FPL team reveal: Who I’m replacing Ilkay Gundogan with for Gameweek 6

After five Gameweeks of the 2021/22 campaign, I’m sat with a fairly uninspiring Fantasy Premier League (FPL) rank of 633,801.

Having been positioned around 300k in Gameweek 3, it’s been a challenging couple of weeks for my team.

However, with margins fine (see below) and many FPL managers deploying chips in the opening weeks, focusing on rank at this stage of the season probably isn’t worth it.

Live totals needed for ranks, via Ragabolly’s excellent LiveFPL website

So, ahead of Gameweek 6, here is how I’m currently set-up, armed with one free transfer and £0.9m in the bank.

With a Wildcard pencilled in for Gameweek 8, any moves I make will at most be two-week plays.

That also came into my thinking last week, with an idea to use the ‘Gundogan’ spot as a rotating position that I could have some fun with, focusing on short-term punts before I Wildcard.

That didn’t exactly go to plan in Gameweek 5, as Ilkay Gundogan (£7.3m) and Manchester City underwhelmed, but it’s something I’m going to continue with this week, as the rest of my team looks ‘okay’, providing Raphinha (£6.5m) is fit of course.

So, with a budget of £8.2m, who is on the Watchlist?

I don't tend to put much value in... (wait for it...) value!
Especially not early doors, but just as a litmus test - what's a decent team value to have at this stage in the season?

Value is points return per pound of cost. Team value is the sum total of your players, not the points return.

I think you're on the wrong track of what value means.

        Wow! Tough crowd.
Is our value not truly felt in what we bring to society and what we leave behind after we are gone?
If you really want to be a facetious tw!t about it.

I was just curious to know people's team value is all.
        C'est la vie.

Same back. I thought it was a good response to a good lead line "I don't tend to put much value in... (wait for it...) value!"

Wasn't meant to be 'tough'. I just questioned your understanding of 'value'

It does end up helping down the line though when you can't afford the team you want.

my team is in shambles. what do i do?

    Sa
    TAA, Dier, Duffy
    Salah, Jota, Greenwood, Benrahma
    Antonio, Bamford*, Ronaldo

    Foster, Williams, Gilmour, Amartey

    a. save transfer and go 4-4-2 with williams instead of bamford because i want to take a hit next week to bring in Lukaku somehow.
    b. bamford>ASM and go -8 next week to bring in Lukaku

Not the worst team for this gw. I would save then probablu Bam + Jota > Lukaku + best cheapie possible.

Team is fine for this week. Decent bench cover with decent fixtures. Stick with plan A. Plan B with -8, you'll regret next week

Genuinely interested - why do the vast majority on here seem to think Maupay is such a bad pick?

Good fixtures, 2 goals from approx 1.25 npxg so far, and is on pens (scored one already).

Personally disagree with the fixture perspective - Arsenal Liverpool and Man City in the next 5. Palace away this weekend not the easiest either. Moreover, he has historically been a troll in the community and I believe options like King and Armstrong and even Pukki are better in the same price bracket.

I suppose the fixtures aren’t great when looking over the next 5 because of LIV & MCI but they’re at the end of 3 good to very good ones (Arsenal are still poor in my eyes and that’s exactly the time of game they lose).

        Plus Newcastle (H), Villa (A) & Leeds (H) after.

I think I'm going to take the plunge, Bamford replacements are few and far between. I'd back him to get 45-49 points in the 10 fixtures up to GW 18, benching for GW 9-10.

I think Brighton are the most complete they have ever been under Potter, and should really push on.

    Start one out of these:

    A) James (MCI)
    B) Marcal (sou)
    C) Sissoko (NEW)

Chelsea's 5 defenders who started against Spurs were all rested for EFL Cup so I'm not confident at all James starts against City.

Have Semedo so not sure about starting double Wolves def after last week.

Sissoko a good option against a leaky Newcastle def?

    Evening peeps.

OK to save here? Not ideal with bam bam out but already blown the WC, bench cover isn't too bad and want to save transfers to bring in Chelsea and City assets over the next few weeks. So maybe worth holding Bamford in case he's back soon?

    Begovic,
    James* TAA, Livramento, Shaw, Semedo
    Salah, Raph*, Jota,
    Antonio (c), Ronaldo

    Guaita, Sissoko, Gilmour, Bamford*

if you can field 11 players, Don't take hit in this gw. Lot of People will take hits, so this is an advantage and trust me hits rarely works, unless its hazard, suarez, van persi, ronaldo, salah

you have to take a few things into consideration though, price changes, how long a player is injured for, fixtures swings.. etc

You shouldn't really take a hit for 1 GW if you can field 11 I'd agree, but long-term plans need to be taken into account.

I’m thinking of burning a transfer never mind hits haha. Surprised that most people will be taking hits? Where does that information come from?

        There’s 8 million players.

Hits don't always work for the GW that you make them, but they can pay off medium/long term. It all depends on what those hits are.

A: Ayling > Livra (Orignial plan)
B: Raph > Sarr (Save FT)
C: Raph / Toney > Sarr / Dennis (leaves 1.4 ITB for Ayling to Chelsea def next week)
    D: Any other Ideas

Guess it depends on who will sore more Dennis or Toney. I like the idea of saving transfers with Covid and injuries more of a concern.

    Sanchez
    TAA / Shaw / White
    Grealish / Salah / Jota / Raph
    Toney / Ronny / Antonio

    Steele / Gilmour / Ayling / Goode
