WC the below team or would you wait until GW33. Planning to use TC chip in 32. Still 1 transfer to use.

    Martinez
    AWB Cancelo Stones
    Raphina Gundo (C) Bruno Son
    Kane Bamford DCL

    Konsa Coufal ESR

I think barring any injuries my WC is done, it's a light bench but I'm prepared to take the risk for this 11 (of which only Rudiger, Jota & Nacho aren't 100% nailed, and I think I'd have to be unlucky to have two no-shows in the same week). In GW33 I'll probably switch Son to Grealish/Maddi or risk it with ESR/Bissouma.

    Mendy
    TAA Shaw Rudiger
    Salah Bruno Son Jota
    Kane Vardy Nacho

Forster Coufal ESR* Mitchell 0.1 ITB

    * could be Bissouma if price changes go in my favour

After taking around half a dozen hits last season and finishing 13k I experimented this time by going super-aggressive to build TV.

      27 hits later:

      695K!

So I really have to make it count now to scrape a respectable rank. Still, with this 11 and FH TC intact, the run-in should be fun!

Liverpool just look depleted of all energy, its like a wet towel having the last drops squeezed out! this is Liverpool it's like every last drop of energy was given in winning that title and they have not looked the same since.

      B for me...
I think City assets are less attractive now because of blanks & huge rotation risks.....
You will always need a strong bench to help you out every GW.... this will diminish your chance of having a better starting XI.

It's crazy the same variation of 20 or so players being mentioned on every WC draft. Same old story.

This site really needs a RMT section with ability to drop in your team and people actually rate it.

Not many punting on City, Laca, Auba, Rashford, Greenwood. Seen zero Grealish drafts, a player who could easily come storming back into the template. No Leicester defenders. Very little Neto. Chelsea attackers probably being overlooked. DCL could finish strongly. Ings is another who may have already hit a purple patch.

Seems ditching Leeds/Villa is the flavour of the month.

        • 14 Years
        2 years, 11 months ago

Yep currently ranked 58K OR after dropping last 3 weeks from 28K, but I'm seeing a huge opportunity here on WC to make great gains by going against the grain. Obvously obvious picks like Kane/Salah/Bruno/Vardy etc are no brainers but I think avoiding the likes of Jota/Lingard/Nacho that I'm seeing in EVERY team could prove beneficial.

        1. Vazza
          • 3 Years

Nacho is a huge trap in my opinion.

Re Jota, not sure whether he will play 90 mins this weekend with the big CL game a few days after. He won’t score a brace from the bench every week that is for sure.

Re Lingard, he has some tough fixtures coming up and with Antonio’s absence - not sure he can keep up the good form.

So these are the areas you should go for differentials and make up some ground

        2 years, 11 months ago

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I'm aware it's a template, that was the gist of my post.

Plenty of rotation risks in the template - Jota, Nacho, etc... Lingard is hugely overperforming.

You just seemed surprised to me, even after 11 years on here 😀 You've just mentioned three cheap players who can't stop scoring at the moment. They play for three of the best teams. When on form players tend to overperform, it's great!

Now you can try to be clever and get other players instead, but the sensible thing is to wait until form drops for one of the obvious picks.

well, as long as city are in europe, there's gonna be massive rotation, so 1 city is enough, or at most 2.
Arsenal's form is far too inconsistent for me personally, Auba is woefully out of form, lacazette isn't really nailed, agree with greenwood, with martial rued out, he can be a good differential, chelsea doesn't have attackers, only mount is worth considering, he's always involved, but don't see chelsea scoring plenty of goals, agree with DCL, i'd love to get ings, but rather see him get a run of games first, wolves are practivcally on the beach, nothing much to play for, can consider neto, but a very meh pick considering he won't haul as wolves don't score plenty. agreed regarding grealish too, but even his manager does not know when he will be fit to start.
Leeds are being sold, because defensively they will concede & bamford just seems a bit less involved, specially against the Big 6. i'd hold to raphinha, but jota is an exciting differential, because pool will need to score atleast 2 goals to win a game & jota is likely to be involved.
so, there, that's it. do let me know if i've missed out on any other olayer who was on your mind.

Both Man City and Liverpool need to perform in the second leg.

So in 3 days time they've got to rest their strongest players for the return Champions League games 4 days later.

So Gundo to Jota would be a pointless transfer this week?

think for pool, salah should play, as pool need to get in top 4 too, so maybe jota is benched, but TAA, robbo, salah, fabinho, this core should start both games.

It’s a full 3 days rest, not a short turn around

You could look at this another way

Liverpool know now they could be heading out making top 4 absolutely essential and villa game a must win

With travel for Liverpool then Mab City it's a tight turnaround.

Man City certainly utilise the squad team v Leeds United.

City 100%, so many options, I’ll start cancelo and gundo but fully expecting they could be benched

    Guten Morgen fine people!

Today, when Chilwell starts, is the day Alonso becomes a template pick for WC.

If Alonso doesn't start, it will sway me to go Philips instead of TAA and bring in Alonso

Going forward with no City is a no-brainer for me. Too much rotation and importance in UCL/ other cup comps

I currently only have Martinez as a playing goalie and still have my BB.
I'm torn between Mendy and Patricio for that 2nd spot. Mendy is the obvious choice but wolves next 4 fixtures are beautiful, what are your thoughts?

Have you looked at a cheaper option in Forster or Sanchez for BB? Not sure when you plan to BB

I have, and decided that due to Villa also having a tough run of fixtures it would be best to get a goalie with good ones. Brighton have horrible fixtures and I'm still not 100% that Forster will start every match.

Two expensive GKs is not very popular, would go Forster for second keeper or Sanchez at a push

It's the difference of less than 1 mil so not a huge issue. Forster still not 100% to start every match in my eyes, and I'm looking for a goalie that i can alternate as necessary so that writes sanchez off with thier run.

post my transfers, i'm in an unenviable position of deciding whether to start Raphinha or Vydra this GW, Burnley with the easier fixture against Newcastle, but if leeds do get something against city, raphinha will be definitely involved. thoughts?

Best forward option under 5.7m for 3 gws? Vydra?

I think I would prefer to go Davis at 4.2 for the 3rd spot. Obviously team dependent

    Hey guys,
    Thoughts on this WC?

1.0M in the bank for Jesus to Vardy next week...

    Leno
    Rudiger Coady Holding
    Salah Bruno Son Jota Neto
    Kane Jesus

    Forster | Phillips Veltman Davis

    Cheers !

I think Nacho is nailed until 35/36 when Barnes is back. Still don't rate Wolves defence even though they have decent fixtures. Utd have played out 0-0 draws against tough opponents and Shaw has attacking potential
