People are overthinking it. Vardy won't last forever and ditching your younger in form younger striker makes 0 sense. Brendan will play Nacho while Barnes regains match fitness and evaluate performances.

Granted it's step up into premiership but his 54 goals in 82 league appearances over the last two seasons record is well nice. (no Witch Doctors) 😉
His assist potential would be great too.

hard to imagine him not starting initially. End of last season felt like a purple patch, I don't see it continuing personally. Then you have Barnes coming back in to the mix.

I'll start with Iheanacho, but don't expect him to be a option for long. At least there are other options at that price.

Like Shaq as an interesting option - he looked super good last game and not sure France have figured out their defense.

I'm interested in the Ronaldo / Lukaku double up - can pivot to any other premium from whoever get's knocked out, or downgrade and use the funds elsewhere.

How are non WC’ers playing the RD16 onwards? I think you need to tackle the favourites, Italy/Netherlands and play from there. 3/4 from those is a risk, but the best way forward. Excluding injuries and suspensions, ideally you need 8 in the QF for a full team when you make 3 transfers.

    Donnaruma Stekelenberg
    Bonnuci Spinazolla Dumfreys Kimpembe Maehle
    Yarmolenko Forsberg Wijnaldum Berardi Hoijberg
    Ronaldo Benzema Depay.

I'm trying to avoid 4 players (except for Netherlands - which I'm uncomfortable about).

Also gotta just go with who I think will win to a degree - too much hedging won't be as fun.

Yeah i saw your draft below. I mean Lukaku v Ronaldo is a tough call. You think Sarabia starts?

          • 3 Years

He gave Spain something they had been lacking - so I would hope so. Croatia should be stout - so having creativity in attack is important for Spain.

But him & Berardi I'm worried about of my front 8 - Chiesa looked great and could come in for Berardi.
I wish Italy was first game again to know their lineup.

      Currently on:
      4 X Italy
      3 X Belgium
      2 X Netherlands
      2 X Sweden
which is bulk of team. Belgium going out would kill me on transfers

        • 9 Years

Nice. I think 7/8 from Italy and Netherlands is fair enough. 3x Belgium is brave against Ronny. I’ve split Ukraine and Sweden with Forsberg and Yarmo, so there’s 1 guarantee in the QF 🙂

Should have just posted my team, would have been easier....
          Donnarumma Ramsdale
          Boyata Spinaz Dumfries Porres Danielson
          Gigi KDB Hojberg Berardi Forsberg
          CR7 Immobile Lukaku

Ronaldo is the source of all my problems....would rather have Benzema, and as you say 3 Belgium is a risk.

Going all in on Donnarumma and not picking a second playing GK seems risky to me. You can't find another 0.7 to get up to Bushcan, Stek, or Ward?

Is Taa really that much better than Robbo as an fpl pick?

They more or less scored the same over the season and Robbo gives you an important 0.5 itb

    1. RogDog_jimmy
      • 3 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

Last year I started with both - dropped TAA first, then dropped Robbo, then bought back in TAA....

It seems TAA has the purple patches where he gets his points quick, whereas Robbo is more steady-Eddy.

If you time owning TAA right it'll pay off.

(Don't know that I answer your question...but I think I'm likely not starting with either to be honest).

huh - weird how it "feels" vs the numbers.
i do wonder how actual points played out vs the expected numbers.

              • 4 Years

              per90 again...
              GW1-38 TAA 4.75, Robertson 4.28
              GW19-38 TAA 5.71, Robertson 3.93
*perhaps wrongly, but I give more strength to the second half of the season, hence me quoting it. Think Liverpool started to sort themselves out (a little) defensively... and with VVD/Gomez/Matip?/Konate to come in... if things are settled enough, then this could be matched or even bettered.

                awesome - thanks for this!

i think watching the preseason will be super interesting for me. TAA, Robbo & VVD will all be rested and hopefully fit - so I hope they play them a bit to get a sense if the defense is back to what it was.

    2. Guba
      • 8 Years

Toying with starting with both. TAA significantly better when he hits form, it just depends whether he'll carry it over or not from last season.

