Gameweek 24 gets underway this evening with Newcastle United v Everton and West Ham United v Watford at 19.45 GMT, followed by Burnley v Manchester United 15 minutes later.

At St James’ Park, Eddie Howe makes one change from Gameweek 23, with new signing Matt Targett replacing the injured Paul Dummett at left-back.

Fellow new recruits, Bruno Guimaraes and Dan Burn, are both named on the bench.

Frank Lampard, meanwhile, makes two changes from Saturday’s 4-1 FA Cup win over Brentford, with Yerry Mina and Andros Townsend coming in for the injured Ben Godfrey and Vitaliy Mykolenko.

That means Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek are substitutes, plus Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with Demarai Gray and Anthony Gordon flanking Richarlison up front.

Elsewhere, Kurt Zouma surprisingly starts for West Ham, whilst further forward, Michail Antonio leads the line after missing Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Kidderminster Harriers, having featured for Jamaica three times during the winter break.

As for Watford, Roy Hodgson recalls Emmanuel Dennis following his one-match suspension, plus Tom Cleverley, with Joao Pedro and Ken Sema dropping out.

At Turf Moor, Josh Brownhill and Jay Rodriguez replace Dale Stephens and Aaron Lennon, both of whom are on the bench.

However, the headline news involves the visitors, with Cristiano Ronaldo – owned by 28.1% of FPL managers – benched.

As a result, Edinson Cavani will lead the United line, with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes paired together in central midfield, in what looks like a 4-3-3 formation, a system Ralf Rangnick used in Friday’s FA Cup loss against Middlesbrough.

What are people thinking re Kane / son re dgw26

    First game is city away.....

Are they worth investment for the double?

I'm looking at a - 8 in dgw26. Will downgrade ronaldo to kane or eduouard .....thanks

I decided to go Dennis > Kane this week to get the nice fixtures ahead of dgw26. (It was him over expensive MU assets)
I could use Kane to get to Salah (but will likely use KDB) for the double.

Not sure I'd be getting them in specifically for the double, think this week was the time to do it.

Depends on chip strategy, as a long term ploy I think it works and wouldn't be scared of a -8 or city.

City will be rotating and Son in particular has a great record against Pep. Great fixtures immediately after, lots of doubles to come, and an outside chance of Brighton rearranged in week 30.

      Go for it.

Cheers....yes looking to save wildcard till mid 30s

        Move would be something like:

Ronaldo Bruno and foden to salah Kane and martinelli. Thanks

Getting Son is important for me, so at this stage I am looking at doing a -4 for GW26 of Watkins + Maddison + Bruno to Broja + Son + Salah

Well son has recent form in Scoring against city. Also feel conte is a good manager who knows how to set up against good teams. There’s a bit of momentum coming into the spurs team and they’re pushing for top four now. Kane stats last 4 weeks are top for shots and he’s finding form.

I’d definitely shift Ron to Kane in 26. Kane in fine form again and has a double, doesn’t matter who it’s against, he can always score when in form.

Kane and Salah will likely be my premiums for a while after that.

Tonights game was a prime example that Ronaldo is not the problem, and should be starting.

He would've taken one of the numerous chances in the first half.

Ronaldo missed a number of good chances in the 2nd half - 2 headers from 6 yards out, plus a poor 1st touch from Shaws turnover late in the game.

    Sanchez

    TAA-Cancelo-Cucu (Konsa-Tomiyasu)
    KDB-Bilva-Bowen-Gallagher-Moura
    Watkins-Maupay (King)

    2FT 4.1 itb

With Bilva dropping tonight and possibly rested as after Norwich there is UCL

    A. Bilva + Moura > Saka (bench then for dgw26) and Bruno
    B. Just Bilva> Pogba

Would then be getting Salah and Son in for 26 either way.

    Cheers guys.

    On WC?
    A. Saka or Martinelli
    B. Cornett or Ollise

    1. RogDog_jimmy
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 21 hours ago

I think Saka - but it's very close.
And I'd lean Olise - mainly because I think Palace are a better team and I trust him to be fit/not injured.

    2. Jackie Moon
      • 7 Years

I also have the Saka and Mart dilemma on WC. Feel Saka might be a little more consistent from game to game, but Mart is explosive. I’m going Saka. Also think ESR might take some Mart game time.

I really like Cornett and would pick him over Olise as I don’t think he’s nailed with their AFCON players back. I can stretch to Zaha in midfield who I think will start every game and on pens.

I can't believe how awful teams play under Hodgson. I'm looking at a young motivated team with quick as an arrow players trying to play destructive football to stay in the league. Watford have got themselves certain relegation with Hodgson and it's so sad.
We all need to get rid of every single Watford player asap.

What roy will always do well is pick up points against teams around then. He did it with Palace with no budget due to the sakho and benteke signings (benteke is on half the wages now, and will be sold or get rid of in the summer). Palace saved 350k a week in wages from all the players that left on frees, and open up the transfer budget.

Yes we were terrible to watch but Roy kept us up.

The trouble is Roy's run-in really isn't against many teams are around him.

      They are in big trouble.

    next week looks like a roll for me - I have no interest in MU/Bri dgw players;

    Sa,
    TAA, Cancelo, Ait-Nouri
    KDB, Jota, Foden, Raphinha, Bowen
    Kane, Watkins

    Foster, Idah, Lowton, Tierney(blank)

    2ft into dgw26 - KDB & Foden > Salah & 7.5 dgw mid (looking at CP player) - gives me 9x dgw26 players.

He has Leeds next and he might start though. In cup Everton played well, yesterday not. I am not certain if he is priority out now.

Kane, Watkins, Idah is who I have right now - might prefer Broja to Idah, but it's not a huge deal.
Folks seem to like Eduoard - but I think he's too pricey for a 3rd forward and I prefer Watkins in the 2nd slot.

I only went Edouard over Watkins due to wanting Coutinho for old time's sake, and preferring the value of Digne and Ramsey as a 5th midfielder.
Kane Edouard Broja for me. I know there's a question mark over him, but I don't need Broja until 27, and he will score goals.

Same frontline as mine and if broja is fit I’d fancy his chances against United

The margins around the players is tiny - I went Watkins because I couldn't fit Coutinho into my midfield.
Hoping Kane pays off - first time I've owned him all season.

i brought in eduoard. Has norwich, brentford, then a double.

Would also go kane on WC and broja as cheap 3rd

        Yeah that’s what I’m leaning towards too. No son then..which 4th & 5th midfielder? (Thinking Saka/Martinelli & one other?)

if i didnt have foden i would 100% go mahrez for the next few weeks. after that you can switch to arsenal mid when their fixtures improve (salah, bowen, jota essential)

mahrez has been used heavily in UCL in past seasons, so could be PL rotation risk (moreso)

I expect he will, but for me he'll become Mount in 28. Pep does seem to prefer him in Europe.
