Tierney absent as Tavares, Saka and Lacazette start

Gameweek 9 gets underway in north London this evening as Arsenal play host to Aston Villa.

Kick-off is at 20:00 BST.

Mikel Arteta has made three changes from Gameweek 8, with Alexandre Lacazette (£8.3m), Albert Sambi Lokonga (£4.9m) and Nuno Tavares (£4.3m) replacing Nicolas Pepe (£7.1m), Martin Odegaard (£5.5m) and Kieran Tierney (£4.9m), who misses out due to a bruised ankle.

That means Bukayo Saka (£6.4m) is fit to start despite being taken off injured at half-time on Monday after a heavy challenge.

As for Aston Villa, they are unchanged from their 3-2 defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

Matty Cash (£5.1m) has recovered from a dead leg he sustained during that match, while Leon Bailey (£6.4m) makes the bench after missing the last three Gameweeks with a thigh injury.

    So ref Blows for half time and then pen is given. How is there time for the follow up shot? Surely he has to blow whistle again once shot is taken and reached keeper / goal line!

    He also got Lacazette before he got the ball. Double foul!!
    But the ref shouldn't have given it based on that one replay that it looked like he could see.

      It’s a pen in the current game….but that just tells you more about football just now. Using a system that actively encourages players to play for pens isn’t great is it?

        It encourages defenders not to take players out, so they have to defend within the rules. More likely to see legit goals without having to go to VAR too. Seems your view is a bit cynical imo

          Laca knew he just had to stick his leg between the man and ball and throw himself to the ground - he had no intention of going for the ball. Then it gets slowed down on var to look worse than it was. Seeing more and more of this now and can’t really blame the players. But yes I am cynical!

            His intention was to protect the ball the retain possession. Defenders need to be wary, and can do the exact same thing to keep possession. If you need to be careful to avoid fouling or hurting someone who's jumping in, thn you need to be careful. Late challenges should be punished just like in all other cases!
