Mark Sutherns’ Gameweek 23 preview and transfer plans

Andy and Mark return on the eve of another Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline to look ahead to Gameweek 23, in this their latest video for Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout.

But the pair start with a brief analysis of the previous Double Gameweek, lamenting their lack of Bruno Fernandes (£11.7m) points which saw them handed a chastening rank drop.

Looking forward, Manchester City’s potential midfield targets enter the conversation as the captaincy conundrum comes into focus. The pair identify the forthcoming round of matches as an opportunity to make ground with a maverick pick, running through the options in their own line-ups before highlighting the big threats that lie elsewhere.

Agree at face value on no hit, but if you do A you get a good player and it improves your bench, which does need some help

Tough. United seem odds on to concede, so Antonio return not unlikely. But probably G2G.

I agree but having both Bowen and Antonio I'm banking on them both getting returns, which I think is unlikely. Feel like it's safer to hedge my bet with only one West Ham player onfield?

    Advice welcomed!!!

I would bench Tierney and DCL for LaPorte and Coady. Coady not as sexy of a pick as DCL but more likely to get points

Bit lost here. Thinking of just rolling the FT. Otherwise I think it's Trossard to Raphina or Villa mid (whatever enables Silva to Salah with the rest of my ITB next week)
    and bench Gray or Antonio.

    De Gea (Foster)
    Trent, Cancelo, White (Cucurella, Keane)
    Silva, Gray, Bowen, Jota (Trossard)
    Ronaldo, Dennis, Antonio

Seems like the premiums are rising to the top. Which 3 of these do you think will be key?

      Salah KDB Kane.
I very rarely own Kane, but he looked much better against Leicester and could have had 3.
KDB also starting to look the business. Salah is Salah.

Salah, KDB and Kane. Not sure how rest of the team would look with two premiums, Kane and hockey cokey between mids, Salah and KDB. TAA, Cancelo, Salah/KDB and Kane, but rest of the team must be tatters.

    Hi all,

    Sanchez
    TAA Cancelo Reguilon (Dawson Livra)
    Mount* KDB(c) Maddison Bowen Bruno
    Watkins Dennis (Pukki)

Regardless of DGW announcements I want to get rid of Mount this week. Who for?

    b) Raphinha
    c) Jota

Ideally would be for the longer term. Thoughts?

Coutinho - best long term, but lacks match fitness, Raphinha - best fixture this week, fixtures get worse after, Jota - monster xgi stats, but potential rotation risk once the Mane and Salah return.

It just reeks of a Dennis 4 pointer if it happens. Not to say you shouldn’t captain but it wouldn’t be surprising would it. Norwich on the bounce with Deano and Burnley based on previous years know how to beat the teams around them.

Meanwhile Foden is pretty much the striker of the best team in the world, with a full week rest.

i agree but i would be upset with myself if i ovethink it and go foden who hasnt scored that much recently over a pretty good forward who has newcastle and burnley.

I can live with foden doing well even if i didnt cap him

Palace and southampton are decent sides and at home. Decent chance they score

    2FT.

    Son & Mount > Bruno (C) & Raphinha ?

I was originally set on rolling ft in preparation for Mount to Salah in 24 (have 6.5m itb)

    Would you:
    a) stick to original plan and perhaps captain Dennis with potential double
    b) move Mount to Kdb for free and captain. They host BRE in 24 which could be a better option than rushing Salah back
    c) move Mount to Bruno for free and captain. Away to bur in 24

    DDG
    Trent Cancelo White
    Jota Foden Bowen Raph Mount
    Watkins Dennis
    Steer Antonio Keane Livra

B atm, A if Dennis gets double, and even then, it's close call.

we probably won't know before deadline though whether they get double
Is 2x Dennis better than 1x kdb?

Also living in AUS so effectively have to set my team about 6-7 hours before deadline

Kevin then, but you could just save and go Foden.

If no Kevin, was going to captain Dennis or Raph
but it's more about Mount and his chances of returning

The view is that if not confirmed pre 23 deadline they will be put into 24 ( with deadline being brought forward) so if no confirmation pre deadline defo B

This is tough with the time difference, i'd prefer Kdb over Dennis with a double tbh but we've played this game long enough to know a real punch in the face from hindsight bias post gw when Dennis does really well. With the Wat double info i feel it makes a Villa double also more likely which further muddies the waters around the armband as a good Watkins double probably out trumps a single Kdb. Tough call......good luck with your decision. 😛

Thanks. So here we are. Kdb v Dennis x2
Not trying to get sucked in either. Still leaning towards quality over quantity
Dennis easy vc given the early fixture

Really regretting holding Salah through AFCON. Pointless to take him out now as he'll likely be back in 24 but it limits my moves yet again.

After 6:30 tomorrow, does that mean any fixtures added will slot into gameweek 24, or can they add to 23 after the deadline?!

I want to captain Raphinha if he has a double. I’d be sooo frustrated if I didn’t but a game was added after the deadline!

Not clear but from what I have read and heard from listening to podcasts is more likely to end up in 24
