Despite no matches for Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester City, Fantasy Premier League managers have a range of choices for the Blank Gameweek 33 captaincy.

After only coming off the bench against Leeds, Mohamed Salah (£12.6m) looks set to start against Newcastle and comes into the latest round of fixtures with heavy backing.

However, Leicester City duo Kelechi Iheanacho (£6.1m) and Jamie Vardy (£10.2m) strengthened the case for their inclusion in the captaincy debate with their impressive Thursday-night performances against West Bromwich Albion.

As Leicester City face an obliging Crystal Palace defence on Monday, both Vardy and Iheanacho could be among the goals once again.

And we must not forget the already-relegated Sheffield United could be the perfect opposition for Brighton’s attackers to offer themselves as viable alternative Blank Gameweek 33 captains. That’s before we even talk about Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m) and his Sunday afternoon meeting with Leeds.

As always, the Captain Sensible article is here to help you with this week’s armband conundrum. As this includes extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

It comes as little surprise that Salah dominates this week’s poll, with the highly-owned Egyptian international gathering nearly 50.0% of total votes so far.

We have a new face in second place: Leicester striker Iheanacho. It is a great testament to the Nigerian striker’s great recent form, as he is considered a better choice this week than premium midfielder Fernandes according to 13.8% of our users. Meanwhile, the Portuguese international sits in third place with 7.2% of total votes so far.

The top-five list is closed by the in-form Trent Alexander-Arnold (7.1%), followed by Leicester’s iconic forward Vardy (4.3%).

I feel I should put myself out of the misery of missing his hauls every week. Especially after taking him out of my WC to fit in Sterling a few weeks back (sums up my season).

Ah that's a tough one. I captained Sterling back in WC 31 which was painful but got in Lingard alongside him. What are you leaning towards? Thoughts on the below?

I've just got Lingard in (I'll call this a mental health move!)

I think I'd play Alonso from the below. He could still do well this week.

Really appreciate an answer here. If you were me, I have Kane and Son on the bench (Much money attached to them), would you keep both on WC? Currently on Greenwoood and Kane, but thinking about Fernandes and Watkins. But if Kane is fit I need him for the next game

I'm not on a wildcard but I do have two free transfers and I'm thinking of not using them and keeping Kane and Son. Money invested in them is a factor for me as I prob couldn't afford to get them back if I was to sell them

Due to Phillips injury, I'm forced to take a hit to field 11 this week (leading by 6 pts in ml, so all to play for). I'm using my FT to bring in TAA as he's been costing me points recently. (Stones -> TAA is that move, while holding Phillips)

In order to field a full 11, the options and logic are as follows:

    A. An injured Kane to a somewhat on-form Vardy with good fixtures (also have Nacho). If deemed fit, I'll more than likely want Kane back, but it could be worse.
    B. Son to Bruno, which makes sense this week, but form & fixtures are not appealing.
    C. The other benched player is Gundo who is my last remaining City asset. With KDB injured I'd like to hold for Palace next week.

Excuse the longish post at this busy hour 🙂

    1. Vjm6891
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 9 months ago

A - If you ant Kane back, you need Vardy to at least assist this week. Highly probable but who knows.

B - Couldn't you do Son to Maddison? Hes got good fixtures coming up and you can keep kane?

C - Is Gundo going to play inbetween 2 Champions league fixtures? I'd doubt it

      1. Vjm6891
        • 5 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

Also, you might have value tied up in either one of those?

        1. Pep bites Kun
          • 9 Years
          4 years, 9 months ago

Thanks for the responses. Good points. I do seem to have a blind spot with Maddison.
There's some value involved, but I'm not too concerned at this stage of the season. It's all about points.

          1. Vjm6891
            • 5 Years

I personally would probably take Gundo out for someone as I don't think he will start next saturday with Cup final, CL, GW34, CL. I'm guessing he is going to start those other 3 games and be rested for GW34?

            1. Pep bites Kun
              • 9 Years
              4 years, 9 months ago

I think you're probably right in your assumption with Gundo, but he is at least fit(for now), but I agree the risk on playing mins in PL. The Kane injury is nagging as he's a lot of money on the bench with a very uncertain injury status hanging over him.

            2. Pep bites Kun
              • 9 Years
              4 years, 9 months ago

Son, I'll bench as he's the least precarious of the 3.

Gundo is difficult to move at his price point & quality, unless I possibly look at Matheus Pereira who has guaranteed mins + everything to play for, but fixtures ain't great.

Kane -> Vardy incurs a likely additional extra transfer

Thanks for the help. Certainly opened my eyes wider. Best of luck for the gw & run-in! 🙂

Doubt Leeds will get a double but their single fixtures are v good after Man U. Villa and Everton will get doubles. Targett offers assists for Villa and is pretty much nailed. Keane would’ve been a good shout for Everton because he offers a good chance of scoring but with Mina back and Keane having a poor previous game, it comes with risk.