    3. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 14 Years

Yeah there was an article going through the detail the other day

The TLDR is TAA really really strongly beats Robbo on almost every underlying stat

The points last season looked like Robbo overachieved & TAA underachieved tbh

      1. Babit1967
        • 7 Years

Fair point I guess also with free kicks and the fact the majority will have Taa, the 0.5 may be worth it then

          • 14 Years
          2 years, 9 months ago

          He’s a scary FPL player

Think his underlying stats are worth the 0.5 over Robbo

The real question might be though - is he worth the 2.0 over Cresswell, Shaw, Digne…

            • 8 Years

It's also hard to change from Robbo to TAA if he starts pumping. Before you know it he's double digit hauled against Norwich and 7.7 by gw2.

It's a nice team, Foden obviously a risk but reasonable first 2 bench option. Seems a shame to miss out on an under-priced Shaw though. Personally I'd change Foden and get Shaw.

Nice, might be a little concerned that your a bit thin on the ground if lamptey is unfit or unselected and foden is benched, white future uncertain, will he be nailed at arsenal? but you’ll have clarity on these things nearer the season 🙂

If arsenal buying white then surely he will be nailed

Foden is the main gamble here. I could downgrade to mount or someone else and look at shaw, Tierney etc

Why would he be nailed? Arsenal have bought a ton of defenders in the last two years, none of whom are nailed.

Precisely. 50m suggests to me to plays every game - and that they intend to build their defence around him

Plus he's proven in the premier league unlike the other defender signings. Doesn't really need an adjustment period.

White is much much better than any defender arsenal have bought since Sol Campbell

      Why Forster over McCarthy?

Is Salah really worth 2.5m more than Son?

    Not for me.

Happily have Bruno and Son as my captains and invest the rest elsewhere.

      Son without Kane?

I'm sure Son scores my points without Kane. He will be main man.

I don’t think so, spurs are horrible atm, no manager, no confidence, no nothing

I can see what you’re saying but I think it’s pretty risky

Going without Salah as your captain in gw1 is hella risky with Norwich, but fair play if it works out. I know from experience last year that going out leaves you with a mountain to climb, that hat trick was brutal.

I was thinking Bruno over Salah in GW1... Have both though.

I went without him for large parts of last season.

Hardly got any assists. Not very good on bonus, needs two returns for bonus points.

He just seemed to be a 7 point merchant last season, I'm not sure 12.5m is buying me elite level of points.

At least with Bruno and pens you know he will return and get the bonus as well.

Sure but this time around he has the best opening fixture and the highest ownership in the game by a significant amount. It can pay of but you just need to be accepting that if he hauls, your rank will be completely trashed. His EO will be way over 100%.

      Son is a beast

If spurs replace Kane even semi-decently Son could go better again than last season - he'd have pens and DFK's to add to the corners

Who is the number 1 target for your last 16 teams?

Thoughts on this? WC still to play.

    Stek / Olsen
    Spinaz / PTorres / Dumfries / Mæhle / Kimp
    Forsberg / Berardi / KDB / Loca / Gini
    CR7 / Benz / Depay

I’m not massively keen on PTorres but not sure where else to look. Could downgrade Olsen to Ward but 0.4 not getting me much. Too much rotation in Spain for me. Loca maybe not nailed on but again - not much at that price apart from maybe Hojberg.

    Any ideas?

    RD16 team;

    Thoughts ?

    Donnarumma
    Spinazzola, Dumfries, Pavard, Kimpembe, Maehl
    KDB, Gini, Forsberg, Berardi, Hamsgaard
    Depay, Immobile, Benzema

    The Front 3 give me a captain the 26th, 27th and 28th.

Rip it apart, feel like I’ve covered the main picks who could hurt rank if not owned:

    Guaita
    Cancelo | Shaw | Coufal | Lamptey
    Salah (C) | Bruno (VC) | Grealish | Raphinha
    Kane | Pukki

    Foster | Bissouma | Davis | Johnson

    Thanks

    Morning all.

The general consensus is that either Bastoni or Acerbi will get that CB position.

    What say thee?

All the suggestions in Italian media are that Acerbi has the place. They apparently played a practice game with Acerbi, Di Lorenzo, Verratti getting the most debated positions, the other eight as expected.
