Fixtures

Double Gameweek 22 confirmed for eight teams

The revised fixture list for Double Gameweek 22 was announced by the Premier League on Thursday morning, with eight top-flight sides playing twice.

Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley, Chelsea, Leicester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford are the clubs who have two fixtures in the upcoming Gameweek.

There is a caveat: this proposed schedule is subject to change should any FA Cup third-round matches involving these teams or their second Double Gameweek 22 opponents be postponed this weekend. In the event of that happening, the outstanding cup ties would be played in this free midweek instead.

GAMEWEEK 22 DOUBLES

  • Brentford: Liverpool (a), Man Utd (h)
  • Brighton: Crystal Palace (h), Chelsea (h)
  • Burnley: Leicester (h), Watford (h)
  • Chelsea: Manchester City (a), Brighton (a)
  • Leicester: Burnley (a), Spurs (h)
  • Man Utd: Aston Villa (a), Brentford (a)
  • Spurs: Arsenal (h), Leicester (a)
  • Watford: Newcastle (a), Burnley (a)

There is a real mixed bag of ‘doubles’ here, with Brentford’s two games unappealing and Chelsea and Spurs having far from straightforward tests.

The best pairings are arguably those of Watford and Burnley, although which players from these two clubs beyond Emmanuel Dennis (£6.1m) and/or Joshua King (£5.8m) represent attractive targets is another question.

Liverpool, West Ham United and even Everton, whose players some of us would have loaded up on ahead of Double Gameweek 21, have very decent ‘single’ Gameweeks, meanwhile, so as ever a balancing act would seem to be the way to go.

DATES AND TIMES OF THE ADDITIONAL FIXTURES

Tuesday 18 January

19:30 Burnley v Watford
20:00 Brighton v Chelsea

Wednesday 19 January

19:30 Leicester v Spurs
20:00 Brentford v Man Utd

On the other hand, I would probably need just someone from Brighton, Lei mid, Dennis...is it worth it?

Still there is risk that some DGW22 teams won't have double if they don't win the FA cup matches. So wait and see untill all matches are played.

winning or losing makes no difference since there are no replays. It’s whether the fa cup match actually goes ahead in the first place that matters

Broja to Dennis and/or Coufal to Reguillon depending on how much spare cash you have?

I'm in a similar boat having Antonio, Bowen, Gray, Jota all with potentially lovely single fixtures

I'm a bit disappointed it's not the bumper DGW hoped for, but it could be a good thing in the long run. Reckon many will FH, and many of those will be using their second FH

Holding both those chips for later is going to be worth it I think

Of course, unless any games are postponed due to Covid or FA Cup

Depends how many transfers you have and who your sgw players are. Are you saying that on a free hit, you’re not going to have Liverpool, Man City or West Ham players, that could easily outscore DGW players?

I only have 4 too but I can't see how a FH would help me. BB is now out of the question.

Sanch, Regi, Son, CR, plus 2x Everton, 2x WHU, 2x Liverpool is already 10 men.

Those DGWers aren't too appealing, besides a Watford forward.

Quite happy to use a FH as it also gives me a chance to FH out triple City away at Chelsea, feels a good opportunity for those of us with 2x FH left...

I think the fact that the interesting discussion on the previous article has now been curtailed owing to a new one being posted demonstrates why the site would benefit from a forum.

It would lead to proper discussions which would remain on topic rather being drowned in a sea of RMT posts and you could go away and come back later, instead of desperately trying to make your point before a new article or page of comments appeared. It seems odd to me that for all the talk of a "community", FFS has never seen the need to introduce a platform where people can actually talk to each other properly.

If that's the case - and I suspected it might be but I'm no expert on these things - then it goes hand in hand with the gambling advertising to suggest FFS doesn't care as much about its so-called community as it likes to suggest.

I don't like the gambling ads. But this kind of constantly respawning comment culture is fairly unique and is why I think people like it? If you want a forum etc that could also be good but a different beast. And reddit kind of covers this already. Someone could set up a dedicated FFS subreddit, etc

Also instead of the number of years someone has been a member, but how many kudos they receive from other members by being active in the community. I'm always gobsmacked when someone 'playing' for 7 years asks about how much profit they'll receive from selling a player.

    Relatively meh fixtures, ain't they?

    DDG*
    TAA Alonso* Regulion*
    Son* Maddison* Jota Bowen
    Ronaldo* Antonio King*

    Steele* Gray Cancelo Livramento

    *have a DGW fixture.

Worth FH-ing out of that? Don't love the defense but two double at least. Might play Gray ahead of Bowen perhaps.

At first glance it looks like you’ve chosen most of the players with highest ownership so depends on your existing team.

I’m not sure besides gw30 there will be a better time to play the FH and there’s nearly always some hidden gems that score well (Lanzini)

Just my take on it but it looks a bit of an underwhelming DGW to me - there's not a team other than Watford who have two great fixtures and Watford are terrible.

Given that there's something like 15 other fixtures that need rearranging plus whatever results from the EFL Cup and FA Cup latter stages, I think I would rather keep my free hit for later on.

I've got five - two Chelsea, two Watford and Son.

I think I might do Salah to Maddison and Guiata to Lloris for -4 and leave it there. Not sure who to captain! Possibly Maddison.

I think ending up with 7 DGW players is absolutely fine. For me, even a -4 would only get me to 4 that are actually likely to play, assuming Foster is still injured/not automatically back in the team. Plenty of time to mull it over though, will wait for the FA cup games to play out and see how things are looking next week.

    Brentford: Liverpool (a), Man Utd (h) -- That's a no go
Brighton: Crystal Palace (h), Chelsea (h) -- Trossard, Lamptey, Maupay
Burnley: Leicester (h), Watford (h) -- Wood, Lowton (might be a stretch as they probably will conceded both matches)
Chelsea: Manchester City (a), Brighton (a) -- Havertz, Mount, Lukaku, Alonso (might be a stretch as they probably will conceded both matches)
Leicester: Burnley (a), Spurs (h) -- Maddison, Thomas (might be a stretch as they probably will conceded both matches)
Man Utd: Aston Villa (a), Brentford (a) -- CR7, DDG (might be a stretch as they probably will conceded both matches)
Spurs: Arsenal (h), Leicester (a) -- Son,Kane, Regi/Royal (might be a stretch as they probably will conceded both matches)
Watford: Newcastle (a), Burnley (a) -- King, Dennis, Foster/Bachmann (might be a stretch as they probably will conceded both matches)

In all, don't see a FH being viable for a pretty meh DGW. 6/7 DGWers with hits better off as SGW players look in form and with better fixtures.

Were people expecting more than 8 teams to have a dgw?
Have you changed your mind from using whatever chip you planned?
With a mix of good and poor teams I think it’s a great opportunity to put together a high scoring gameweek assuming there’s no further postponements from fa cup

    Best option

    A) Dennis + Tielemans

    B) King + Maddison
