FFS Cup

The winners of our FFS Cup competitions revealed

Triple Gameweek 35 saw the final and third-place play-off of both our FFS Open Cup and FFS Members Cup play out, with £600-worth of prizes up for grabs in total.

The quick turnarounds between Gameweeks 35, 36 and 37 left us short of time but the respite afforded by the longer gap to Gameweek 38 allows to recap what happened in each tourmanent.

FFS OPEN CUP

Genovoze is the latest name on the FFS Open Cup trophy.

He won by a single point in a titanic 133-132 battle with Mince n Tatties, despite the latter playing his Bench Boost.

Genovoze’s captaincy of Bruno Fernandes was one key factor, with his opponent handing the armband to Mohamed Salah.

Mince n Tatties could also point to Ollie Watkins’ red card as a hard-luck story, along with a surprise no-show from Joel Veltman.

The third-place play-off was won by Jambo17, who won 112-106 against FPL Bielsa.

FPL Bielsa actually had fewer blanking players in Gameweek 35 but his non-ownership of Fernandes was pivotal, with Jambo17 making the Manchester United playmaker his skipper.

FFS MEMBERS CUP

The 2020/21 FFS Members Cup champion is Mohd Rodzi, who beat EUG 132-121.

With their two backlines scoring a similar number of points and each manager owning Bruno Fernandes (c), Mohamed Salah, Son Heung-min and Kelechi Iheanacho, Mohd Rodzi’s victory owed much to a Mason Greenwood haul and a more modest seven points from Jamie Vardy.

EUG’s faith in ‘single Gameweeker’ Harry Kane wasn’t rewarded, while James Ward-Prowse also flattered to deceive despite having two fixtures.

The third-place play-off was won by Rossaldinho, who triumphed 122-100 over SUNFLOWER

The latter played their Wildcard but a double-up on the Manchester United defence failed to pay dividends, while Ollie Watkins’ aforementioned dismissal was another FPL gut-punch.

PRIZES

A big well done to all our managers above.

    Guys help me out please!

It's a long shot i know but I'm desperately hanging onto hope lol. I'm 51 points behind in my mini league but I have triple captain to play! Who should i pick, Salah? Also is it worth me going all out nuts and doing like a minus 12 haha

    I'd appreciate any help

    Cheers guys

Salah is probably your best candidate yes. Some "obscure" player will probably get 15pts, but impossible to guess who. So Salah is your best option.

Wouldn't take a big minus, could easily numb any effect your TC would have. Salah definitely one of the best (if not the best) candidates

If you take a -12 then you're 63 points behind so I would try to avoid. Sounds obvious but you need to TC someone your rival doesn't have so no point putting it on Salah if they have him.

Agree with the above. Definitely play it on the best captain option which is Salah. However! If you only care about the ML, I'd bring in Mane and TC him, you'll never make enough points to claw back 50 if they cap salah. It's obviously the best fixture. Another consideration is Bamford. Those are the best 2 fixtures to target. I'd go Mane

Salah is the safer bet, but what about a dark horse like Wood vs SHU?

If you both captain Salah and hauled say 21pts, you only get extra 21pts than your rival.

Is it realistic for your other players to make up 30pts?

Id say captain Mane. Or Antonio? They both are the best to haul no?

Thank you guys! I really appreciate your help and advice. You're all making sense lol

        My team is

        Lloris Sanchez

        TAA Dias Dallas Castagne Saiss

        Salah Greenwood Saka Zaha Foden

        DCL Kane Nacho

Was thinking to do minus 4 for Antonio for Kane and Zaha for Mane?

      To make 51 points gap in a week, you should;
      - TC someone with low ownership (at least not owned by rivals ahead of you), AND
      - expect everybody else's captain to fail (Salah in this case)

I know it is highly unlikely but not impossible. Here is a current example from GW34:
      Bale (EO %1): 21 points
      Kane (EO %180): 2 points

To achieve that you should find this week's Bale (if any). I would look at historically explosive but not in form players like Mane, Sterling, Pulisic, Mahrez (he is in form though)..

What do we all think about Son? Could he get some joy against an attacking Leicester on the break?

Same boat. I've used my FT to bring in Bamford but I'm tempted to oust Son for someone like Torres or Willock. But Leicester have to go for it and will leave some gaps, but then again Villa had 20 shots last night against Spurs with good attacking intent yet Spurs only had 4 shots on target

    A) Targett/Bruno to Dallas/Mane worth -4

    DDG
    TAA, Dias, Stones

    How's this for gw38:

    Meslier
    TAA, Lowton, Dallas
    Salah (c), Mane, Willock, Son
    Kane Antonio Wood

Bench order: (Areola, Coufal, Foden, Ward)

Would you change any of the starting lineup/ bench order? I'm not making any more transfers
I know Bielsa has said Meslier won't play, but I may as well play him and get the bench points, right?

