Scoutcast: FPL Double Gameweek 22 team-by-team analysis

Joe and Andy help Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prepare for Gameweek 22.

This weekend’s fixtures mark the start of another Double Gameweek for FPL managers to enjoy.

But with Covid continuing to wreck the fixture schedule and slender pickings among the teams with two fixtures, it is little wonder that Joe and Andy are cautious about the potential for a large points haul.

Eight teams have two matches within Gameweek 22 and our Scoutcast duo are still struggling to pick a strong captain or select players to bring in.

Are Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United’s fixtures too tough to call? And can assets from the likes of Brentford and Burnley inspire confidence?

Joe and Andy discuss the key Double Gameweek issues facing FPL managers before this Friday’s deadline, including whether to trust premium picks such as Spurs striker Harry Kane (£12.2m) or Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m) with the captaincy armband.

During their chat, they deep dive into the latest statistics from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area for each of the Double Gameweek teams to find diamonds in what could be the roughest round of fixtures this season.

Andy is considering deploying a Free Hit chip during the week and showcases his latest draft, while Joe is hoping he can finally stop spending hits to get even close to a credible starting XI.

Meanwhile, all the regular features are covered, from fixture frisking to quick-fire questions from the Live Chat crew.

Elsewhere, Seb was absent from this latest episode due to family commitments but should be back next week.

This week’s live show took place on Tuesday 11 January during the Southampton and Brentford match at the tail-end of Gamweek 21. Be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel to get notified of future live episodes. It is also available as a podcast.

    DDG
    TAA, Cancelo, Regulion
    Foden, Bowen, Jota, Raphina,
    Ronaldo, DCL, Antonio

    Foster, Dawson, ESR, Livra

    Thinking either:
    A: ESR to Maddison/Moura
    B: Antonio to Dennis
    C: Roll FT

Who to sell for a Watford forward?

    A) Watkins
    B) Antonio

Could get them back as part of buying Salah back when he returns.

I sold Watkins for King a couple of days ago for a FT. Wanted to bank the money I'd made on Watkins and invest in the DGW plus Antonio has good fixtures. I know some people are saying Villa's run is about to get better, and the transfer in of Coutinho and Digne will help Watkins, but he seems likely to be played out wide to accommodate Ings, whereas Antonio/West Ham seem to be coming back to good form. So I say A

valid points...in the short term Antonio has a better fixture this week... i was set on watkins to dennis/king but then Antonio came up as a thought too for the above reasons.. Will wait till Friday anyway for pulling the trigger..

Thoughts on this -4 DGW team:

    Sanchez,
    Rudiger, Cancelo, TAA/Dawson
    Maddison, Jota, Bowen, Bilva
    Antonio, Watkins, Dennis

    Bench: TAA/Dawson, Salah, Livra, Button

Who to get for Bilva for -4?

    A) Moura
    B) Mount
    C) Fernandez

    5.2 in the bank

    DDG
    RUDIGER, Cancelo, taa
    Foden, Jota, MADDISON, Bowen
    DENNIS, KANE (C), Broja

    Subs: Steele, Bilva, Coufal, White,

    1.6 in the bank

I'm keeping Bilva for next few games as ManC have good fixtures and he played false 9 in the cup. But with Son out, I think Moura is a dead cert for both DGW games and probably beyond, whereas Mount might not be. And then Mount has a blank or two coming up. And Moura feels more fun?? So A!

    How about these transfers?

    A) Son and Antonio > Maddison and Ronaldo -4?

    B) Son, Bilva and Antonio > Maddison, Bruno and Ronaldo -8?

    C) Son, Gelhardt and Antonio > Maddison, Ronaldo and Dennis (have King) -8?

It's a tough one, this week you'd imagine Maddison makes most sense but he has tough games after it (Leicester tend to do well v Brighton but this Brighton side is much improved compared to recent years), KDB could still do well against Chelsea, they've been very leaky, and City have a great run after that

I think you can get away with taking a hit.

The moves I would make are to switch Son to Moura or a Leicester mid and get Dennis for Gelhardt.

The followng GW you can upgrade the bench with any leftover cash.

Resisted the temptation of Free hit and went with a Single hit (-4).
    Toney + Son ➡ Kane + Maddison

Did transfers today to avoid double price change (Kane up, Toney down)

So mates, how does this team look (only Bernardo on bench)?

    Sanchez^
    Reguilon^ .... Rudiger^ .... TAA .... Cancelo
    Maddison^ .... Jota .... Bowen
    Kane^ .... Dennis^ .... Antonio

Bench: Foster* | James* | Bernardo | Benrahma*
    ^ for DGW
    * for NA

I can't understand why you'd even think about FHing that team.

Son - Benrahma-James were not available. Toney blanking left and right. Bernardo not amongst points. Impending blanks for James & Rudiger.

Only one DGW player, but I can still do things with Salah money. Any thoughts appreciated, friends:

    Lloris
    TAA, Cancelo, Dias, Coufal, Cash
    Salah*, Jota, Foden, Bowen, Gray
    Watkins, Antonio, Broja

    A. Salah, Watkins, Broja -> Maddison, Dennis, Ronaldo/Kane (- 8)
    B. Salah, Broja -> Maddison, Kane/Dennis (- 4)
    C. Salah, Broja, Gray -> Maddison, Bruno, Dennis (- 8)
    D. Salah, Broja -> Bruno, Kane/Dennis (- 4)
    E. Something else/Free Hit (I've got two still)

Might be an idea to hold Salah now - especially given that he may return from AFCON sooner than expected. He does tie up a lot of money, however, and all your suggested moves require selling him - albeit temporarily. I'm in a similar boat to you with Ronaldo as my sole double game week player. I'm considering Salah -> Maddison, and Broja -> Dennis. Norwich in gw23 makes the Dennis move even more appealing. The likes of Gray, Bowen, Trent, Jota, Antonio can easily match or better a doubler's score so I'd save the free hit for more desperate times.

B looks sensible (Watkins and Gray may be useful going ahead).

Livra holders are you transferring out or keeping for the time being and benching?

Not worth a hit to replace is he?

I'm holding because of other players in my team that I want to get rid off (Son and Ødegaard/D.Luiz).

But wouldn't bring in any of the DGW defenders for a hit either, for Livra that is.

Have to hold till 24 at least. My transfers till then are aimed towards getting KDB and Salah in my team.

If Egypt are knocked out in the group stage when would Salah be back?

    1. DARK SIDE OF THE LOON

Just before Palace, but won't happen. They play Guinea Bissau and Sudan. Even a third place finish won't necessarily knock them out.

assuming he plays all 3 games, sub appearance vs Palace in GW23 wont be a surprise

he could even start that one and get a rest during IB

Are people still staying away from Leicester players, cause of strong chance of another postponement?

staying away because they are poor

I think people are just waiting for more clarification. If the games go ahead, many people are considering two Leicester midfielders for their Free Hit teams. In terms of actual transfers, Son to Maddison seems hugely popular, but we need as much information as possible before confirming the move.

FPL should be reduced to a 5-a-side competition until the end of the season.

Pick five players and see how they fly…..
