Scoutcast: Manchester clubs on the FPL radar ahead of Gameweek 15

Joe, Seb and a different Andy help Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prepare for Gameweek 15.

In this latest episode, usual host Andy North is otherwise engaged, so another Andy, FPL Sonaldo, has kindly stepped off the substitutes bench to fill in.

Manchester City and United players are firmly on the Scoutcast’s radar ahead of a fantastic festive run of fixtures. Pep Guardiola’s troops face Watford, Wolves, Leeds and Newcastle over their next four and the Red Devils take on Crystal Palace, Norwich, Brentford and Brighton.

But while the fixtures are sublime there are question marks over these two teams’ key assets.

Just how will Manchester United’s team set up under the leadership of the godfather of pressing football, Ralf Rangnick?

Meanwhile, rotation and injury worries make it tricky to second guess the Manchester City line-up, particularly among their midfield assets such as Phil Foden (£8.1m) and Ilkay Gundogan (£7.3m).

Our Scoutcast trio discuss these issues and more as they prepare to jettison their Tottenham players, discuss whose fixtures begin to turn soon and look for alternative FPL options.

Mid-price midfielders are also on their Christmas shopping list. Which differential players in this price bracket will excel into the New Year? And which template options will falter?

This show was recorded on December 2 just before the final two matches of Gameweek 14. Cristiano Ronaldo‘s (£12.3m) brace against the Gunners and another blank for Spurs’ Harry Kane (£12.3m) look likely to cement their views on future transfer moves.

Elsewhere, there are fixtures to frisk, captain plans to discuss and an update on the Scoutcast’s community team, during this packed teatime look ahead to Gameweek 15. Next week’s episode will be back to its usual slot, Tuesday at 8pm.

Didn't watch the United game. My friend, who admittedly isn't a great source, said he went off limping. Any truth in this?

    Thanks

    Ramsdale (Foster)
    TAA/James/Cancelo (Livramento/Duffy)
    Salah/Son/Raphinha/Gallagher (Brownhill)
    Vardy/Antonio/Hwang
    2 FT 0.2 ITB

    I don't have Jota and I'm scared!

Do I do Vardy and Brownhill to Dennis and Jota this week (move to playing 3-5-2), or just do Hwang to Dennis and get in Jota for Son next week (and possibly bring in Ronaldo for Vardy too).

I'd use Raph as the sacrificial lamb to get Jota, his fixtures are horrific after this weekend.

They're all shyte and will be your third sub so you're so unlikely to ever get any points from them that you really shouldn't waste your time and energy thinking this over. Go for a playing 4.4, the 0.1 is more useful to you.

I think they're all pretty much useless. Bissouma probably better value at £4.4m.

I have Gilmour but he's not really done anything. It's not a great price point this year.

Posted on an old article oops.

    Rank these for this week?

currently with a & b and can upgrade one of those for free - would have to be Raph > Sancho…Gallagher to any of the rest works though.

    a/ Raphinha (BRE)
    b/ Gallagher (mun)
    c/ Sancho/Rashford (CRY)
    d/ Gundo/Foden/Silva (wat)

To be fair they were saying that before 5 blanks in a row. I still think he's an option, but with concern over both form and managing his minutes in a busy schedule he is far from essential now

I need some help here please....

I'm planning Jimenez to King (looked at Watkins but favour King long term)

Only concern is it leaves my team looking a smidge weak for this GW:

    Ram
    TAA James Cancelo Dias
    Bowen Salah Jota Raph
    Kane King

    Foster Livra Broja Brownhill

After the King move I will still have an FT and 1.9m in the bank (but say 1.7 to accomodate Kane/Ronaldo price swing in case I want to do that next week)

Is it worth using my other FT for anything? Or playing Livra over either Bowen or King? Been looking at Livra>Reguilon, my only concern then is that if next week I decide not to go Ronaldo, and use the Kane money to upgrade in midfield instead, it will cost me a -4 (first of the season)

    Any advice appreciated 🙂

Maybe althe fixtures aren’t best for all your team, but they play, and rotation might bring weird results/odd goals.

If you don’t feel strong about any move I’d not make one. 2ft and cash will open up your options a bunch.

Yeah think Reguilon's 12 points are still so fresh in my mind that they're skewing my thinking. Probably would ultimately give me a benching headache going forward and, as you say, reduces my options next week

        Thanks 🙂

    Save FT?

    Ramsdale
    TAA - Cancelo - James

    Wilson - Armstrong

Taking one fit player out for another fit player would be a low-impact "luxury transfer". I'd try to only make those when you have 2FTs and no injuries.

Which option looks best? Not sure Dennis will get much against City and Raph has one decent game left before fixtures turn

    A - Raph > Gundo
B - Antonio > Dennis (frees up cash)
C - Perica > Dennis (gets rid of non playing bench fodder)
    D - Roll FT

    Sanchez
    TAA - James - Cancelo - Livra

I do think the Armstrong benching is possible this week, he looked tired when he came off and Broja is fresh having not played many minutes recently. But such a risk to punt on Broja ahead of a sure starter - even Livra seems safer 1st sub option