I'm actually pretty surprised to see that Martinez has more points than any defender this year. I don't think we've ever seen a Keeper get close to 200pts before? Definitely part of the BPS change that favoured GKs this year (and last)

No, his best is only 172 points in 2017-18, largely because he only got 10 bonus points (Martinez currently has 27).

      • 14 Years

Does Etheridge for Cardiff hold the record - 180-ish as well?

I think Martinez has nearly 70 points in saves & baps alone, before clean sheets, penalty saves, and appearances

    3. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 14 Years
      2 years, 10 months ago

Think he’ll regress a bit next season though

At a guess I’d say 1 less penalty save, and 10-12 clean sheets (instead of 15)

That’s 20-30 points less to bring him down to 150-160, while his price goes up to 5.5

Villa were blessed at various times to keep the clean sheets they did

      1. Pompel

Yeah no way he matches the same season. All depends if Villa keep grealish, I think he was pretty key to their clean sheets in a roundabout way. Scoring goals first makes it easier to defend a lead.

As for Rudiger/Lowton, it's a tough call. I have a hunch neither team is going to keep a clean sheet, and Rudiger has a better chance of a goal or assist, so.....

The 3 teams playing at home this week who I'd want as many players from would be Liverpool, Leeds and West Ham. I think they will all react well to it, and have decent fixtures as well as something to potentially play for (Leeds will be motivated to finish as high in the table as is possible).

Someone like Bamford could be a nice differential captain if chasing. He frustrates and impresses Leeds fans equally, and it's a relationship that motivates him. Now with a decent PL season under his belt, his confidence will be up and he'll be buzzing to play this game in front of fans.

Digne > Dallas is a good move. I'll wait for Pressers and hopefully get some City confirmations

Think Bruno will be benched, don't fancy DCL (or Digne but can bench him) and have Meslier/Forster GK pair. Any of these looking good?

    a. DCL & Bruno -> Mane & Wood
    b. DCL & Meslier -> Bamford & Alisson (would mean JWP or Digne play if Bruno benched)

    Mendy
    TAA Cresswell Dallas
    Salah Bruno Lingard ASM*
    Kane Wood Bam

    Forster AWB Holding Eze*

    A) Bruno to Mane
    B) Eze to Torres
    C) Eze to Raph/Harrison
    D) Eze to Willock
    E) others

Bruno to Mane then Eze to Foden perhaps

My lead came down from 90p to 29p within the last 3 GWs, so need to protect.

    Mendy (Forster)
    TAA Dallas Rudiger (Godfrey Shaw)
    Salah Son Lingard Mahrez Raphinha
    Kane DCL (Davis) 2.1

    A. Shaw > Robertson
    B. Son, DCL > Mane, Bamford -4
    C. Son, DCL > Mane, Antonio -4
    D. Davis, DCL > Bamford, Antonio -4 (probably bench Mahrez)

Main differences are that rival has Bamford, Antonio and Mane, whom he will most likely give the captain's armband.

B, C or D might be "safe" in the sense that you are taking -4 to limit any increase differential. Not sure how likely a Mahrez start is so got to be D of the three if that's what you want to do.

Can you just do Davis to Bamford or Antonio for free?

Afternoon all. 1FT and 3.6m ITB.

    Meslier
    Coufal - Phillips - Alioski
    Willock(C) - Salah - Raph - Greenwood
    Kane - DCL - Antonio

    (Martinez) - Bale - Shaw - Digne

    A) DCL > Anyone.
    B) Digne > Robbo and bench Coufal.
    C) Bale > Anyone and bench DCL.
    D) Anything else.

A to Wood? Can't do Bamford as you have three Leeds already.

Personally, with Willock going off injured and Greenwood as risk of rest I'd wait until last minute but I think C is perhaps a better move. Bale to Son?

Willing to take multiple hits for maximum fun/points in what has been an awful season.

    Guita Button
    Shaw TAA Dallas Konsa Mitchell
    Bruno Salah Mane Greenwood Raphina
    DCL Bamford Antonio

I'm thinking Leno, Chilwell/Alonso, Havertz, Torres, KDB, Werner, Pepe, Ings are all worth punts on this week.

Dont care how many hits I take. Go for it, what should I do?

Loads of injury concerns reported by managers and FFS twitter.

Could well be rotation central across many teams on Sunday afternoon.

To hit or not to hit is the question?
